@torterrathegreat055 There is a reason that the ball bounces off the rim. We recommend that you spend time working on the mechanics of your stroke. Please check out our YT video "TARGET FOR SHOOTING! AIM FOR THE NEST" AND GET PERFECT SHOOTING FORM!!! and these should help your accuracy. Good luck.
@ShotScience, occasionally I force myself to recall how it was like prior to when I can easily dunk the ball. Just after I made use of the workout system at 50inchvertical. com - my skills has been improving quickly
Interactive Basketball Shooting Guide (First on YouTube) - Off Back Rim (Brick)
i most likely mimic those strokes used by some good basketball players ... sometimes few of them are effcient some are not ... i can't decide what will i use because they are inconsistent ...
@ckarazu23 Best advice! Find one that you believe in and stick with it. When we have in-decision it impossible to get our stroke to work consistently. Remember this, not all players whom you like are going to have the best stroke mechanics. Select one that gets the job done.
I have a problem my shot goes in but i usally get blocked because i shoot from my chest u i want to shoot over my forehead the proper way but when i try to do that it dosent feel comftorable. please help
@TheJawman7766 Not feeling comfortable should not be a concern. Anytime we do something that we have not done before it usually feels a little weird. Do not let that stop you. You can develop a pretty good shot in 3-4 weeks is you really want to. Lets get busy and do not worry about how strange it feels. When you start dropping shots all over the place you will be glad to did it.
@ShotScience thanks ill try it.. if i practice perfect form in the mirror without the ball will this also help me improve my form ? like shooting without a ball but while also looking at a mirror.. do you think this will also improve form ?
@TheJawman7766 thats funny, i used to shoot from my head. and changed it to above me forehead. and my shooting has been much smoother with less effort in general.
hello, i when i miss i usually know why i miss. my problems are that 1.i tilt my head back too much,2. i look at the back or front rim, or not enough leg. i have consistent form and good arc but when i miss most times its off the back rim. how do i fix 1 and 2. i kinda understand the nest visual but were i consistently practice there are no nets.
@jerseymade16 Well, any changes to your shot must be the result of many hours of focusing on that element. We recommend that you use our video "Form Shooting Drill." The nest has nothing to do with the net. It's all about the inner circle of the rim. Remember, PRACTICE on those elements will help you address the problems you mention.
@sanosukeX2: Probably nothing. You are doing something that you are not comfortable with and it feels different. The more you work on it the batter it will fell and the better your shot will become. Be sure that you are spreading your thumb out to create the grip and get the ball off your palm during the shot.
@ShotScience I went and took a few shots and noticed, when i go for that final flick of the wrist, my hand sort of latches on to the ball and puts it short. Am i suppose to hold the ball on my shooting hand with my fingertips of the palm of my hand? I feel like my palm is making my shots short too much but it gives me the arc.
@sanosukeX2; It sounds like you are pulling downward on the finish of your shot. Please see our video On "Release Point for the Jump Shot." The palm should NEVER be in contact with the ball on your shot.

m really trying to upgrade my shooting form to make my shot quicker and more efficient. please watch my video and tell me how i can fix my shot form: Stephen senderoff basketball highlights
@ssbasketballplayer: Stephen, I have watched your video before and I believe that I responded to it. Did not get to see very much on your stroke because the quality of the video was not very good when you were playing. It did seem to be alright, no glaring deficiencies. It is better for you to watch our shooters and then check your own videos against what you see there. Good luck.
I have a really bad habit of doing a little fade like Kobe..... I have been trying to remove it for a while but have been failing, can you give me tips to shoot this way then??
@rouh6678: Well this and almost any other thing that we do in BB is changed by spending time and concentration to make a change. Remember, we are driven as players by "Muscle Memory." We tend to learn different things and they become our game. To break this habit we must spend a lot of time focusing on a change to some other detail controlled by "Muscle Memory." It just takes time and focus to change. Go for it!
hey shotscience, today i decided to increase my arch because it feels too flat, but it feels like i lost contol of the ball when it left my hand, is this normal? and i could find the right power to put behind the ball, so the ball kept bouncing off the front of the rim or the back of the rim, will my body find the right power after i take more shots? (and yes i watched all your interactive basketball videos)
@SkyXykS: Glad we could help. Please direct others to this channel so they can get that information as well. Thanks a ton! Please stay tuned for more.
I used to do this a lot, i followed you advice on getting a higher arc, and now all i do is shoot air balls, even when using my legs. It's really been knocking my confidence so is there anything i can do to improve my shot to get it in with a high arc?
@leekwl: We recommend that you use our "Form Shooting Drill" video. This is the key to establishing all of the elements of the shooting stroke. When we learn something new it takes a while to make this a part of our shot. It may take three - four weeks of concentrated work. You must establish the "Muscle Memory" for all the elements so that they are a new part of your shot. It can't be done in a few days. It will take the time frame mentioned. Lets go!!!!
Im having a really hard time with the power of my shot it usually always hits the front of the rim or it hits the very back of the rim i can never get the swish i want and when i do get the swish it just seems like luck,i want to get the feel of doing this constantly but i can't get it right i don't know what to do.
@Pellonian: Yes, we know what to do. After you have digested our shooting videos and have a good idea about the shot mechanics then go to our video "Form Shooting Drill" and this is how you grow your shot. It will take 3-4 weeks of pretty concentrated work on the elements to re-establish proper elements and have them become a part of our "Muscle Memory." You will find that this drill works wonders for your shot. After you have it down go to game shooting drills. Good luck!
I'm doing everything you have said in your video correctly, my coach even thinks my form and angle of shot are perfect, however I always just seem to hit the back of the rim. what should I do?
TDE: It's great that you are making such an effort to develop your shot. We really recommend that you use our "Form Shooting Drill". When you are working on your shot it takes a lot of time just working on the elements. This drill is all about focusing on these element and "TOUCH". It will take several weeks of shooing 3-500 form shots a week to develop this touch. Another item is to work on the correct target. It will come around for you if you spend the FORM time. Keep us up to date.
Is your shot very flat? Are you pushing the ball? Watch all of the videos in this interactive series and see if you're shooting with all of the suggestions that we offer. If you're still having problems, you can record a high quality video and we can try and help you. Okay?
asher: First, learn to be a one-handed shooter. As far as accuracy finish your shot with the first two fingers of the shooting hand finishing directly to the target (Nest). Check out all of our YT videos for help in your shooting. Let us know how it goes for you.
Wow I've been chucking bricks my whole life! Tomorrow I'll work on my arc and aim to get the shot 4 feet above the rim. I think that's the cause as most rebounds are big and back towards me.
paul: The flat arc makes it really difficult to make shots. We can make them, but the percentage is usually weak. They also create that "Flat long rebound". This may take a few weeks of work. We recommend that you begin by using the "Form Shooting" drill. You can find that as one of our videos if you have not seen it. Good luck and keep us posted.
You definitely do NOT want to put the ball over your head like that. Taylor was trying to illustrate why people shoot with flat arcs and that is one way that it happens. Good eye!

is it okay to have more than one kind of shooting stroke ???

@ckarazu23 Not typically a good idea. What you really want is one that is efficient, effective and totally repeatable every time you shoot the ball.
