@violetlightning They are just paying tribute to an iconic 80's tv show. They make 80's pop culture references all the time on Psych. If you watch it you would know that & that it is original & much better than most crap that's on tv now days.

@ViedeoMaster lots, but I think it first comes up at the end of season one, where the gang has to find a missing mummy from a museum. Shawn is called on the scene early in the morning, and when he shows Juliet his credit in finding a fossil (him and Gus dug it up and turned it in to the museum) the picture credit is given to a "Bruton Gaster". It then becomes a recurring theme for the episode, and which Gus still gets worked up on

When I saw the Monk, PI (Magnum, PI) one done I turned and looked at my friend and said "It'd be awesome if they did one for Psych and it was with Miami Vice." Saw this on TV before Burn Notice and was like "Ah, sweet."
