  • Great job!

  • 0:53 did you cut yourself? lol

  • will tracing paper work?

  • Your parent must be proud,

Beside putting the white cloth, you can also put just canvas from the dollar store

  • learn to spell

  • nice work

  • Can you make me one?

  • @OreoCookie

If you don't have a hotshoe flash mount on your camera, take scotch tape and put around 10 layers over your on camera flash. Put each layer on one at a time. Then take an exacto knife and cut away the extra tape around the flash. Finally take one piece of scotch tape and put it over all the other layers so that the edge of all that tape is smoothened out & covered. Cheers!

  • just to be clear, when i said cut away the extra tape, i meant the tape that goes outside of the square of the flash...

  • Do you always use the softbox in your photography ?

  • thanks for the tutorial but i have a question!!!!!!!! what kind of cloth did you put on front of your softbox???? thanks again

  • just some plain white cloth that i picked up from walmart.. nothing special

  • Don't got for any cloth.. my cousin who is a pro said they use Nylon cloth.

  • thanks for share, good work

  • Excellent work!

  • You should put something shiny inside that thing and it will bounce much better.

  • Actually that would defeat the purpose of a soft box. Its meant to soften the light, not make it brighter.

  • :) But you could reduce the power of the flash right? :S

  • Sure. But a soft box is actually diffusing the light given. This means its spreading it more evenly while dimming the light a little.

  • have you ever looked inside of a professional soft box? its reflective.... oh shit..... also that would still be a specular light source if you were lighting a person because its not big enough. good attempt though. Just that would slaughter any power you were getting from that little flash. what ever though. in the final image just look how have the shadow edge transfer is, thats not really difussed, its like half diffused i would have just bought a $20 diffusion panel thats a 3x3 softbox

  • yea this was when i had nothin to diffuse the light, I now have tons of various umbrellas ans stands etc.

  • I hate umbrellas, they dont work as well as real soft boxs

  • You must not know how to use an umbrella then.

  • actually i do know how to use umbrellas, I just dont like that the light i the center of the umbrella tends to be a lot more harsh than the light coming out the sides, I just think the soft boxs are easier to use and when im on set with a model I dont want to have to deal with umbrellas. wait are you to talking about shoot through or bounce umbrellas? either way i dont really like either

  • Do you think it would work for a built in flash? I have a Sony DSCH50/B and it has a built in flash... would that flash be powerful enough. I don't think my camera support external flash. I may have to get a DSLR in that case which I cannot afford right now. What is diffusion mean? Bouncing the light.. like when they use silver thingy to bounce the light?

  • diffusion is scattering the light so it's not as harsh it creates a nice even light

  • i admire your ingenuity.

  • DUde man i love ur stuff just came back from the store with materials gonna make a softbox right now.

  • Good Luck!

  • This Is Pretty Cool, Looks A Bit Retarded Though lol, Great Job Though :)

  • will try :)

  • Thats cool. I would of never thought of making something like this. Keep the DIY videos coming.
