  • I love the part late in the video where he throws his head back and does that maniacal shrill laugh, bwahahahahaha! And that crazy look in his eyes. Unforgetable.

  • what a beautiful song.

  • I should also add that Lee had ....a marvellous voice, was lyrically strong, and a great ear for melody.

  • Quite brilliant......I'm glad I caught him live at the Festival Hall, London during the last couple of years of his life. .....a massive talent

  • wauw - amazing gem... thanx

  • He had a great voice--and his lyrics were great!

  • the man was genius

  • he looks pretty sad : (

  • How sweet ! I bet his daughter loved it !

  • Wish he was my dad.

  • About 14-- that's what I told the court under oath . Maybe I should've talked/sung it.

  • If you listen closely you can hear him say that she's about 14.

  • He said:

I've written songs FOR and ABOUT many people.

This one is FOR my daughter Debbie. She's ABOUT... 14.

    Did you get it know?

  • "About 14" means that she will soon be 14, may be in a few days, silly.

  • he's cool like that

  • .....just hugely talented on every level.

  • Lee Hazlewood hero!!

  • Lee Hazelwood's name should be on everyone's lips. he ought to have been as insanely global as, say, U2 or R.E.M.

this song is astonishing, and if you can watch it with dry eyes, you might be made of granite.

  • My daughter will be born in a couple months and this is already our song. I stumbled upon this song a couple days ago and Lee's Voice and the lyrics blew me away. Thanks for posting.

  • Imagine your father writing this song for you. If I had to pick one favourite of Lee this one is really up there.

  • One of the best and most underrated songwriters of all time.

  • l fucking love that song

  • Wow ! Which LP / CD are the three songs from this TV show on ? I checked "Love & other crimes" (the LP) but could't find them !

  • They're available on the recently released "Strung Out On Something New: The Reprise Recordings", for around 40 dollars. I'm sure they've been released on another album sometime, but that CD is probably the easiest to find at this point.

As for this song particularly, it's gorgeous. Such a pure expression of fatherly love. Touching!

  • Wow. Love that voice. Thanks for all the great music, Lee. "Some Velvet Morning", "Sand", "Sundown, Sundown" - those three songs alone put you up there with the very best. (If you like this, also check out "Long Black Train".)

  • A giant among men.

  • "In the end there was nothing, but it was no fun waiting for nothing to end."

    Rest in peace.
