If you want to eat strawberrys to your hearts content, then come to Finland in summer and pick a bucket full and after that you won't touch another strawberry in months, seriously :D But yeah, strawberrys are yummy :;D
WHOA sparkling strawberry KITKATS that sounds amazing. I like strawberrys. I'm definitely going to have to ride my bike alot in Japan if i don't want to get super fat
I don't think americans have stuff like that XD most of the time when I go to my favorite Japanese store in Texas, I start going crazy over the package, if it looks "kawaii" then it must taste good ... right?
I always loved Japanese snacks as a kid especially their gum. They always had flavors not here in the states plus they came in some really cool containers or packaging. I will probably buy a month's worth of snacks when I go there. My local store has alot of stuff but not everything....Yes, I only have two teeth left. One is for chewing, the other to open canned goods.
I love how you switch back and forth between Japanese and REALLY good English. I keep expecting only Japanese to come out of your mouth so every time you transition from Japanese back to English, I'm impressed! On another note I attend school with many Japanese international studies students and the one quality I truly love about them is their manners. They are extremely friendly and very, very respectful. I feel privileged to know them and to call them my friends.
This remind me of a question I asked my friend. Back in the days we use to watch Asian drama together and you could see guys eating strawberry often and I ask her if there was a meaning to it and she said when they are eating strawberry it was to show that deep down inside of them, they are good guys (they're sweet) and appearance aren't always right. I'm wondering if it is why they are so popular among girl ? ( lol, don't think but it would be funny)
personally, I don't like strawberries at all. I don't like the taste of the texture-not even strawberry soda. ichigo wa daikirai desu... is that right?
About 5-10 years ago it seemed like Mango and Kiwi were fashionable among American fruit lovers. It seamed like all the drink and candy manufacturers were making Mango and Strawberry Kiwi flavored drinks and chewable candies. I absolutely love mango However, they are complicated and messy when you prepare them to eat so i don't get them as often as i should.
This is so interesting! Yet another thing I love about the Japanese. I love strawberries and strawberry-flavored things too.
Oh and just to share, Spaniards LOVE orange fanta like Americans love Coca Cola. I've never seen so many people collectively love orange soda like they do.
Anyway in the UK, we also love strawberries. Maybe it is a national fruit. I often take my daughter strawberry picking. But we have strawberry flavoured ice cream, chewy sweets, milkshakes and milk, Strawberry jam, hard boiled sweets, yogurts, breakfast cereals with strawberries, etc. In the UK strawberries can also be a symbol of love and / or lust, being that they are red and heart shaped.
My daughter loves Strawberry flavoured chocolate. I had to buy a load of the stuff from my last visit to Japan. But I did not see any strawberry Kit-Kats, Kinoko no Yama or Takenoko no Sato.
And yes, I noticed all the packaging was very Kawaii and seems aimed and girls.
Hi, thanks for your vídeos, i really enjoy them, this gives me an idea of what is life in Japan. By the way in América remember that they aré obsessed with peanut butter! :-D
So, Hiroko-sama, I'd like to know if you've finished eating all those strawberry sweets now?? Even at one packet a month, they must have all been gobbled by now^_^!
One of the consumer groups here in Oz regularly makes us strawberry-lovers think twice by saying they are the most chemically-drenched fruit sold. I might try growing some in my garden... the garden supplier actually recommends two types bred in Japan as the tastiest!!
OMG you look almost exactly the same as my spiritual sister Yumika Sato =OOOO. Have you heard of the Unification Church in Japan. We get alot of Japanese missionary sisters that come to hawaii from that church. and i cant believe you look so much like her. WOW!
i noticed in the usa that everything is available in grape flavour... and not a true-to-life grape flavour but a super sour, super sweet grape flavour.. also cherry too :/.. there's not a lot of grape/cherry flavoured stuff over here in the uk
What webcam are you using? I'm curious, since it seems to have a really good auto-focus that can handle close-ups without any problem, and the overall image quality seems to be really great in 720p.
Obsession? It's more like a standard "3rd Option" in terms of "Flavors". I.E. Vanilla is often #1 and Chocolate is #2 and thus Strawberry is often # 3. This goes for Milkshakes at many major FastFood resteraunts (Burger King, McD's Checkers).
Breakfast cereals often use de-hydrated strawberries as a added flavor. Strawberry frosted: Cheerios, Mini-Wheats. The most notorious "Ichigo Cereal" - is "FrankenBerry" (just google the name)
