Why should ubuntu be partitioned in the middle? by doing it I can't install windows as my MBR creates hidden partitions that make the third partition to be actually the fifth partition.. which is more than the allowed 4 primary partitions
doesn't work (anymore?) with lion. i followed the tutorial but all i get is some messed up partitioning on my disk and a cool boot manager that won't see them.
I tried this but wasn't able to get three on after partitioning I ended up having four primary partitions and the last was not primary, all together there were: #1 hidden?, #2 OS X, #3 600MB unknown, #4 one made for Linux then #5 last one for Windows but not primary. The last partition, for Windows, was not primary and Windows couldn't install on it.
@morethanink There's supposedly some software that can make partitions for you, but I wouldn't trust it. I would backup my W7 partition, then delete it, and then make my new partitions (all with Disk Utility).
I just wanted to ask if the laptop is already bootcamped and Has OSX 10.6 and Windows 7 installed, can you do the partition job if you decide later that you want to install a Linux Distro later?
i was at the bit 2:25, i click on the windows partition, i try to format but it says error code blah blah. but then i see a note that says something like "connot install software to this partition because of GTP or somthing...
I have already followed this tutorial except I didn't want to install Windows at the time. If I partition my drive now the Windows partition will be in the middle and the Linux partition will be the third. Will this work?
@gumballtech well, i tried this once before, when i had 2 gigs of ram. whenever i tried to partition it (the ubuntu partition), it would never work. and whenever i tried to boot from the usb i burned ubuntu to, it would never load. and for a note, i had windows 7 installed first already, as i do now as well. so, no i have 4 gig of ram, and im thinking of trying this again. please tell me what you know what i should do in this case. thanks
i just got a macbook pro, and the 'Macintosh HD hard drive' does not show up on my desktop, and after using rEFit, the other hard drives dont show up either. why is this?
@gumballtech i was, sorry about that. Can i ask another question though? Windows 7 won't let me install onto a FAT partition (exFAT and MS-FAT). It says that i need an NTFS partition. What happened?
@gumballtech does the size of my partitions have anything to do with it? Because i am able to format the two 50 gb partitions i made (for Linux Mint and Ubuntu) but not the 200 gb partition i made for win7.
wont let me make a boot camp file so i tried to do the repair disk but it would go to the apple loading sign and it would be on a fkd uop screen, Tried this and i couldnt create a partition HELP
i tried to make the third partition (i already have windows 7 also) and it gave me an error and didnt work. i shudv taken a screenshot of what the error was but maybe i shud repair right?
anyone knows how to do 4 partitions?...i have my windows 7,ubuntu,and mac os installed but i also want another partition for my fedora...can anyone knows how to do it?
Wow this is perfect, good work. I already have windows 7 installed on my macbook pro, is it too late for me to install linux? Or do I have to wipe my windows partition and start over.
First of all, your presentation is awesome. Thank u very much but I downloaded refit and run it. Linux, Wind. Partitions are on my desktop however I can't see those hard discs when I turn on my computer. I didn't use bootcamp for it. I made them in utilities. Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong or is there any video which shows how to divide in bootcamp. (btw the system is 10.6.3, intel)
@gumballtech Oh, thanks for answering. I'm trying to do this on my Dell m1530, so I guess I can't do it this way. Do you know if I can start with Win?
@str8out This is for triple-booting Mac OS X, Windows, and Ubuntu on a Mac, not a PC. You're trying to hackintosh. Insanelymac(.)com or infinitemac(.) come should help you.
I've also been waiting on this specifically for ubuntu... I have my macbook triple booting but my linux side isn't running as smoothly as yours... I'm mostly having trouble with my wifi, but i would also like to see ow you were able to get all the other features working and just your general install process... CAN"T WAIT!!!
thanks...ive been waiting for this...especially the ubuntu OS...ive already tried this but i can not get it. how to triple boot with ubuntu... thanks..ive wait for tutorial

@gumballtech Yeah, I just finished backing up my W7 partition. After I wipe it will disk utility just let me make 3 partitions?

isotonicuk 10 months ago
@isotonicuk No. Once you make your partitions, then that's it, unless you want to start your Windows install over.
You'll probably want to just use Linux in VMware.

can i boot mac 10.6.7, windows xp, and windows 7?
thetommantom 10 months ago
@thetommantom Yup. Would be easier since you don't need Ubuntu. Just make 3 partitions, and install XP after OS X, and then Windows 7 last.

@shtupitman247 You can only boot USB drives from rEFIt. And it's best to put Ubuntu onto a CD, not a flash drive.
gumballtech 1 year ago
Great video! Looks like you went without a swap partition. True? Why?

@LordHardcoreChicken Windows requires an NTFS partition. Just click on the "Format" button from within the Windows installer.
