I would hardly call Iran's attempts to destabilize Israel primitive. If you recall Hezbollah restored arab nationalism by proving Israel was not as invincible as it had seemed from the 6 day and Yum Kapur wars. Iran doesn't go for Jordan or Egypt because in the 80's Lebanon's civil war made it so easy to create their own loyal faction which is now Hezbollah. Lebanon, a country filled with divers religions, interesting culture. Mountains for ski in the winter (faraya, cedars ...). Mediterranean sea for swimming, water ski and water sports. I would hardly call Iran's attempts to destabilize Israel primitive. If you recall Hezbollah restored arab nationalism by proving Israel was not as invincible as it had seemed from the 6 day and Yum Kapur wars. Iran doesn't go for Jordan or Egypt because in the 80's Lebanon's civil war made it so easy to create their own loyal faction which is now Hezbollah. Not to mention Jordan and Egypt don't posses a decent Shiite population. It just makes sense for Iran to be in Lebanon.

Despite speculation Iran cares about the Sunni population which is why we care so much about the Palestinians. If anything I think you should be asking why the Sunni's hate Persians so much. We're too busy trying to unite the middle east for a common good while arabs are too busy disagreeing with us and each other (Fatah and Hamas being a prime example). For the past century arabs can't seem to coordinate anything amongst each other which explains why we lost the 2 wars with Israel so badly.

first of all,Harriri had alliace with Hezbollah because,ass a former president he couldn't worked withoud Hezbollah's Power in lebanon!Shiia's are over 60% and Hezbollah represents them!So he had to took the Shia interrests seriously!otherwise his Goverment would collapse!Secondly:Most of the Shiia's in jounub had to boycott the votings,because they don't become their Rights anyway!

Second, the power in lebanon is divided between sunnies and shii's and christians AND the opposition, including hezbollah, do not have more members of parliament, the opposition is a minority,,,the only reason why the situation is tense is because for the first time, the people can elect a president not forced by Syria as used to happen earlier.