lol this makes total sense, (japanese candy is awesome btw :D) but i do love strawberry pocky, im addicted to it lol they're on my list of favs next to wasabi peas XD and this japanese gum
you should do a video about the different flavors of kit kats in japan. i heard that there are soy sauce flavored ones, and even potato flavored kit kats!
Nice to meet you! This is the first video of yours I have seen. I admire your using both English and Japanese in the vid! I'll be watching more! Thank you. Arigato!
I think it's more about ease of growing strawberries in areas not ideal for other crops, like hill sides and the like. Whereas other fruits grow on trees that take up a lot of space and require better conditions. Of course Lotte is a Korean firm, so I guess they grow them there too. By the way, there are Lotte stores in the U.S. There's one outside DC and one here in Baltimore.
i love strawberries too. strawberries go well with just about anything. i buy the same fresh strawberry package at my local grocery store in tokyo :D you didn't show strawberry ハイチュ :(
Thank you very much! Very informative. Bingo! - 苺が一番好きですが、but I mean the wild one, the one that grows in the pine woods of Ural (Ekaterinburg), for example. The short season begins in the teens of July, together with mosquito season, 残念ながら。One could spend a few hours in the woods to collect just a handful of berries. From my childhood, I don't remember any better taste. But I am not a big fan of the farmed strawberries.
Hi! Well there are a lot of strawberry stuff here in the states too. Fresh strawberries of course, strawberry poptarts, strawberry cheese cake, strawberry frosting(really good!), gum(I'm just gonna stop saying strawberry now XD), star burst, shortcake, ice cream, sauce, jelly(More expensive than grape jelly T_T), dumplings, yogurt, fruit roll ups, fruits snacks. and a lot more. I'm sure there are more in Japan too. Cooking with fruit is fun. I love apples. Fresh though not juice or anything.
The Best strawbery's in the world they in Poland ..I welcome YOU in month of June ... Trust me U going to love them :) You can pickup them from the farmer land .
I have seen コアロ の マーチ in my local Tesco supermarket! I prefer the milk chocolate one to the strawberry, but the pink packaging is cute, so I buy both.
ahhh...watching you take those out of the bag makes me want some!! hehe...how much did it all cost you to buy the candy?? if you converted to american dollars?
I noticed that in Japan, it's NOT the content they sell you, rather the packaging and how it is presented. it is partially a brain washing technique to make you buy their products by stimulating your visual senses. So, you will have a bunch of products from diverse companies, same content, same taste, but the packaging will play the major role into whether you will buy it or not. sometimes over 50% of a certain product's production costs are invested in the packaging and its design.
You say they only sell these candies during this time of year? Perhaps because the strawberry looks like a heart. Also pink and red are the color of Valentines. BTW congratulations on all of your success. I remember your earlier videos were getting only about 30 views. Now you are getting over 3000. I will always be your biggest fan.
Japanese candies are the best, but we have something that no other country has!
Cookie dough bites.
Yes, in five different flavores: traditional, fudge brownie, mint, and peanut butter. I bet they will have strawberry soon!
In my home country, France, they have different soda. When I moved her five years ago (I am thirteen) I was so surprised to have soda come in bottle's not just syrup in water! Very, very cool.
well walking down a candy isle in the states there is a lot of different candy, but theyre all diverse nothing really like you described. I would like to note, Lifesavers most popular seller are there all cherry lifesaver packages. I love fruity candy the most and like to have different flavors. If I had to choose one though it would have to be strawberry.
It's true, they are obsessed with strawberries...there's a particular place in Japan, in the rural/country area of Shizuoka off the Izu peninsula, where my friend's parents retired to (on top of a huuuuge, windy mountain might I add!), with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji, that is basically known as Ichigo Town haha. I think it's called "Emerald Town", but, really, they are famous for their strawberries.
Ohhh... this video must have been so hard to do... going all the way to the combini, buying all these not yummy stuff and all the eating thing... sooo hard! hahah ^_^
Yes, just another reason for them to use the color pink. Japanese are very much into the cutsie things. Kawaii all the way. Strawberries themselves are small and cute. I wish I knew more about why the Japanese really do love strawberries so much. Here in the states, we love chocolate. Hell, we just love any sweet thing.
I don't think I've ever really seen strawberries packaged like that... Normally where I live we either get them from a farmstand or grow them ourselves.
White strawberry? That looks to me like a strawberry that hasn't matured yet...
But those cakes and tarts with the strawberries, Just looking at them makes me hungry!
