  • there will be one day when the Antichrist get's the entire planet under his control this way.

  • funny he should mention hitler in his sermon when he was really a modern day hitler......christianity is love not hate nor is it any type of trickery. Any pastor that beats young children in front of their parents and the whole church is not any child of god!

  • a deadly silent killer under disguised as a Savior. It's fucking sad

  • Comment removed

  • outside of the fact he was completly out of his mind i think he realy belived that this world is not a good place and he didnt want to leve those he loved in what he called a inhumane world .

  • jim = antichrist?

  • "oh no who's gonna decide who and when someones giong to die we must never allow that because this is the kinda thing that ushers in terror of a hitlers germany"

    jim jones words but wait

well in november 18 1978 jim jones decided who and when someone was gonna die

  • Over the years we have all been lied to by many false religous leaders and so called prophets. Many things we have been taught are not even in Scripture and millions have swallowed so many lies by these false leaders. If you are a truth seeker, please visit the web site which is displayed in my picture and user name and take the time to read some of the articles... You will be very shocked. There is an audio there that will shock you.

    Blessings as you seek truth

    Thanks

  • Jim Jones was a Communist. A Marxist-Leninist. Nothing to do with religion.

  • @pigletized

Yeah, it has a great deal to do with religion. And communism is a polotical religion, just as "faith based" as christianity

  • Scientologist should watch this and take a note out of the history books. They need to see what the fuck happens when they are indoctrinated and brainwashed by a fucking cult. Scientology is a modern re-birth of The Peoples Temple.

  • Ayer vi este documental en Infinito y es realmente impactante cómo la gente puede llegar a niveles de fanatismo aberrantes. Buenísimo, se los recomiendo ¡¡

  • the locals went and took everything. buildings, furniture, EVERYTHING. there's nothing left but weeds and one small rusted tractor (the locals probably couldn't figure out how to start it to steal it too).

  • Did the government go back to that area and destroy the buildings, or anything that was left of the People's tTmple?

I would love see pics of the area as it appears today.

  • ,,no they just left everything as it was the locals are very superstitious of the area and don't want to touch it, most of the bodies were removed but some remained where they laid down, and reported the coolaid coolers are still there to.

  • Jim Jones looks too much like Moammar Ghadaffi in that last scene wearing the beret. He also looks too much like my uncle who died in 2003 who was also a very charismatic but narcissistic man. Glad they're both gone.

  • Jim Jones was pure evil. If you couldn't see that, I think that something must have been wrong with you.A lot of people who followed him must not have been too bright.

  • @lildude77504 Yet you follow blindly every leader that promises to satisfy your needs and wants.I bet you do.

  • Jones was obviously mentally ill by this point, you can hear how incoherent he is on the tapes. I don't think you can flat out blame the members who "chose" and however many were forced to take cyanide. Events like these happen so commonly in human history and humans behave the same way time after time. Most humans will do horrible things if authority or the group tells them to. Humans are capable of great good but also tragic and criminal stupidity when they conform in a violent manner.

  • I feel bad for the children, everyone else that made the "choice" to go, deserved it. Look at his eyes who couldn't read them?

  • did you know Jim Jones drank 4 pints of horse urine every day

  • some of you are so stupid to defend this asshole bet you like bin laden too

  • fuck jim jones let people think for themselves

  • do not misconstue my words

i did said what he did was evil

but honestly i don't think anything in that time was a concious choice

    the dude had issues

    hello?

  • jim jones wasn't evil. what he ended up doing was. but he had good intentions in the beginning.

now im not defending him at all. but i studied him for a sociology project for school. what he really wanted to begin with was equality. he just lost control of his power

and his charisma didn't help much.

    charisma is what destroys things

it was the same with hitler

    people believed his word

Jim Jones in the end kind of got what he wanted he is infamous

    and that is just sad.

  • read Stromms book... he would sodomize children both male and female to humiliate them into loyalty. He had sex with 10 year old's, ripping them. He convinced parents to switch little girls to jumbo tampons so they could have sex before developing...and you say he wasn't evil?

  • Even at a young age he had a lust for power..He didn't even like religion, and though preachers were trash..He read books on mind control and brain washing techniques. From day 1 it was all about Jim Jones. He was a evil man.

  • your a fucking douchebag twilightislove91

  • is so simple, they believed in jim jones's words!! they didn't believed in Gods words or maybe they didn't read a bible!!! You can't believe everything you hear even if they say is from god,you have to read and study the bible.

