Its a pity they dont do a rerun of this it was just brilliant and actually far more believeable than crap like City Homicide and all the other modern shyte.
Thanks for showing this and reminding us of such a great show. I have the Eric Jupp gramophone recording here and have just played this theme. And the icing on the cake is, now that Matlock Police has finished on WIN-TV, the "replacement" is HOMICIDE. The first episode they played this morning, was the first "regular" episode: "The Stunt". We can't wait for the remainder!
I think you're right! I'm not 100% sure either but I DO have a vague memory of seeing him as a baddie too. Maybe they liked his work and offered him a role.
Good clip ... In the DI's office there is a picture of the Queen ... My mother painted it in the 1950's and it was aquired by Crawford's in the early 1960's and used in their productions
This version is from a Tv Themes record and was performed by Eric Jupp & his Orchestra. Eric also performed the original themes to Division 4 and Matlock Police on the same record, but like the Homicide theme posted here these versions are also longer and slightly different to the tv versions.
Yep - the "Homicide" theme was a piece of library music titled "Victory". the theme for "Division 4" was "Power Drive", and the "Matlock" theme was "Project In Operation".
Nice post! I suspect however that this musical arrangement is not absolutely identical with the original theme. No matter. Strangely enough, the original theme accompanies a few moments of a mini documentary on future visions that accompnies the Blu ray version of 2001: A Space Odyssey as a DVD extra. Check it out some time, amazing!

I heard the Division 4 theme being used in a action sequence in the 1960s Spiderman cartoon.

I'm sure that Norman Yemm who was one of the Detectives played a baddie in an early episode of Homicide. I may be wrong.

Great Aussie TV show of it's time. Back when themes where heard & openings & credits were seen. Loved the music!
