I work at a museum in Auckland, New Zealand. We have one of these and this video gives us an idea of what ours probably looked like when it arrived in the country. Thanks for sharing and very well done.
They were used in gran elevators all over the Canadian prairies. The finest engine ever built. Speed was controlled very accurateley, fuel consuption was low. Fix that flat belt on the turbine before someone gets hurt!!
@21trident , thnx for your comments, yes it is pleasure to own great piece of history, pity they don't make parts any more, otherwise we will see lot more of these engines being restored. It took us nearly three years to complete this project but still require some parts, which we are actively looking for.
Wonderul to see this old engine running again and doing something useful. I have a 1934 Ruston 6HR and it is being installed into a shed to drive some old belt driven machinery (museum) Did you do the restoration yourselves and do you have any good tips on getting them up and running as you have done? I notice that you start it with a small engine/pilot motor?
@rustyiron100 thank you for your support, we have managed to get an original self starter system (1 with a big cylinder etc) here in England, waiting to be shipped to Pakistan. can't wait to see that's working too!!!!
You really have a superbly restored practical engine, I bet you are very proud of yourselves & quite rightly too. Thank you for sharing this with us & I hope your engine runs trouble free for many many years.
U r welcome, yes we r proud to have a part of history and yes it was a pleasure working on this project with my dad. We r still gethering parts to finish of final few bits, as now we've obtained drawing and part list.
Outstanding!