  • I look at this, it makes me sick, to see what he did to so many people, I even saw a dramatic Re-enactment of when he sent men to kill the people who wanted to leave (we were watching a Canadian-made doc about this in my religion class) it was just fucking sickening. I just can't believe anyone could ever be that sick.

  • What happened in Jonestown was horrible & I remember when it happened.

It was all about control & power. People believed he was God & believed everything he said.

Jim Jones was a nut, a fanatic and an evil man.

  • Pllm30; He was a psychopath, mentally impaired to address right choices; What is the point on defending that kind of EVILDOER? A cynical person who deceived and abuse his people behind a veil of god man.

  • Sodomizing a chid is evil.

  • i just heard about this....WTF

  • How old are you? no offense- just wondering.

  • jones was sexy back then.

  • Sexy? Ugh!

  • You mistaken his charisma for "sexiness".

  • picasims: you think that is what it is? maybe so. but i do find a mysterious sexiness about him. the way he looks is so unique. maybe his charisma is what drew people in to him.

  • Charisma is what a guru or a cult leader needs to be sucessful. And Jim Jones is not the only one who pushed people to kill themselves, we could think about David Koresh(who also had children with many of his followers) or Luc Jouret.

It definitely is about the way he was projecting himself. That is what made him desirable.

  • picasims: (well obviously) but do you believe Jones had secret ulterior motives? i mean some have said that he secretly hated Blacks and one of his mission was to destroy them. whilst others believed he tried helping them in the beginning but it went wrong.

  • I don't think his first motivation was to help his community. He wanted power. He wanted to be a king or some kind of pharaoh. I don't believe that his suicide was planned when he started his cult. He must have wanted to die in a more honorable way. The power he had just happened to be over black people because of the social situation, he wasn't racist. And when he realized how much power he had, I think he developed a delusional disorder because his mental state definitely wasn't at its best.

  • Also, picasims: maybe his charisma is what "got me" but i was really looking at his physical appearance: black hair, widows peak, bowed lips and beautiful skin and smile that i thought was sexy. now his message was another story.

  • "Jim Jones is not the only one who pushed people to kill themselves, we could think about David Koresh..." I'd like to know how you arrived at that? One guy force fed poison to his adherents, the other one (Koresh, along with his followers) were more or less gunned down by impatient ATF agents. At some point, don't you think, they could've picked him up on the way to the grocery store? Puhleeze, the Waco stand off was an embarrassment to Clinton and Janet Reno. Not to mention an abuse of Fed pwr

  • The Brian Jonestown Massacre

  • u need to look at WHY it happened, so u can prevent it from happening again....

bu everyone is looking at HOW it happened

  • jim jones was a crazy fanatic...

  • Satin + Communist = Jim Jones.

They had gaurds and gates around Jonestown to prevent people from escaping...

  • You miss the point here AnonPlusPlus. The Peoples Temple and Stalin for that matter were in no way the embodiment of Communism - For one thing Communism calls for the disbandment of religion and in the light of problems in the modern world, is that such a bad thing?

You should not be brainwashed by archiac American propaganda.

  • satin? do u mran satan, fool?

  • That guy at 1:01 lost his wife and one-year-old son in Jonestown. He saw how they injected poison into the baby's mouth. Burn in hell, Jim Jones.

  • This documentary was on BBC 2 on sunday. Stunning and yet hideous filmmaking.

  • A true demon in skin...

  • comment reported

  • go to f**king Hell U Loser get a gun a shoot yourself.

  • Uh.....high school was a long time ago for me..........but doesnt the impliled definition depend on the context in which the word is framed?

Purhaps colij wuz jus a wayst of tim fo mee....

  • Suicide: Verb?

  • Hey, retard, suicide isn't a noun. Learn the English language before you voice your worthless opinion.

  • Who is a retard?

Suicide IS a noun as a 2 second google search would have shown you.

    Merriam-Webster Dictionary

    Main Entry: sui·cide

    Pronunciation: \ˈsü-ə-ˌsīd\

    Function: noun

  • it can be either a verb or a noun

  • Beginning at 1:50, why is there fire in the forests?

  • Clearing the jungle to make way for new agricultural grows or housing....they had MANY ACRES of land at their disposal...

They wanted to be self sustaining, so they needed to make some more room for stuff....

  • It doesnt matter how many of them were black and how many white! All that matters is that innocent people lost their lives because of that crazy weirdo hu probly thort he was jesus or something. I watched a documentary on tv about this the other night and i was mortified that something like this happened. You americans need to stop joining cults and get a backbone.

