Essien only hit it like that because it was spinning as it came to him its not that hard. ronaldo's goal was all about him beating virtually all his men and then scoring, if you meant rooney its because of the skill on the counter attack, they were all good goals, id say Scholes.

I see some people saying that the Rooney goal against Bolton shouldn't be up there, that is just ridiculous. The reason it was nominated is not just because of the finish, but the counter-attack from one end of the pitch to the other. The connection between the two is what made the goal so beautiful and the reason you watch football.

The goals by Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo weren't anything special...don't want to sound like an asshole, but there were better goals than that last season that weren't put up as options (Rooney's was right over the keepers head when he slid down - I know he needed to do it at just the right time, which takes skill, but if the keeper just stood there or dived down on an angle instead of expecting a grounded shot he would have saved it)

Rooney's not that good?! That goal was sensational front to back, even if Ronaldo had the best of it. I loved Taylor's strike; the presence to even think to shoot from there! But it's got to be either Scholes or Van Persie; two of the best volleys you will ever see.