I'll have to try the strawberry Kit Kat sometime. I've imported green tea and sakura flavors before, and a friend sent me some ginger ale Kit Kat during the holiday season, and i love them.
I also like when i see the cakes with strawberries on them that seem popular in Japan. You don't really see those in America, but maybe i will make one sometime. (Actually, ihappen to have a box of strawberry cake mix in my cabinet. Maybe i'll put real strawberries on top if i make it.)
Strawberries are loved everywhere but how come ya get strawberry Kit kat >:-( screw you Nestle, I WANT THEMMMMMMM!!!! Ichigo Save me !! and How did you find those perfect strawberries??? I never find them so perfect :-/
For some reason it's hard for me to appreciate strawberry flavored stuff. I mean I absolutely love strawberries themselves, I used to eat a whole pack of them by myself at the age of 2 (or at least that what my parents tell me) - but strawberry flavored stuff doesn't work out for me. Kinda weird =/
I had a strawberry flavor milk shake at Denny's last Saturday. It was all I needed!
Strawberry is great because it's sweet and fresh, yet doesn't leave a funny feeling or taste in your mouth like bananas or kiwifruits.
I don't really think the U.S. has any obsession with any particular fruits, but strawberry and orange tend to be popular flavors in candies, desserts, and other sweet foods.
I believe タルト is Tart in English. After watching this video, it made me want to run down to the convenient store. I have a Lawson, 7 Eleven, and a Daily Yamazaki right around my corner ... Damn ichigo to hell. I have like 3 almost ripe packages I picked up from Seiyu last night LoL!
Anyways, I was just wondering is there any other fruit that has a period where it's in lots of products?
What does しゅわしゅわ mean? I can't find it in any dictionary :( I'm guessing it might mean sparkling as in "this will give you a sparkingly fun feeling" lol or something :P
It would seem like anywere things are seasonal... Easter is coming up so the chocolate bunnys will be coming out. Valentines has the chocolates in a heart shaped box. Halloween has candycorn which you never see any other time. But strawberrys are kinda associated with opulance. Like only the rich eat strawberrys with whipcream and or dipped in chocolate while drinking fine bubbly... That kinda of thing...
I love strawsberries too! well, if i tell you, in Belgium, the obsession si chocolates, do you believe me? :) you can find chocolates in any stuff... I just like them in a simple way like sweets.
I, too, have noticed Japan's obsession with strawberry EVERYTHING --- Not just candies and snacks, clothing and accessories, too! I occassionally buy clothing from Japanese fashion sites, and I sometimes get a free gift along with my purchase ... And 90% of the time it's strawberry related! O_O
Canada's obsessed with maple syrup like Japan is obsessed with strawberries. We have maple fudge, maple lollipops, maple chewy candies, maple ham, maple cookies ... Even our flag's a maple leaf! xD
yeah not to mention 久保 帯人 must have loved strawberry enough to name the main character from one of his manga after it. (黒崎 一護) hahahaha イチゴ!!!!! (I am saddened we don't have strawberry kit kat's in the USA all we have is normal and peanut butter). if you don't know the manga I speak of I speak of Bleach (ブリーチ), hahah who would name their kid strawberry? at that... a boy. I love candy, fruity candy is the best. I'm jealous of your strawberry candy :(
Yes, i have myself in my country, so i think i make up for the obsession of an entire country with strawberries, because i am more obsessed than any Japanese person alive!
Do you know i actually shed a couple of tears when i saw all those strawberry flavored candy? (LIKE REAL TEARS)
What do you mean "i don't know how much will it take me to consume these" ... i'd eat all of them right away!
And it's not the kawaii thing, because I'm a boy!
Yeah, I don't think we have such a large selection of strawberry stuff in the US. I wish we did - I love strawberry! The KitKat looks pretty tasty. :)
U are fabulous ;-)) Keep it up!

Orchid899 1 year ago

Funny thing is, AFAIK, white strawberries are actually not ripe. :-)

At least...whenever I've imagined a phantasmal strawberry, I always assumed it would be white. :-)

BTW, what is that weird sound at 1:45?

BTW, cool nails

Ichigo means strawberry. That's funny because most Americans think of the anime character from Bleach named Ichigo.

Even our flag's a maple leaf! xD

ooh, maple candies? I'm so curious! we don't have stuff like that in the US. D:

yeah not to mention 久保 帯人 must have loved strawberry enough to name the main character from one of his manga after it.

Those Koala ones that you showed just before the KitKat ... we have those exact ones over here in Australia.
You can find them quite easily in the Asian Groceries section of your local supermarket. ^_^

And it's not the kawaii thing, because I'm a boy!
sauron1grenoble 1 year ago
Yeah, I don't think we have such a large selection of strawberry stuff in the US. I wish we did - I love strawberry! The KitKat looks pretty tasty. :)
