The reason we grow beef, pork & chicken stc. is because there is a net nitritional gain from feeding grain to an animal then eating the animal. Just stoping eating animals only transfers the problem from one food source to another. It is about creating more calories not about simply shifting the food source.

@spfd- i used to be an organic farmer. I quit for one simple reason. When a swarm of insects would invade my fields i could do nothing to prevent them from eating and destroying my crop. @theegapman -actually the application of molecualr genitics helps everything you just mentioned. Consumers-do not consume pesticide sprayed food and have more supply so food is cheaper. Farmers-do not have to handle harmfull chemicals like pesticides and farmers make more money and food for the world b/c bio-tech crops yeild 50% more. Business- more money, more food, more comerce, all good. Nature- GMO's effectivley end the era of harmful pesticides contamination of our streams and rivers

GM foods do not decrease the need for pesticides or herbicides because they are not perfect and nature adapts faster then the science. Also Monsanto makes farmers dependent on their seed. They are not allowed to keep extra seed or use 2nd generation seed. All seed must be bought time after time from Monsanto. The profit lost is 45% every year due to signing that BS contract for their "plants".

In computer science there is an algorithm to determine weather an inevitable bug in a program is worth fixing. There comes a point, when fixing one bug is determined to be pointless fixing as the algorithm accurately predicts it will only create another bug or more bugs elsewhere. There is no new farmland to be found. How are we going to produce 50% more food in 40 years? The only answer in scientific innovation the way i see it. The reason we grow beef, pork & chicken stc. is because there is a net nitritional gain from feeding grain to an animal then eating the animal. Just stoping eating animals only transfers the problem from one food source to another. It is about creating more calories not about simply shifting the food source.

@spfd- i used to be an organic farmer. I quit for one simple reason. When a swarm of insects would invade my fields i could do nothing to prevent them from eating and destroying my crop. But worse yet... every bite an insect takes and every shit an insect takes is transfered into the plant tissue and all the desieses extracted from the rotting carcass the swarm of insects were just feeding on are transfered onto your delicious Organic dinner plate

(Dupony, Bayer, Mon, Syngenta, ect.) @theegapman -actually the application of molecualr genitics helps everything you just mentioned. Consumers-do not consume pesticide sprayed food and have more supply so food is cheaper. Farmers-do not have to handle harmfull chemicals like pesticides and farmers make more money and food for the world b/c bio-tech crops yeild 50% more. Business- more money, more food, more comerce, all good. Nature- GMO's effectivley end the era of harmful pesticides contamination of our streams and rivers

GM foods do not decrease the need for pesticides or herbicides because they are not perfect and nature adapts faster then the science. Also Monsanto makes farmers dependent on their seed. They are not allowed to keep extra seed or use 2nd generation seed. All seed must be bought time after time from Monsanto. The profit lost is 45% every year due to signing that BS contract for their "plants".

@dabatjelly - where do you get the idea that any consumer can be "forced" to buy only one product? Seed is like every other product, there are about 150 bio-tech companies selling seed in the US. Monsanto, Dupont and Syngenta are the big 3 research and development companies who's traits are usually in seed that farmers purchase. Farmers do not buy and grow GMO crops b/c we are forced to, we do it because we make more money b/c they yield more.

Because of the power and secret shaking hands, becoming self sufficient is the first way to protect your family and fight their power. Rely less on mass produced foods, read labels and grow a garden. Support your local farms, and be wary of organic products as this industry has become tainted as well. Even growing chem-free food for the farmers market my produce is a victim of GMO/chemical poisoning just by being next door. I refuse to ever be organic certified. Blacklist anything with soy!
