My neighbor had asthma as a child and started smoking in the seventh grade. By high school he was a heavy smoker spending all of his money on cigarettes. After high school he got a job as a truck driver and moved up to five packs a day. By his late thirties he was getting pretty sick and cut down to over two packs a day of filtered cigarettes. He told me the doctor said filters were better but I didn't believe it. Later he switched to "light" cigarettes and went back to chain smoking.
By his mid-forties he was living in an oxygen tent and buying cigarettes through the mail. He used to call me on the phone and ask me to pick up cases of cigarettes. I could never figure out where he got the money.
I never saw anybody smoke so much in my life.
I even remember him smoking while eating a cheeseburger.
Today his chest is a medical exhibit.
I figured he'd smoked over a million cigs when he died.
U ask ppl why dont the govt ban it? and they answer ohh they take 2 much tax!! well.. aside from being a very cynical way of lookin @ things they probably 2 ignorant 2 know that the govt banned asbestos mining when the dangers became known why the exception with cigarettes?
Smoking is obviously adverse for you. You inhale over thousands of toxic chemicals into your body, and it's addictive, draining you of the funds and wellness with each puff you take. Some men and women even die once they take their first puff! That is why quitting smoking is really a must...It is hard, but I have found a great way to quit smoking. @westnblu you obviously don't know how powerful big tobacco is they make over 900,000,000 billion a year do u think any government wants to stop that, and they have tried many times to shut the tobacco business, but they always win because they don't force yo to kill your self (smoke) they spend about 54,000,000 million on adds that's not nearly enough to stop this bad habit my name is timestop and i use to smoke a pack a day sometimes more that's im sure some of u smoke more but lets stop now.

They banned asbestos mining when the dangers of asbestos became known didnt they? and asbestos mining also was big business employing many so wots the difference? tobacco is also supposed 2 b a lethal product also yet it remains legal? how so? dont make sense 2 me.
@westnblu Because you're death is good for the economy, let alone the extra taxes you've payed through smoking. And work? We never have to pay for your retirement. :) Let alone how much money corporations are getting. These ads are for the whiners, ppl pressure the gov to make these ads, but stupid people will do what they want. If a smoker is reading this, live a long life my friend, hehe.

The poisons they talk bout in smokes can b found in proccessed food makeup and many other everyday items we use and consume study the facts and go beyond the brainwashing.And i dont like your arrogant self pompous attitude id suggest u take up smoking it may relax your nerves!! @blooddonator living in a city will give you lung cancer, walking around outside under the sun will give you skin cancer, getting xrays will give you cancer etc etc point being, there are thousands of things people do every single day that MAY give them cancer, so what? smoking cigarettes is an extreme case, but smoking pipes and cigars is not, so they can't even be put in the same topic... people that know whats best for everyone else piss me off

@lobzdik Cigars and pipes won't screw up your lungs as badly since you're not supposed to inhale the smoke, but they'll still give you mouth cancer.
