All this "Dacian pathos" in the story...but where is your Dacian language?...Or perhaps these proud Dacians dumped their own cultural identity, and then thoroughly Romanized themselves...fast track, in only 180 years. Not to mention the free Dacians, who were never conquered by Romans...those in Moldova, Maramures, Bucovina. Romanians are Dacians, like the Eskimos are Africans!

10-15% of our vocabulary IS made of dacian words with latin declinations.

You must understand the dacian romanization was an unprecedented one. The romans were tired of numerous revolts of the local populations they mostly left authonomous (germans, gauls, iberians, britons, etc), so in order to prevent that in Dacia they literally imposed romanization by sword.

As for the free dacians, they didn't last more than 200 years before they were destroyed by migrators.

It is possible that the free dacians expelled the romans out, since there were many attacks on the limes and internal dacian rebellions (mostly brutally surpressed).

But they were later conquered by the many migrators that came.

And romanization and latinization + the migratory invasions were the 2 factors that made the dacian language almost dissapear.

Don't forget that romanization continued even after the Aurelian retrat, since later emerors came back and reconquered some parts of Dacia.

Cat despre migratori, daca vrei exemple de migratori ce au trecut pe aici: huni, ostrogoti, vizigoti, vandali, alani.

Astia sunt doar cei din perioada existentei dacilor liberi.

Dacians traded with Greeks and Romans... If you remember the Romans used to pay tribute to the Dacians. Sure the Romans left traces in Dacia however, it is wrong to assume that they "Romanized" the Dacian population. Especially considering that the majority of the Dacians did not live under Roman control.
