It's based on very bad hypothesis and misinformation -- i.e. it's no different than the history euro-centric/neo nazis will make up to suggest that X civilization was founded by 'White - Aryan" people.

@karausu I have never seen anyone claim that the Olmec were African "American" (and there are no creditable scholar (Afrocentrics as you put it), has ever said that. Now if you mean scholars who have done the research and have come to the conclusion that the Olmec were Africans who came to trade with Asians who mixed in earlier time with Australians (who are also African), than yes I support it.

@karausu Dr. Van Sertima was a brilliant man, and he was far from Afrocentric, allow me to educate you on the meaning Afrocentrism, Afrocentrism is the study of African centered culture in Africa such as Egypt (the entire Nile Valley and so on aka all things African).

That is credible, just because whites and some of you don't agree with him does not make him not credible.

In concerns of the Olmec, linguistic studies, religious similarities, racial similarities between the Afro-Olmecs and West Africans is ignored.

You didn't give me anything prior to this; we went back and forth about Sertima.
If you believe that the Olmecs were Africans, please provide some evidence; i.e. epigraphic, genetic or osteological evidence; I believe I'm pretty clear in what I'm asking for, and for good reason; in the past i've only received "evidence" based off of facial features on a statues.

@karausu ; If one really looks at the Olmec heads, and investigates indigenous peoples of the region today (not descendants of slaves), and those in S.America, then one will see that they resemble those stone heads. The stone heads are the main argument for the afrocentrics. Other than that, there is no evidence. There is an obvious agenda going on.

He's also pulled some sources to me on this subject that was supposed to be proof of their claims. Other than that, of course Africans and African descendants have a history. But it's not them "founding" the Americas. The proof of this is the indigenous presence today, and the artwork that exists from antiquity. Medjay is only saving face at this point.

There is NO evidence that africans were in the Americas pre-columbian; none. Now, I'm aware that no evidence doesn't necessarily say that they weren't there -- but you have no evidence to claim that they were.