  • Horrifying.

  • curiner is right you fools.

they were commie, religious nuts recruited from ghettos and desperate to follow another fake god

  • please believe in one true god.. the unseen god who create the heaven and earth...

  • yes

  • please tell me you're joking. The truth is there is no god.

  • there is no god, religion is dangerous dont do it

  • u r so wrong how do u explian the holy spirit.long ago i never went to church then one day i did and felt the holy spirit

  • how do you explain dinosaurs, they were never found in the bible and how do you explain oil that took millions of years to form from dead plants and animals

  • You may well have had a powerful, subjective religious experience. People have been having such experiences for centuries. But they are SUBJECTIVE--i.e. they exist in your own mind. If you'd been born in India, you might have felt the presence of Vishnu or Shiva instead of the holy spirit.

  • as seeen here

  • Religion isnt dangerous ..cults and ppl who say they are God are dangerous

  • "ppl who say they are God are dangerous "

    Like jesus!

  • @cLassYLaYdee32 I completely agree. I am traditional Christian but even I can see some religious offshoots and cults are fucking evil.

  • @cLassYLaYdee32

    Like Jesus?

  • @cLassYLaYdee32 sorry..religion is superdangerous in ALL its forms...no disease on earth has killed more people all put together then religions has. Full stop!!

  • @SuperTiredofitall It's not religion that's dangerous...religion itself cannot go out and kill someone...but a person who uses religion as an excuse can.

  • @cLassYLaYdee32 Religion isnt dangerous? wow you are a really fuckin stupid retard... Religion is the reason we got so mush hate in this world get real

  • @HashSmokerDude420 NO U DUMB FUCK IGNORANCE IS WHY WE GOT SO MUCH HATE. IM NOT CHRISTIAN BUT I EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT.

  • there were quite a few whites, too, and they were all brainwashed and intimidated by Jim Jones

  • Not really, Curiner. Actually, Black people who lived in Jonestown were not the only group of individuals who decided to commit sucide under comand of their leader. Take the Japonese kamikases during WW2, take the suicide bombers in the Middle East and the list goes on. In that sense, you fail when you associate the episode with race because they were not the only group of people who decided to commit suicide (or even murder) for a cause which they believe to be worthy.

  • they were not all blacks, u stupid motherfucker. it was multiracial comunity.

  • You know...I can always tell if someones a stupid

crazy freak no matter how well versed he or she

might be or how compelling they seem to be....

so why or so many other ppl fall into the traps

of these selfish insane bastards...jim jones,

hitler, charles manson and so many others...

I like to choose my own way, whether its good or

bad, I will decide what I will do...nobody on this

earth could make me follow them...even if they

    arent insane crazy fucks!!

  • I'd like to punch you unconscious, you racist little cunt.

  • one of the most enduring arguments for the existance and ressurection of jesus christ was the 500 people who claimed that the saw this happen even when threatened by death, the pastor tried to convince me that if 500 people are willing to die for something because they think it's true, it must be true; but in thi case, it's 909 people, shouldn't that prove that what they believe in is truer than jesus?

  • The way I see it is a the time the CIA was in high tension and ripping through continents to track down Jones and his fellow leadership. He didn't want to go alone, and under such an influence of Barbituates he thought death was iminent. So rather than supposedly dying alone, he convinced 909 other people to take their lives aswell; of course many were murdered from protesting it or had no clue as to what was happening. He was a hitler without the millions tolled.

  • I just watched the documentary - too sad and too horrible / it's inhumane to kill onself esp the lit kids ...Allah bless them

  • i want to watch this, is it on dvd?

  • but he got shot in the head himself

  • HAIL PEOPLE TEMPLE.

We all must choose a way, this was, and is. Our way.

I lost most my family, tho i will be joining them soon to a new life.

  • I hope you joking. This was not a mass suicide, it was more of a mass murder. Your nuts. Almost 300 children died that day. Does that not mean anything to you? I guess it didn't mean anything to Jim Jones either. If you believe this, then rot in hell just like he is.

  • The real message of the film is to illustrate where ALL utopian ideologies, be they "left" or "right", wind up.

  • Right on.

  • HAIL PEOPLES TEMPLE.

few of us remain, we are true.

    no one will ever understand.

