No, A lot of the Dominican mixtures didn't happen out of rape/slavery. Spaniards actually married Taino/Black women and that's why there is no animosity between Dominicans and Spaniards. Slavery was different in the Dominican Republic and slaves didn't get treated like shit. That's why Dominicans that were/are mixed never identified as only black.

the problem is economic. The Haitians quickly exhaust the resources of Dominican Republic by crossing the border and occupying all the space in the hospitals and public assistance centers. There are more Haitians in there than Dominican citizens. So if citizens need help or supplies, there are none left for them. Beyond the discrimination, that is what is frustrating Dominicans. That is what i gather from what i see when i'm there.

Look people. The caribbean is all mixed and diverse. Dominicans are mixed and Haitians are mixed too. There is no such thing as people being just black in the islands. I hate how the guy interviewing the people are trying to make Dominicans look bad. There are good people everywhere. I'm Dominican and I recognize that there are mixed people in HAiti as well. Moreover, plenty of children who where subsequently born from a slave mother were FREED- hence the stratified society of Latin America. Hispanic Countries are not the USA nor are they France. To assume people of color where treated the same way throughout different countries with different patriarchal cultures is extremely disingenuous.

There were thousands-n-thousands of free-Blacks in the US (estimated: about half-million), which their freedom gave them rights to own slaves, vote, and even participate in politics. Estmated, over 3000 free-Blacks held or own slaves. About 20 or more participated in congress, mostly in the House (House of Representatives). Hence, the creation of the "one-drop-rule" in 1910; do-away the privileges given to free-Blacks, since now all are free.

The dominicans have to except the true because a lot of the ones I met in the US would not admit that they have black in them. No, A lot of the Dominican mixtures didn't happen out of rape/slavery. Spaniards actually married Taino/Black women and that's why there is no animosity between Dominicans and Spaniards. Slavery was different in the Dominican Republic and slaves didn't get treated like shit. That's why Dominicans that were/are mixed never identified as only black.

We don't consider are self to be just "Black" because we are not just "Black". People who are only Black we call them "Garifuna", mostly in Belize. And slavery is the same everywhere, meaning: you are property to somebody. Thats how the interbreeding began; DR is no different. Thats how Afri-Americans came to be, Afro-Latinos, etc... all due to "slavery".

Spaniards started farming and raising cattle instead of having sugar cane plantations and guess what? The same slaves farmed and even rode horses with the spaniards, they had houses side by side and inter married. So before you try to teach me some history on my own country, get your facts right

Not to metion the african culture that surives in the domincan culture.

The spanish mixed with africans more in domincan republic than the french did in haiti. The modern day population reflect this. My point is that the domincans who discrimnate haiti for being 'black' or 'negro' are ridiculas beacuse you both share african heritage and culture (even though not every one in dom is dark skinned)

Black people, themselfs, favored light-skined Blacks and having dark-skin was looked upon as ugly or the phrase "Black as Hell". Light-skined Blacks got the better treament, having dark-skin was second-class. And African-Americans are known for ridiculing African-People, calling them "AfricanBootyScratcher" and describing their dark complexion as "Blue".
