Does anybody think that this amp could do parkway drive and killswitch engage. because i love both of those bands tones but i dont wanna buy a peavey 6505 because apparently the clean channel isnt that great.
@morjy360 I'd agree with givemeajackson. i've got the series one 104el34 head and a marshall 1960A cabinet. its brilliant for parkway drive and killswitch, and it works really well with active pickups and EMGs. once you've played with the settings for a bit and crank it, it sounds fab. there is SHITLOADS of gain on tap too.
still can't find a video of this guy i like...Dunno why,he's a fantastic player,but in these videos blackstar do always sound lifeless to me...maybe it's a matter of guitars (the only video i quite liked was the ht100 one in which he was using an eclipse,the only esp that doesn't sound harsh and sterile to me),but when i saw rob chappers vid of this head i was astonished...now it's so meh
oh man, second song is so alter bridge its not even funny.. andy i know you got some alter bridge influence - and that completely amazes me lol.. cause i had loved alter bridge before i found out about you and you are the best damn player out there imo!
Awesome, I got the Series ONE 200 and it replaced my Diezel, Engl and 5150s as my main studio and live amp! Now I just have to get as good as James... Blackstar all the way!!!
@sl4y3r19772006 Is it enough gainy? I tried a 100watter S-1 and i found it lacked gain,fatness,low end...sounded a bit sterile to me...is the 200w that different?
@djhawkster sure,but I always heard about people criticizin the 200w BS for being weak anyway...with a totally not saturated kind of distortion...dunno,maybe it's a blackstar charateristic? More dynamic response and less compression n saturation?

This sounds awesome, I have been saving for the HT-100 but think i'd wait a couple more moths for this beast, it;s worth it just for OD 1. Just one thing I wish some of the dirty tones were recored with more mids.
Dunno how,but this sounds a little fatter than the previous standard s-1 model,which indeed was too thin,harsh and sterile for my taste.Now,the problem is the price.This probably will cost a lot more than the s-1,so i guess the people would decide to get an engl instead of this.
@taxo this costs £1,100 but is not pitched against engl! this is a british voiced amp going against the orange rockerverb and so on. the 1046L6 is the metal amp of line, and i think its tone is far superior to any engl
@fraser149 mmmm it depends...i mean,when i hear a metalhead who says "i want a fucking head witch fucking balls",he always thinks of a casual head with just tons of gain and distortion...and this 104el34 sounds to me like a "full of balls amp",so maybe a rival for engl too....about the 6l6 version,i dunno,gonna give him a try before deciding..Engl is a supreme brand in matter of metal tones (though I like invader and savage,the others are a way too sterile for me),dunno how the match would end..
@taxo mostly i dislike Engl because whenever i hear them the have the mids scooped and have i really hollow sound which i hate, but some people may love. depends what type of metal though... i like my metal tone fairly scooped with a heavy low end and and not too much fizzy gain, which is why i prefer the 6L6, although its really a matter of opinion
@fraser149 Sure man,that's the reason why i usually dislike Mesa rectos...i love the fat tone you can get from the right amounth of mids...mids and fatness are some characters that imho are not part of the S-one Blackstar....or at least,for what I've heard,not so much indeed(you know,in shops the playing volume is just ridiculous,and the time you can spend with an amp or a guitar is ridiculous too)
Can anyone tell me the song that the riff from 0:49 to 1:29 is from? Thanks

@taxo the s1-100 only has the 2 lower gain channels. the 104's have another 2 overdrive channels with loads more gain on tap
