It's not too late. Although the treaty has been signed, all the signatory countries will have to turn it into national laws. It is an international agreement to fight piracy, but passing laws in the countries is the countries' responsibility. The US has already signed ACTA< as it is not a law but a n international agreement. SOPA/PIPA were examples of laws, which happened NOT be passed.

I think what our countries signed is an agreement that they will see that ACTA becomes law. However it is NOT yet law and that means we can still do something about it! Put your representatives in congress (I think ur american, no? In my case, it's the EU parliament) under pressure. It's not too late. Although the treaty has been signed, all the signatory countries will have to turn it into national laws. Once it hasn't happened yet, we can fight it by forcing the parliament/congress of our respective countries not to create any laws regarding outrageous policies against online privacy, or at least, extreme acts to ACTA infringement. So this might wane as many other international agreements whose members don't respect or fail to honor.

The Brit Par won't be voting on it until June of this year, but they're expected to approve it, so there goes Europe. Either way, the US is still on board, so we're stuck with it.

No offence but you seem misinformed. ACTA doesn't give the government power to do anything, in fact it was signed already. It is an international agreement to fight piracy, but passing laws in the countries is the countries' responsibility. The US has already signed ACTA< as it is not a law but a n international agreement. SOPA/PIPA were examples of laws, which happened NOT be passed.

Slovakian government will consider whether signing or not after 2 week debate in parliament, but only after the new elections. But the soon to be winner of elections with more than 50 percent of votes expressed his refusal 2 ACTAAsItIs. According to ACTA, if one person pays to learn something and teaches it to another free of charge, it's illegal. Then I thought that this would make teaching illegal, and there's no way it would pass. Then I realized that teaching would still exist, but FREE education would not.
