cool to see how much of kasparov there is in this game. i'm in the "kasparov would have crushed fischer" camp, but you can also see that kasparov learned a lot and found many of his creative ideas from fischer games.
Really? Computers say Bobby played far and away the strongest moves ever. Garry isn't even second.on some of the lists. Garry was ahead of the field, Bobby lapped his field by 100 ELO. Garry wrote books, Bobby had books written ABOUT HIM. Garry had fans, Bobby had stalkers, decades after he retired. Kasparov had a brilliancy at age 36, Bobby played the Brilliancy of the Century at age 13. Garry was a legend. Bobby Fischer was something else. There's no comparison.
Nice work on this amazing game. Some notes about GM Robert Byrne from memory. He became the chess columnist for the New York Times and covered many international chess events as a player and journalist. He reached the world championship candidates matches. Some years ago the NY Times had a financial crisis and the paper discontinued columns on chess and stamp collecting among others. I believe Robert Byrne was the last (regularly appearing) chess columnist at the NY Times.
This game is just baffling. I would have played all those moves as white. The position looks totally solid and black's attack seems to come from nowhere.
that shows how hopeless kings and horses get without the protection of pawns when most central lines and diagonals are cleared. but it still requires great depth of analysis to make it work. Ive seen the game many times and still can only guess the moves and still get surprised of their massive effect. great video :)
the final position is so amazing. black is a minor piece down, all of his pieces are not further advanced than the second rank and white has to resign!
this shows also, how good and dangerous bishops are in open positions and without their counterparts. Great Game! Thanks KC!
I really like the way you analyze in this vid. You keep the 'narrative' of the game going and then go back and do some variations. That is a much clearer way of showing the dynamics of the game than going through endless computer variations of each significant position. You are a star, KC!
Byrne featured in the BBC TV's Master Series from 1980 -83 vs Korchnoi, each player narrating his thoughts on the game as if live. Korchnoi spent all his time getting his ducks in a row before blitzing out the rest of his moves, the ultimate in 'strategic crush' . It's on SirB0b1's channe
first for the first time!...espectacular game and nice analysis as usual...it's incredible how Fischer look at every exact variation long before engines appeared...thanks a lot KC!...cheers

Its incredible to see Fischer treat grand masters like amateurs and at the same time avoid clinical playing.
