Man I remember playing this game around 2002-2004. I was pretty good at it and now I tried to play again I find controlling the AC to be quite difficult. I lost all ability but i'm learning again haha. I'm going to play through all the games again!
The reason I like opi is because I'm like the other top ravens, if the enemy would not have opi I would dislike using it, but all those bad asses have them and I feel like I wanna be a bad ass like them as well, so thats why I "like" using opi, but I manage without it well.

The Phantasma is a slow and big ass target, regardless of AC layout. You practically have to stand still to get hit, especially for his most powerful attack.
@Jesper0311 Well my legs didn't get a good boost so that may be why I wasn't able to dodge a majority of his attacks, and if I remember correctly the Karasawa wasn't strong. I'm going to have to play AC: PSX again soon.
To me, Plus isn't cheating in AC2 considering every high-ranked AC in the game used it, including Funeral Mask. It feels more like an equalizer than outright cheating, though I'll admit it made things a tad easy.
Armored Core 2. Played it when it first came out. My first future game ever. And even with Halo out and stuff. Armored Core Series will always be the best. Since everything is fully customizable!. So amazing.
This is the first game I had for my ps2. Its certainly different seeing this in japanese though I'll admit I like the ending sequence of the english version better. I never got the hang of moving, jumping, and shooting simultaneously so I've always built a heavy ac and rely on ap and strategy to win.
Armored Core 2 being my first ever AC-game, I re-bought it from an online auction to re-live these moments. I just finished this last mission, guess I'm a little rusty since at the end I had only 70AP left.

Just start up the mission Stop The Surface Weapon then boost over to the outer rocks and keep running around the outer rims rocks and you should find it and press o to get it....
i am not sure but (this is a gess) i thank he might have gotten it from beeting rank aries in the arena (aries is rank one unless you beet him then you are rank one

I thought AC 4 was the best so far... if I wanted lumbering slow giants, I would play Chromehounds... AC4 is mech combat on speed, which is a nice change of pace from... well, there haven't been alot of great mech games to date, but still.
It's good that FS up'd the speed on AC's, but they're way too over-powered now IMO, plus the only real threat to an AC is another AC, which is a real bummer.
Hopefully the next AC game after ACFA will show some more promise (if there is one).
I agree... TPoMW was tough at first... as was AF Answerer... but with a little practice, both are pushovers. In the next ones, I would like to see tougher AFs, maybe a few surprises, like planes and tanks that do more then chip your paint... Granted, I have no idea how to make AFs more fun without making them suicide... most can already chop up an AC in 4-5 good hits, making them more accurate would make it heinous, and making them tougher would just make the battles tedious.
It's a hidden weapon found during a mission. I believe it is in the mission where you must work with two MTs to destroy a moving land weapon in a desert-like area. (It's been a while since I've played AC2, but I am sure someone can remember the mission name.) It's hidden by a small hill if I remember correctly.

I didn't find Kline to be that hard of an enemy, but I did kind of like the guy, he just has this awesome attitude. Plus his AC you fight on the STAI is the one on the cover of the box, and kicks butt, I built an exact copy of that one, it rules. AC2, still one of the best AC games.

The PLUS and OP-I allow the player to be able to use cannon-type weapons on bipeds without having to take a stance, however in the Nexus series these options are only accessible to the NPC AC's and can only be obtained through cheats from devices like Game Shark to my knowledge.
I never understood all the corridor missions for a this series. You think with the mobility of the suits, they would tend to have missions with larger areas.
I liked AC2 way better than any it's PS one predecessors. AC games were never designed to be "fast" that's what made it appealing and that's what separated it from most mech games. (Sadly,until AC4 came out with it's fast-paced clusterfucked gundam-Z.O.E rip-off gameplay.)
I agree. I started out playing MoA and then played all the games since. When I came back to AC2 I was frustrated and confused at how slow things were. Still an excellent game though.

you find the gun on the mission "stop the surface weapon" you find it at the start of the level near the hills in front of you but you have to beat teh mission when you get it or you wont have the gun. nice video i liked it i play this game and when you need to get the shields down on the elevater in the beggining i find jumping works better cause when you jump and slash you can continue moving
In "Stop the Surface Weapon", before you kill the SRMS units, there's a small set of hills on the other side of the level. Be careful though, and equip some high-ammo weapons to keep yourself safe in the level.
Just use a heavy model with a laser blade and the middle missile launcher if you can't play with PLOW yet or are one of those tourneyfags who thinks using something the game allows is cheap.
I recently bought armored core 2 for under $5 (from an EB games), so you should have no trouble getting it cheap assuming you can find a used copy for sale
its too bad this game isnt that popular in the u.s. i know about 3 or 4 people in person who even know that armored core exists. whenever i draw an ac people think its a transformer :(
Armored Core 2 had the best plot in the entire series to this day. It somewhat pains me that FROM Software didn't make any more Armored Core games set on Mars to expand the plot further.
I never could figure out if training your damned AI had any bearing on their battle tactics, either. Anyone have any clue? Now NEXUS was a different story. What an awesome homage to the origins of the game! However, I always insisted that if someone simply engineered finer textures and particle physics onto the AC2 physics engine, IE a remake of AC2 on the PS3, it would be a fucking KILLER. Let's make that happen.
I fucking LOVED this, the first Armored Core for the next gen of consoles. What a whopper. The Arena was practically a campaign in itself. I've played a tiny bit of AC4 and was sorely disappointed. In fact I've been disappointed since AC3 (the graphics were plasticky and the physics were less than swift, IMHO, as missiles were easy to dodge...one really lost the sense that the robots were gigantic, though the missions were fun as hell).