  • Sorry to stir the Koolaid pot, but, Yea, I think we do understand, FIRST YOU NEED A FUCKIN BRAIN, THEN USE IT, to bad you weren't with all of them too

  • YOU WERE NOT EVEN BORN YET!

  • are you joking? you are 24 years old - keep smokin the bong because you are fried!

  • Actually, none of you remain. And the ones that survived, don't think that way. Dumb ass.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Horiffic, I just finished watching Jonestown Paradise Lost, a nightmare...

  • Yeah, I watched it last night. Had a really hard time falling asleep. I think its mostly because I have two young children and couldn't get the sight out of my head. Unreal.

  • Bah,it was horrible

  • It's the best and most accurate documentary out there about the Jonestown Tragedy, but your entitled to your own strange opinion.

  • I call people like that sheepeople. Jonestown, the Branch Davidions. They're all the same. FOLLOW BLINDLY!

  • Just watched "Jonestown: Paradise Lost" on the History Chanel a few nights ago. Jim Jones' son was talking.. Very nice man

  • Religion is the opiate of the masses, and those idiots OD'ed!

  • these ppl were not weak minded or stupid, they knew wat was going to happen, butthey believed so strongly in their religion they were willing to give up their lives for it. and im not just saying this because i belive in it, i personally do not believe in a god or gods.

  • Who are you to judge anyone? You weren't there. Shut up.

  • there were about 900 people there, and 400 (very possabily more) did not want to die, they were forced. jim did not let them leave. they didnt believe in what he was talking about, they were forced to stay, forced to die. 300 of them were children. "i saw the history channel paradise lost earlier today." and he was so much of a coward, he had someone else shoot him in the head. he didnt even have the balls to do it himself.

  • he didnt have the balls to die the way he was having everyone else die. the way he said was peacful and rightous. i hope that murdering, child killing bastard is burning in hell right his instant. and stays there forever. "i pray for those people, espically the children. and i hope you will too."

  • Amen...u know he went to hell for his wrong preachings...and for what he did...im sure God didnt forgive him because he knew what he was doing. its sad...sad that all those souls of adults were lost. it breaks my heart. god bless.

  • more than half were kids...

  • No, I believe I read somewhere that around 230 were children (not half).

  • Actually, it was almost 300.

  • Over 900 people died in total and almost 300 were children. Not sure why they don't have an actual number of how many were children. They should. There are different numbers all over the place. Might as well be half.

  • wow you people are really ignorant do you not get the point of this video? its not to judge the members of people temple its to remember a horrible event in american history.

  • Touché. I agree with you completely.

  • The flock following their all knowing leader. mmm Someone forgot to tell the sheep they werent suppossed to jump off the cliff before they gave everything to their church.

  • Darwinism at work on weak minded idiots

  • Scary, I remeber that clearly. What a tragedy. There are always charismatic people who will take advantage of others kindness and hope. It's why we have a tendency to get a bit cynical with age I guess.

  • the gov't killed these people.

  • Uhhh....actually....Jim Jones killed these people.

  • yeah, looks like it but i read it somewhere that the govt was tryin to get hold on jim jones.. it has to do with the CIA i think.

  • he sure did cause he show wasnt trying to help those people get out of there.

  • WHEN does it come out, and WHO is hosting it?

  • I looked it up on yahoo movies and it said it was released on oct. 20th, but there was a limited release. You can look on Yahoo Movies for release dates (I live in chicago, and it says that it isn't coming out until Nov. 24th, at the Gene Siskel Film center, fyi).

  • wierd. thanks for the info!

  • Wow how sad he really did lead them to Hill Big time this is Devil not a humen.Devil(Jonestown)

  • So many people who do not understand the difference between truth and fact. Of six billion, how many are truely aware? How many do just what they are told?

  • part-2 Too many people have only spoken the same and very few words of a very many ingorant people.

To me on this thread a great number tRy to speak with a rebellious mind. I say ,"rebellious is great","only one problem,it is done in such a conformist way!"

  • An old saying goes along the lines of,never to judge a human untill one has walked in the other persons shoes. I feel that when such hatefull words are dropt out of a fools mouth only speaks in ingorance.

  • I feel that when such hatefull words are dropt out of a fools mouth only speaks in ingorance. The phrase,"brainwashed" has no meaning in todays world. I am whitness to brainwasing every time I log on this site,Fn this Fn that! A lot of words of so little meaning.

WE,WE are all ,"brainwarshed to sum point of degree". Just within this thread a majority of,"people" have been brainwarshed with dirty water!

