On Gulfstreams and many other aircraft the pilots can choose between ON or Pulsating landing lights. A lot of pilots opt for pulsating landing lights in the day time on take off and approach, just to be more visible to others...
@usairwayz The take off performance at MTOW ISA Conditions at Sea level is 5910 ft. But this number can decrease or increase based on the load of the aircraft and other outside factors such as temperature, airport elevation... But it is possible for a Gulfstream G550 to take off from 5500 ft runways and even shorter if it's lighter than MTOW.
Brilliant videos. Were all the wet weather ones taken the same day? Some lineup of aircraft for Shannon!! Did you know the Dreamliner was going to be there?
@shakey1892 Thanks. Yes they were all taken on the same day. I knew the Dreamliner was going to be there alright. Travelled up from Cork that morning to see it.
Those are recogniztion lights or strobe lights so that other airplanes can see them especially during landing and takeoff which are the most dangerous phases of flight due to the airplane being fast and close to the ground. AKA no room for error
I was in it

@patmichl can a Gulfstream take off and land on a 5500 or 5,500 feet runway?

I've a question; why inboard ligths are flashing? Has it special meaning by any regulation?
(I don't know are they "landing lights" or "runway turn off lights" in this plane, thatswhy I asked "inboard lights",... sorry)

@hakan737 I was wondering the same thing myself. I don't know. It would be interesting to find out the answer.
