Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner. Of course not, the average weight for an 11 year old is about 79.9 if I can remember right. That would make you the perfect weight for your age. :)

I didn't paint my tail at all. I used the same kind of fabric (not lycra, just swimsuit fabric.) but I did use two different colors/patterns

hmmm... I basically just followed Burnouthappy's Video. But if you want to make the fluke a different color, trace down to your ankles seperate, and the monofin seperate on your outline. Then sew the two together when you are done cutting the fabric. Oh and don't use a straight stich. Bad Idea. Use a stitch that can stretch but not stretch out

try realxing in the water a bit more if you are not getting anywhere. Swimming with a tail is difficult if you try to make it work. I would reccomend swimming with your legs together for a little while to get the hang of it. I practiced swimming like this a few months before we made the tail

yeah my mom couldn't afford one either. but... what we did was we took to pieces of cardboard and cut the shape of a fin. we glued plastic over them to waterproof them. it works really well. :D