  • So Much To Learn, the shame of it all is that it will never be taught. To quote a dead fool,"We are condemend to commit the sins of our fathers". I hate to admit,I find truth in those words.

    In other words ,"STOP JONEZING"!

Ifn' one wants to learn about ,"Jones Town", come on by,we shall sit and talk the subject over a nice tall glass of KoolAid.

  • part-1... I remember the impact not only to the people and goverment of the u.s., but this whole planet.

  • Hahaha, dumb fucks! Just goes to show you how primitive this world still is! People with weak minds need religion or cults, as a source of guidance to live their life, no different then people 1,000 years ago!

  • As harsh as your comment is, it is likely true. Though religion did evolve from early astronomers with the capabilities of telling the forecast to an unknown, unseen being.

  • *sigh* This is what happens when a dumbfuck is introduced to the internet. I presume that you make such inappropriate comments between moments of watching midget porn.

  • Primitive is not the correct word. It is ignorance! It is the inability to seek out truth or in this case who God is or isn't. Rejecting religion or the need for it is the same old tired thinking that most atheists use to defend their positions.

  • I agree with you about religion. But you need to do your research. This was not about religion. It just started out that way. This was about socialism.

  • Any who know this topic well know that most people at Jonestown did not commit suicide but were murdered. They were shot or forced to take lethal injections.

  • That is right. Additionally, it is easy to see how people could be drawn toward a promised society without hate or prejudice. Sounds good to me. But Jones was a very scary guy. The religious thing is a turn off -- big time.

  • I don't think religions are a problem. It's the people who control the religions (e.g. Jim Jones) that stuff them up. You can see it everywhere now. I agree with Gyrkin.

  • Same thing, is it not?

  • I've been brainwashed to believe in the people who tell me that being brainwashed is bad, so I suggest not trying to brainwash people. Brainwash.

I do want to see this movie, though. When's it come out? Unless it already is out?

  • Dunno what "major religions" would know about anything anyway. The people spouting that theology got here the same time the rest of us did; They're just men, and no scripture is clear or specific about it. So..think for yourselves. Letting a priest think for you is just as "brainwashed" as they were... or about as dumb as believing in George Bush and the war.

  • true

  • I agree. I mean, it's crazy to think arabs could make civilized government by consent.

  • Believing in Bush or the war has nothing to do with following a cult. These people were sold a false doctrine and if these people knew the differnce between what Jones was saying and what Christianity truly is, then they would have rejected his cultic teachings.

  • Theragepo, I'd call you a dick but I think it is implied.

  • Commenting on stuff is important! People read it and it has an impact! Or something...

  • Idiots??? How many of us are brainwashed by a system of cultic propaganda? All!!! Before we castigate these people as idiots, devils, uneducated etc. What frame of reference are we using to justify our resoning? Religious, cultural etc. We too a cultist, we too believe in race, we too believe in the nation, we too believe in our president and government.

  • You need some Kool Aid.... here have a nice cold glass of arsni- er, I mean Kool Aid.

  • Yeah well, ain't none of our beliefs putting us into forced interracial marriages to drink the special Kool Aid, so maybe all beliefs aren't the same.

  • ahaha fucken idiots.. lol

  • You're the only fucking idiot here because you are insulting people involved in something that you don't understand.

  • Terrible.

The use of the love of God to kill people.

    Very sad.

  • Don't even joke about this. And I'm pretty sure that NONE of them are going to heaven or any other good place. Suicide's a no-no in all the major religions. I feel so sorry for them.

  • they didn't kill themselves they where murdered by jim jones and that's a big different and surely they are in heaven did they not believe in Jesus?

  • I want to believe that too, because it really ISN'T their fault, but they still took the kool-aid themselves and drank it, didn't they? So I guess only the ones who defied Jones (and mostly got shot) are going to heaven. As for believing in Jesus... the bible gives several other criteria for being eligible for going to heaven. So it's no use just believing, is it? Everyone else is going to go to hell. Just great...

  • NONE of them? Really? Gee, that's kind of harsh, but I guess that's just how He rolls. I guess that's real important to God, making sure that children get punished even in the afterlife for their parents decision to go to Jonestown. Tough break! We'll just chalk that one up to the good old mysterious ways.

(Not that I disagree; there's no reason to believe that any of us are going to anywhere after we die, but I gather that this was not the gist of your argument.)

  • God is dead.

  • I'm thinking of starting a cult - anyone want to join?

    <
