I owned this DVD, it really wasn't very helpful...at least for me. I find some of his claims a little odd. For instance at no point did he buzz 3 octaves with no mouthpiece. I have a pretty good range and I can buzz 3 octaves with no mouthpiece. Maybe with... but even with his fluffalling added in he wasn't buzzing across 3 octaves.
Unless something's getting lost in the translation, this guy is really missing the point of a warm-up. I'm not just looking for a nice feeling on my lips; I'm trying to get a lot of things happenening...proper sensation and circulation in the mouth area (this alone can take me 10 to 15 minutes), proper breathing, tone production, intonation, flexibility, etc. This might be what he would call practicing, but I don't
yeah i totally agree :O and another thing with warming up is of course to start up the blood circulation through the lips so you wont start producing lectic acid as easily as when not warmed up. (and i'm not talking about this because im using too much preassure on my lips or anything, its simply a quote from another professional trumpeter.)

I have no idea why you got thumbed down. Your comment is completely correct.

thanks my friend. He probably agrees with me in what needs to be worked on; he just doesn't call it a warm-up.

Seems like if people like something you can't give an honest opinion about it on this site unless it is glowing with praise.
Yeah it sucks right now I'm trying to pick up the trumpet again after a 14 month absense. My tone quality sounds like a cat in a blender.
