Im looking to buy new trucks. My current trucks are the 9 inch gulfwing truck. But I picked up 75mm Orangatang wheels, should i buy a bigger truck size to support those wheels?
You don't need bigger trucks, but I upgrade from those crappy china gullwings would be a great idea. I would suggest some Bear 852s for a good all around truck.
Do you know what could be a better bushing setup for freeride and Downhill under 60kmph with Randal 180's than Venom 85a barrels roadside and 87a barrels boardside? I quite likethe turning feel especially at highspeeds it feels great and I was just wondering if there could be something nicer preferably with Venom busings. Also I like quite a bit of lean and smooth turning for freeride.
@zombiesh78 Thanks! Just to let you know, I'm 15 years old and grew 2 feet in 2 days, and now way 379 pounds! I now measure at 12ft 6inch and weigh 379 pounds.
Can you guys please do a tutorial on pintail set ups? Im looking at changing everything on mine besides the deck. So please help me. BTW it's a Sector9 Carvin 9er on 9in gullwing bombers and some s9 wheels/bearings.
Hey! Ive got an Apex 37 carbon, Bear 852s, Pink Powerballs, Bones reds. Is this a good set up? What are the potetntials of this? Should I change some parts? Im new to longboarding btw. Thanks!
Ok, so I'm 5'11" and about 230 pounds. I've been riding for about 4 months and I really wanna get into sliding. I ride on a sector nine carbonate and I want to change the wheels to some orangatangs. Got anymore advice?
P.S. I'm stuck in miami so it's pretty hard for me to get hills.
I'm new to longboarding but I skateboard, and I was wondering about some of the dimensions of a longboard. I want to get the pussy gato, original trucks and orangagtang wheels. I am confused about the length of the trucks and the mm of the wheels. How big should the trucks be? What size should the wheels be if i get the pussy gato? I want to get soft wheels because i want to use the board for just riding around town,not so much for bombing hills. Do you have any other recomendations?
man.. all these gearporn comments and vids regarding what specific truck angle, deck shape, wheel size etc.. works best in what situation.... Let's face it, more or less none of us have an actual intricate understanding of the physics in play... bottom line: ride what feels good.
im 5.5' and weigh 120 lbs i wnat a board that that gives max speed possible also what mm wheels and what durometer for the most speed ? also what bearings ,sorry for being nub -.- pls respond its will be really helpful tyvm
@volunteermocha id reccommend the new mileneam eagle its like the mileneam falcon but withought copyright infringement if you buybit complete you should be able to hit light speed but i advise venom downhill bushings to help with speed wobble.
@screenscanner ya well a good small board is the city cruiser from sector nine, but if you want one for amazing cruising, the get the switchblade from landyachtz.
I am a skater and i want to get a longboard for commuting around the city and my neighbourhood as my skateboard is noisy and not fast enough. could anybody recommend me a longboard? p.s i still want to be able to ollie up gutters and shit so i guess i'll need a back kick.
@screenscanner just put some sector 9 ceramic bearings on longboard wheels on ur normal bord then go for a sector 9 dropthrough deck when u want or can afford it or summpin like that
I've been skating for a while but I've wanted a longboard just to help me get around quick without using a bike. I wanted something that doesn't get wheelbite and i don't want to slip out at all. something really really fast too. I weigh about 155 and I'm 5'9. any suggestions?(:
i have the comet voodoo doll symmetrical with randall 180s on a 42 degree plate right now I'm using it for freeride/dh and i have been thinking of switching to indy hybrid 215s i know these trucks slide really easy but would they be as stable as the randall?
im a trained assasin and my pet dragon has a friend who wants a longboard to see if he can reach light speed. he has two llamas he can buy a board with. his friend is around 98' 2" and probably a few tons, what do you recommend for lightspeed ground travel?
I'm 5'11" and i love downhill and crusing but i want to get some slide gloves and get some diversity in my longboarding. I am looking at a dervish with the paris 180 trucks, 70mm 80a In heats and swiss bones. Would this be a good all around board for what i do currently and if i want to delve into some sliding?
What are your thoughts on the Landyachtz The Switch? I'm thinking about getting one. I have a never summer swift with the cheapest everything and I'm getting tired of wiping out >_<
Hey i want to putt my board to getter i already get a board but do you know some good hardware trucks,wheels but i already have seen this trucks UP-trucks Longboard its in dutch but i hope you can figure it out and they ask soft medium or hard with trucks what do they mean with that if its stiff or not ?
I would say go with standard, I havent tried the makai drop carve but im guessing it is around the same ride as the LY Drop Carve, which just got a w concave for better freeriding ability. So look into that too.
Hey so I'm about 5'9" and 180lbs and have been long boarding for about a year but I'm trying to build a new setup. I'm thinking of getting a loaded dervish deck with randal 180s, bones reds, 75mm lime bigzigs, and standard 86a venom bushings. I usually do cruising, carving, and some moderate hills. I know it's a lot of info, but I just want to see if this is a pretty good setup.
That sounds like a good setup, the big zigs are def great for that roll speed (cruising and carving)
Keep in mind that if you ever want to look into some freeride i would get some 70mm wheels. The cool thing about 70mm over 75mm in freeriding is that once you do some sort of a slide and shave off speed, they will accelerate much faster. Other than that sounds like you will have a bunch of fun on that board.
@sparticus3451 that's one ass backwards setup... Don't get an evo if you want to slide. If you want a drop deck that feels really nice on hills and slides well get a fivemile a10 warthog. And don't get stimulus for dowhill. If you want a really do it all wheel get 80a venom cannibals. And truck wise get calibers. 50s or 44s work great for downhill freeride. The stuck bushings are kick ass as well. Call motion for more help
So I'm looking at a new setup, I want the Landyachtz Evo and Orangatang 70mm Stimulus 83a. I really want to get into sliding and major downhill, what kind of trucks, bearings, and bushings do you recommend?
So ive got a sector 9 burleigh (42"L 9.5"W Bamboo) and im thinking about getting paris 180 trucks and orangotang in heats, either 80a or 86a. is that a decent set up?
im thinking of getting a sector 9 downhill division "annika" with prandals 42 degree 180mm hangar and i would to have 75mm wheels but will i get wheelbite with that size of wheel? should i step down to 70mm?
Is there a speed that the swallow tail really starts to add speed and accel? Or does it add some right from the start? And will paris 180s work on this board wiht 70mm wheels?
haha, the swallowtail doesn't really add any speed, it's just a design thing. yes paris 180's and 70mm wheels on this puppy are a match made in heaven.
you guys should do more freestyle board videos yall act like downhill is the only aspect of longboarding but i love doing flat tricks like shovits and tiger claw type stuff. i love ur vids but i wanna see more stuff from the technical side of longboarding.
@dmack1941 dont buy gullwings. the stalkers are overpriced, and they dont preform very well. hopefully the new company direction will lead to better product, but for the time being, but randals paris or bears
hi im new to skateboarding and long boarding i don't have a board but im getting one soon but the thing is when i try to skate on any board it always turns really sharp and makes me jump off should i ride tighter trucks im a big guy pushing 250
@MotionBoardshop And will it be easy to change the Paris baseplate for a Randall one or I it will be "hard" because of the difference of the manufacturer ... And is it stable for DH and for freeride/ technical DH (a Prandal) ?
Ok, thats the story: I have a Rayne Avenger, and I'll buy a new board. I want a freeriding and downhill board in Rayne. I hesitate beetween the Nemesis or the Demonseed. The problem is that I want a drop-thru board that is a little bit longuer then my Avenger (wich I loove), to try something different. Peoples says to me to buy the Nemesis but his board has the same characteristics then the Avenger: same size, top-mounted etc. So is it worth to buy the Demonseed or the shoul I get the Nemesis ?
Just got a board, anyone have some good sources on just learning about the different types ?

