no, it didn't blow up, it continues to run. i'm pretty sure 50 sum dyno/tune runs run longer than 5 minutes. there are thousands of ls based engines running on entirely stock engines with boost pumping ~600hp. said evo would make that crank snap right there, disintigrate pistons. i'd say 1k+hp mark on an ALL stock engine is pretty damn boost capable.

It's called a better 60ft time. Take this video for example. Truck launched much faster but not as good acceleration, The Evo had a poor launch but then started to catch up. The Evo ran a slower time but came in at over 108mph the truck only came it at 104.

@akoptix the differance in DOM. motors they are lower reving engines. IMPORTs are higher reving engines so they are a little more higher performance and they can take the extra power. take a neon srt4. stock rev is like 6500 or 6800, stock civic high rev is like 7200 to 7500

Mainly the thing with street tires isn't that they don't hold heat, but that they generate grip at lower temp's since that's there main purpose, as opposed to racing tires which generate grip at high temps, but feel slippery at lower temps. This is a big reason that R-compund tires are not meant to be on the street (not even DOT legal) because it would be dangerous, same thing goes for street/race brake pads.

Put all that research, technology and money in something with bigger cubes and see what monster comes out. wow look at SabahAlev or what ever his name is...its personal preference, i built and own a rock crawler/trail truck, a 975 hp camaro that will do about a 9 sec 1/4 mile, a 2003 silverado SS that also runs a 12 sec 1/4 mile, and hands down the SS truck is the most fun build i have ever done, simply because its more challenging to take a very heavy truck and make it haul ass. Boosted 4 bangers are a joke. I'm not opposed to turbos but why start with something so dinky? Put all that research, technology and money in something with bigger cubes and see what monster comes out. Tuners talk so much crap about their small engines and high boost, but they don't consider what would happen if you did that with a V8.

wow look at SabahAlev or what ever his name is...its personal preference, i built and own a rock crawler/trail truck, a 975 hp camaro that will do about a 9 sec 1/4 mile, a 2003 silverado SS that also runs a 12 sec 1/4 mile, and hands down the SS truck is the most fun build i have ever done, simply because its more challenging to take a very heavy truck and make it haul ass. And i think your pissed off because you know your not mechanicly inclined enough to make something not so fast, fast.

My "little pussy car" or "pissed off bumble bee" which you would call it, is pushing close to 680 whp. It's also a daily driver, and I commute an hour and a half a day. I've chewed up and spit out at least 55 V8's on the track and off the track. So I suggest you learn more about cars before you open your mouth!!!

Even if your car has that much power....whats the point in spending that much money on a car that only gets you laughed at everytime you take off? Ive never been at the track watching an import take off and hear sombody say "damn that sounds badass"....the only cars that are worth bragging about are real cars with real muscle. Im sure i could take a vw bug and make it run in the 12s but what would be the point when i look like a dumbass drivin it and braggin about it?

this TRUCK is at dragstrip because it was built to be here from the factory. its AWD not 4WD, there is a difference. and what if it is a 4WD truck, it doesn't mean he/she never had the truck mudding or anything, diesels trucks are fast as hell at the dragstrip i see them there all the time. fact is that trucks can be just as fast cars. your just a little ricer fag that can't stand seeing your whimpy imports lose, especially to a TRUCK. youtube has the proof.

ok fine, 2WD truck would be better off as a prerunner. so long as it has decent front suspention and the right build up. this just is unreasonably stupid, CARS race, trucks should tow things. and go rock crawling, or trail running. manly things. not speed very quickly in a straight line. which is not a very good show of skill.
these trucks are built to go fast that's great...but that's not the point of a truck...

i agree trucks are meant to be used for towing and hauling but there are a few exceptions like the silverado ss which can go fast and haul stuff around. the silverado ss was built to go fast in a straight line, just like the corvette is built to go fast on a road course. that is the vehicles purpose. i just can't stand it when people dis a vehicle that is doing what it was built to do.

1) The tuck has oversized sway bars and a 2-4 Belltech drop, and can Carve a "Road Course"
2) Has a class 5 reciever and a 7flat , that has likely hauled more then any of your "Crawlers/buggys"
3) I have raced motocross for 18 years, needed a hot rod that could haul a bike.

also, i don't care, it just seems like a huge bastardization to take something that can do so much and make it go fast in a straight line or on road. towing is ok and makes a lot of sense. but that truck could have been so much more, it's like having a stripper in a cake and loving over the cake instead.

I don't think I'd give him the credit of being a redneck. He isn't American nor does he understand how and why we raced from the beginning until now. The rum runners and moonshiners evolved every one of their vehicles so the fuzz couldn't keep up. Trucks were no exception. BTW Your 12 seconds speaks for itself. ok then my motto is "ill tow you ass to the track, drag it for the win then tow you home" i agree with the rest it is difficult to take a 6000 lb truck and make it roll out, i also agree that trucks should tow things but why not do both i run low 13s high 12s in a silverado ss and drive it everyday haul whatever i need to and can take it on the beach camping, ill take awd over 4wd everytime i dont like mudding and neither does my truck thats why i own it i like the track over the mud anyday

You're a idiot. Tailgate down increases drag, because the air pushes down on the tailgate coming over the truck. With the tailgate up, a circular wind current is started at the front of the bed, and the wind then gets bounced over this cushion of air over the truck, decreasing drag. (And improved gas mileage opposed to tailgate down.)