And in case dragonstormx rereads the comments here, this IS a difficult boss, unless you've got the Karasawa and m4d dodging skillz (above) or the Medium missile launcher and the Relation missiles (8x missiles after _1_ lock, fast reload time). Just to make things more difficult, one can try using the Large Rocket instead of missiles altogether (done it, just EXTREMELY good luck aiming) or the flamethrower to be ridiculous.
try strafing while using it, maybe that'll work. or fly and switch to it, then start using it. Or it could be the FCS your using. You never know which it could be, but those are my top three reasonable explanations. I use the FCS thats like and orange egg. Oh ya! Try using a bigger generator, that might work too. Because maybe the generator is limited to a certain output and has to draw power from the legs to make it work. I don't really honestly know.
i can't remember, but my ACs Cthulhu, Dagon, and Hastur can all use them standing up. Plus, I thought that you only had to kneel when using the chain gun. I don't know, I'll f*** around with it, maybe I'll find out.
I guess your not an AC fan so I'm not going to say what it does. All you have to know it allows you to move without kneeling to use cannon like weapons.

It's something that enhances your AC, just like the optional part Intensify. I havent played AC2, but I think you get it by failing some missions, or something :o
It's not an option part. It an enchancement that is perament to your AC and pilot. Get -50k credits on the beginning mission(not the very first mission).
It isn't an Optional Part and you can't get it from the shop. After completing the very first mission you just need to fail every other mission after that to get a debt of 50k (-50,000). At least that is what I have understood, I haven't played anything before Silent Line.

On the mission "Stop The Surface Weapon" go right around the leaving area not out of it and keep looking around the rocks and it should be there...
To help try and make a high armored and high movibility AC so you don`t get killed by the surface weapons.............

you find the gun on the mission "stop the surface weapon" you find it at the start of the level near the hills in front of you but you have to beat teh mission when you get it or you wont have the gun. nice video i liked it i play this game and when you need to get the shields down on the elevater in the beggining i find jumping works better cause when you jump and slash you can continue moving

In "Stop the Surface Weapon", before you kill the SRMS units, there's a small set of hills on the other side of the level. Be careful though, and equip some high-ammo weapons to keep yourself safe in the level.

Just use a heavy model with a laser blade and the middle missile launcher if you can't play with PLOW yet or are one of those tourneyfags who thinks using something the game allows is cheap.

I recently bought armored core 2 for under $5 (from an EB games), so you should have no trouble getting it cheap assuming you can find a used copy for sale

its too bad this game isnt that popular in the u.s. i know about 3 or 4 people in person who even know that armored core exists. whenever i draw an ac people think its a transformer :(

Armored Core 2 had the best plot in the entire series to this day. It somewhat pains me that FROM Software didn't make any more Armored Core games set on Mars to expand the plot further.

I never could figure out if training your damned AI had any bearing on their battle tactics, either. Anyone have any clue? Now NEXUS was a different story. What an awesome homage to the origins of the game! However, I always insisted that if someone simply engineered finer textures and particle physics onto the AC2 physics engine, IE a remake of AC2 on the PS3, it would be a fucking KILLER. Let's make that happen.

I fucking LOVED this, the first Armored Core for the next gen of consoles. What a whopper. The Arena was practically a campaign in itself. I've played a tiny bit of AC4 and was sorely disappointed. In fact I've been disappointed since AC3 (the graphics were plasticky and the physics were less than swift, IMHO, as missiles were easy to dodge...one really lost the sense that the robots were gigantic, though the missions were fun as hell).

ok Cacophanus the game is a little slow but damn you for saying it the weakest. this is the best except for armored core 3. oh and for everyone wondering for those wepons. go to a website fo cheats theylll tell u where to find them

"...the weakest in the series..."? what about Formula Front? And in case dragonstormx rereads the comments here, this IS a difficult boss, unless you've got the Karasawa and m4d dodging skillz (above) or the Medium missile launcher and the Relation missiles (8x missiles after _1_ lock, fast reload time). Just to make things more difficult, one can try using the Large Rocket instead of missiles altogether (done it, just EXTREMELY good luck aiming) or the flamethrower to be ridiculous.

try strafing while using it, maybe that'll work. or fly and switch to it, then start using it. Or it could be the FCS your using. You never know which it could be, but those are my top three reasonable explanations. I use the FCS thats like and orange egg. Oh ya! Try using a bigger generator, that might work too. Because maybe the generator is limited to a certain output and has to draw power from the legs to make it work. I don't really honestly know.

i can't remember, but my ACs Cthulhu, Dagon, and Hastur can all use them standing up. Plus, I thought that you only had to kneel when using the chain gun. I don't know, I'll f*** around with it, maybe I'll find out.

I don't understand why he's using that shoulder weapon with out crouching.??? All the shoulder cannons I use make my mech crouch.

I guess your not an AC fan so I'm not going to say what it does. All you have to know it allows you to move without kneeling to use cannon like weapons.

It's something that enhances your AC, just like the optional part Intensify. I havent played AC2, but I think you get it by failing some missions, or something :o

It's not an option part. It an enchancement that is perament to your AC and pilot. Get -50k credits on the beginning mission(not the very first mission).

I played the mission, and the payment is only 27K, then I had to pay for AC repair, and ammunition.
How do you get 50K???? There are no additional things to destroy.

It isn't an Optional Part and you can't get it from the shop. After completing the very first mission you just need to fail every other mission after that to get a debt of 50k (-50,000). At least that is what I have understood, I haven't played anything before Silent Line.
