They are fun and cool pistols. I have had the 4" older model 22/45 MKII for maybe 12 years.
I had the front sight moved back slightly and the barrel threaded for my SDS6 suppressor. To be completely politically incorrect I use an M16A1 flash hider for a thread protector while the suppressor is mounted on my 10/22.
Nice gun, I have the one with the slightly shorter but still cool looking slab side barrel. I trust you made it home OK, all that wind noise in the video I was kind of waiting for the spot where your truck got sucked up into a tornado.
I ordered this exact model this morning then went looking for vids tonight. I saw some other reviews saying this thing was a real pain in the butt to take down to clean. Can you comment on that? I'm considering cancelling my order if it's as much trouble as they were saying.
I hope you didn't xnl your order! I've had mine for two three years now and love it! Not EVERY firearm is going to fall apart after removing a "take down pin". From the beginning I did not consider the take down to be an issue.
So it takes an extra few seconds. With the accuracy and the cost per magazine to shoot this, it's all relative. I own a Glock 19 and a Ruger SR9c also, but my 22/45 is my favorite to shoot. And not just due to the cost!
@lostburro good point, gimme a couple recommendations .. except for an antique Marlin I don't have any other 22s so I'm not up on ammo. I have way too much .40 ammo that I tried to go cheap on and discovered I shouldn't have wasted my money LOL. I'd rather not experiment any more :)
If you plan to shoot a LOT, for bulk ammo, I would recommend the Federal Champion "Value Pack". If you have the money to spend, CCI Stinger or pretty much any CCI 22LR ammo. Personal preference...so that I don't get a bunch of crap from people....I would stay away from ANY bulk 22LR ammo produced by Remington. Whether it be Remington "Thunderbolt", "Peters" or whatever. READ THE LABEL. My experience with ALL cheap Remington mfg ammo, is that it sucks. You get what you pay for!
Nice. My 22/45 is at the factory right now. The trigger stopped working on me(I suspect the dumb mag safety linkage stopped working). Cant wait to get it back so I can afford to shoot guns again! lol
congrats on that xylophone player they are really nice I can't believe I haven't got one yet knowing how reliable and great plinkers they are hope you didn't get blown away..
Those are some wicked looking clouds! I've got that same exact pistol. My only complaint is that it's a real bitch to get back together after taking it apart the first few times. I couldn't believe that the instructions call for a rubber mallet in order to field strip. Not a bad pistol though. Cool video.
22s are a lot of fun, don't have the Ruger 22/45 heard a lot of good things about them. Just got a Sig 1911-22 a couple of days ago. Got about 40 rounds though it, 22s are sooo much cheaper the 45s. That wind out their is something else wow!
I have the mark 2 version & got it years before the mark 3 version came out. It's stainless & has a 51/2" bull barrel. It's in a couple of my older vids.
Congrats on the new gun, it's a solid piece. I recommend round nose ammo such as the CCI minimags or something comparable.
Great pistol. I have almost the same model (barrel a bit different) and if I'm at the range, it's at the range. Hope that you find reassembly a little easier than I do.
Congrats bro..careful tho those CAN be addicting..I got mine last x-mas and it's become my favorite shooter..BTW throw a cheap red-dot on the included picatinny and have some fun!
Congratulations on the new purchased. I got mine 2 months ago. and we have shot so many times. Fun little weapon not a single issue. Congrats again. Very addictive gun, we have 5 magazines total and of course the speed loader (which i highly recommend) Let me know when you want to go shooting.
@GunWebsites Thanks. Nope, I didn't spring for that one. So far I'm pretty happy with the molded-in grips though. Don't think I'll be changing anything.
I have the one with the slab side barrel and i love it

@kgradio Terrible mic on my camera - it amplifies the slightest breeze. I like that slab-sided one too.

You cant go wrong with the ruger, may want to get a mic with a wind sock. Enjoy that Ruger.

@ElDub50 I think it gets easier the more often you take it down, but yeah - it was pretty difficult the first time I did it.

@ElDub50 It is a great pistol. I would not say its "hard" to take down , but definatly confusing.

@Rockit181 yeah, I played with one for awhile and it's no big deal. Had my local guy set one aside for me until I sell one of my seldom-used guns.

@gunsite308 Maybe, when budget allows. I think I'll try to get more accurate with the existing sights first.
TheLateBoyScout 7 months ago
@gunsite308 Thanks. I fought tooth and nail to get that thing disassembled and reassembled the other day. Man, what a workout.

my son has been bugging me, he wants this. I think its a good match to go with his Ruger 10/22 rifle. Fun and cheap to shoot.