sorry for the stupid question> which way do reverse kingpin trucks face and which way do regualr trucks face on your board?
answer please
013MasteRSA 1 month ago
@013MasteRSA
A simple trick to remember is that the Pivot Cup of the truck should always be on the outside of the truck. Also the kingpin should be pointing in the direction of the nose/tail.
MotionBoardshop 1 month ago
@MotionBoardshop is that for reverse kingpin trucks, because my trucks have the pivot cup on the inside?
013MasteRSA 1 month ago
@013MasteRSA
Yes. Yes it is. The king pin should always be pointed in the general direction of the nose/tail.
MotionBoardshop 1 month ago
@MotionBoardshop my longboard truck kingpin is on the inside of the board but slightly facing the nose/tail. and my pivot cup is on the outside
013MasteRSA 1 month ago
@013MasteRSA
That makes plenty of sense. You have a set of Vertical Kingpin Trucks or Independent Style set of trucks.

Is there a speed that the swallow tail really starts to add speed and accel? Or does it add some right from the start? And will paris 180s work on this board wiht 70mm wheels?
Duanka007 1 year ago
@Duanka007
haha, the swallowtail doesn't really add any speed, it's just a design thing. yes paris 180's and 70mm wheels on this puppy are a match made in heaven.

hey man would you happen to no if the gullwing stalker trucks are any good for just cruising??
dmack1941 1 year ago
@dmack1941 dont buy gullwings. the stalkers are overpriced, and they dont preform very well. hopefully the new company direction will lead to better product, but for the time being, but randals paris or bears

hi im new to skateboarding and long boarding i don't have a board but im getting one soon but the thing is when i try to skate on any board it always turns really sharp and makes me jump off should i ride tighter trucks im a big guy pushing 250
duby149 1 year ago
@duby149
some practice and maybe a little bit tighter trucks might help you out. Just make sure you lean into your turns.

Can you put 42* Randall Baseplate on Paris 180' ?
mrPACarrier 1 year ago
@mrPACarrier
Definitely! The "prandal" is a very popular setup.
MotionBoardshop 1 year ago
@MotionBoardshop And will it be easy to change the Paris baseplate for a Randall one or I it will be "hard" because of the difference of the manufacturer ... And is it stable for DH and for freeride/ technical DH (a Prandal) ?
mrPACarrier 1 year ago
@mrPACarrier It is pretty easy to change them around.They stuff they make are realatively similar.
I wouldn't go above 15mph on them though.They are made to carve,not be stable.

Which type of longboard truck set up do you recommend for downhill but can also be turny.
