I'm thinking on buying this guitar..i still don't know whether the Epiphone Dot or the Sheraton II... I would appreciate if anyone knows if there's much of a difference between them.
I wish epiphone made this particular model in a ES339 version. The appointments on this guitar are really nice. I used have this model, and it really sounds very nice without doing much of anything to it,other than a set-up.
I have one with Gibson 57 pickups in it, and it is amazing! This is one of the few guitars that will expose one's weaknesses with playing! That is why I haven't posted a demo of me playing my Sheraton II (yet!) %p
i love my Sheraton. best 500 bucks ive ever spent on a guitar. its the poor mans 335. here's the secret: swap out the pickups for some Lollar Imperials, put in 500k pots and new electronics, and you've got a killer guitar.
this was enough to MAKE me go go buy one of these beautiful guitars, so thank you Greg ! Mine is the Gibson/Epiphone type & its a dream to play.................
i mean this guy can play.. nice guitar also.. and the boss looper is great i got one too.. and i hot an epi dot.. great for the price just 220€ used..
Hey, dont know if someone already asked, but I wanted to know how you set the eletronics on the guitar(more or less) to obtain this kind of sound. Thank you
I had the same guitar that this gentleman is playing. Unfortunately,I traded for a Fender Am.Spec. Strat, needless to say I was quite disappointed. I mean I know they are different animals, but I thought of the Fender thing. Boy was I mistaking. This guitar sounds wonderful with a little adjusting,I was able to coax many different sounds from it reminiscent of the 335,but at a fraction of the cost. The Seymour Duncan Seth Lover p/u's would be the best alternative to the stock p/u's
By the way, mine is arctic white and I also fitted her with a nice golden Bigsby. Now she could even attempt to rival a White Falcon ...oh, who am I kidding
@zoumero1 Get the Sheraton no doubt about it. It's the last I got and my 7th guitar, it becomes a damn obsession and you never stop getting more when you get a chance lol
@zoumero1 I"ve looked at both in the shops. The Sheraton is definitely the nicer guitar, but the differences are primarily cosmetic. The pickups, body-shape, and construction are identical on both. Neck profile on both is like a thickish '59. Fit and finish on the Sheraton is much nicer. F-holes on 335 Dot are ragged, on the Sheraton they are nicely bound. The one drawback is that all the neck binding makes the Sheraton a little more neck-heavy than the Dot. Sheraton is $100+ more
@danakerman Thanks for all the information man. :) i have read most of them online but after I tried both of them a couple of days ago, i came to the conclusion that Sheraton has a better tone in my opinion. it is what i was looking for.
I did this and swapped out all the electronics and put Gibson P94's in there too. Really beats any guitar out there for the price. Rivals that of a Gibson 335 too
@tatoavilez Hope it's okay i answer this one :) MY guess is that it's just a regular gibson pick-guard he fitted instead of the original one. I've got one myself and the the original pick-guard is probably the biggest turn-off on this guitar, so that might be the reason he changed it.
I swear, this guy's tone has got to be my favorite of all time. How does he even do it? There's so much personality. It's so fluid. You can tell its coming from his fingers and not his equipment, though his equipment does play a role.
@ARVNpistola313 I hope you don't think I was trying to be a smart-ass. I really wasn't. I was one of those who swore, "hey man - tone is in your fingers." To my surprise I found that really wasn't true. You had it right on the money when you said, "There's so much personality." That's from inside too.
Hahas no. I was just reinterpreting what you said and you are right. A lot of people play guitar with their hands rather than with their brains. They hands remember a bunch of licks through muscle memory but when it comes time to improvise licks, brainpower is required.
If anyone considers buying this or has bought it and is considering better pickups buy a pair of Gibson p94's. They really do this guitar so much justice. I bought new electronics, pots and gave it a whole new revamp. It sounds phenomenal through my Vox Amp
@Anitrop The Sheraton had a Frequensator tailpiece, and the Sheraton II has a Tune-O-Matic/Stopbar combination. That's the only real, distinguishable difference.

Awsome guitar just one question, Does it stay in tune well? And what about intonation? I got the epiphone Tony Iommi SG and the tuning goes out relatively quick, The intonation isnt bad but not perfect..

On a scale of 1-10,I'd give it a 8.5
I'm sorely tempted to buy one of those things. Was thinking of an ES335 but don't want to go in to my bank manager on my hands and knees. It seems like a reasonable substitute for about a quarter of the money.
