The first I ever saw of Fred Willard was when he played sidekick to Martin Mull on "America Tonight" as Jerry Hubbard back in the late 70's. He is a truly master of playing the oblivious idiot who doesn't realize that the only person who finds himself amusing is himself. He does it so well that you can't help but want to fall on the floor with some of the lines he come up with. Christoper Guest has utilized him well, not only in this movie, but in "Best In Show" as well.

For those who don't know, "A Mighty Wind" is a very funny satire on folk music that you can find in bargain bins for a few bucks.

Fred Willard is great, as are the three guys from "Spinal Tap," Christhopher Guest (director too,) Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer.
