This girl is a tempo and a technical genius. She could have played it faster but chose a slower one to bring out the melodic lines instead of going for sheer virtuosity. Her lento is never overly dragging and her presto is always so crisp and clear. She has such a beautiful, cantabile style! My God...
@Eeeehhhsoudesuka ehrm, really? personally i think she wasn t good/mature enough to play this piece at that time....still she was great, but this piece is extremely hard....
@m4n4k1n So what constitutes a mature performance of this piece? Why did this not meet your standards? What was lacking about her performance? Let me know your thoughts.
@Eeeehhhsoudesuka well, excuse me if some terms are going to be wrong but i don' t really know how to talk about music in english :) , so.... i ll' let you know my thoughts....
i feel this performance more like if it was for a recital than a concerto....i think that the beginning part, the arpeggios should be faster to convey emotions, to catch the listener, same for the 3rd movement of moonlight sonata... and even if i think it was a good peformance i still think that it could be waaay better.
As a 61 y/o Texas redneck, I never dreamed my musical interest would be so dramatically impacted by anyone, especially a precious little lady of such a young age. I love this little darling, and eagerly look for her videos, from age 8 to present. I truly believe Rachel has the talent to become one of the world's greatest musicians. I wish her blessing, success, happiness, joy, in her music, life and career. She's adorable, as well as incredibly talented.
Rachel has 54 videos of different classical pieces of music, maybe more ?..,
Go on her channel " yw1935 "
and she has memorized all theses pieces of musique ?... Amazing,
And she is probably as good in her school in many other discipline, at 9 y/o, that's incredible, some kids just have more of their brain cells at work !....
I love to watch you play Rachel , keep doing what you like best for the joy and example to the people of this world!...
I love Mendelssohn's music, they give me a bit of a chill that not every composer can give me [not the same chill as Rachmaninoff ... sorry if I spelled that wrong] and dearie you brought out that chill. I like it. Beautiful!
Hey, don't feel bad. Please remember this child has been gifted --one in a million---most of us have to practive our brains out --as probably did Rubenstein and other concert pianists. Do your best and you are a winner!!!!
LMorgan1234: I remember George Bolet playing this in the '80's. I agree that this girl is supremely blessed. God judges everyone with a different yardstick. Some people have everything including genius, others are born feeding from the scrap heeps of life.
LMorgan: realize that each one of us is unique in some way. This girl is unique in her music. Remember, we all are special not because of what we do, but that we all are made in the image of God. We all will be judged on knowing our purpose for our gifts; on the measure of our talents and investing it in God's Kingdom.
I'm pretty sure she worked as hard as anyone else. Working hard is what every child or person with a passion do whether it is music, videogames, cooking, singing, sport and what not. Mozart hated to be called a genius, because he thought calling someone a genius is like implying he was born gifted and was effortless talented, while talent is just the result of passion, dedication and hard (but fulfilling) work
Another fantastic effort Rachael. So much emotion and so beautifully played. You certainly have a busy production line too and every performance is magnificent. Thank you for inspiring me to try harder.
How old are you ?????
It frightens me

Rachel, this is a very moving interpretation of a rather nelected masterpiece by Mendelssohn.
I confess that I don't quite understand how fast you have become such a great young pianist.
Every one of your videos is a "must see and hear".

Amen Concerto35! I am no piano player, but my gifts lie in helping the elderly and animals. I know God will honor that.
