  • Maangchi, you are one of the cutest cooks I've ever seen! Keep on cooking!

  • You look like one of the best cooks I've seen on Youtube. You could be on Food Network I think

  • If I wanted to bring this to a party would I be able to rehat some way that wouldn't comprimise it?

  • Coooooool I love avocados!! yummyummyummm I'm going to try this!!

  • omg i love avocado and soy sauce ... i never thought to fry them ... yummy

  • @xxKitsumoxx It's even better if you add a tiny bit of wasabi to the soy sauce to give it a little kick.

  • I always eat avocado with sugar, but I'm going to try eating it with soy sauce tomorrow. Thank you for your wonderful recipes :D

  • I read somewhere that avocado goes bitter when it's cooked? Is that true?

  • @bebeXgemini Haven't noticed that. Unripe avocados are sometimes cooked so they are more palatable.

  • you are so awesome and very beautiful too!!

  • This looks delicious and easy to make! I'm going to try this!

Question: Which brand of soy sauce is the best one? Which one do you buy?

    Thanks! I love your videos~

  • holy crap that is awesome!

  • I like it when you talk more!

  • Very nice and delicious looking! ^_^ I just graduated culinary school last friday!

  • Congratulation! Now you are ready to cook! : )

  • Hi, Maangchi

What else do Korean saute with this batter? What's your suggestion? Is this dish the type Korean cook as sacrificial offerings on certain traditional rites? I seem to have seen it from Korean series, quite popular in Taiwan. ^_^Thank you.

  • whoa im totally going to look for gingko nuts now haha im so hungry

    you are soo cool xDD

  • is it any good without the flour? can you use just egg with avacado?

  • I think you could do, why not!

  • i thought the avacado might be nasty but i tried it and it was acutally pretty good

  • oh yeah? I'm glad to hear that.

  • yum

  • you are so cute!

  • After watching this video, I made tempura with avocado. It was really good!

  • wow, another tip! Thank you!

  • What do Avocado's and Ginkgo nuts taste like? having that I have never tasted them before.

  • perfecto invention!

  • yummy! i definitelly will try to make this :]

p.s. i like to do that too! (put soy sauce in the pit) xP

  • The way Im eatin avas Im nily vegan alredy. I eat'em hole... er... not the seed...pass on that.

Anyway, u eat 2 whole avos every day without killin yrself. Its beta 4 yr teeth & blood sugar levls than other froot (sic) & the oil isnt exesive & is very helthy. I eat a small hole in a sandwich. A large hole in two sandwitches. A avaberger!

If they r perfect (not even slightly over ripe) & chilled, an avo eaten like that is easy to akwire (sic) taste, & if u do, you eat one or two every day.

  • Wow, how incredibly unique. You are amazing.

    rb

  • Hi maangchi unnee! I tired this today and me and my husband where like "woah this is soo nice but filling!" I just changed mine a little bit because I didnt have soybean paste.I put one small spoon of veggie powder and salt and black pepper :D so nice yummmm.... I was wondering if you could make a VEGTARIAN KIMCHI-GI- GUE for me??? Oh please please! XD

  • Thank you for your update. You will have to make kimchi without using fish sauce first to make kimchi stew for vegetarian. Use mushrooms instead of meat

  • Maanchi, you like Ramones?

  • Yes, I do! : )

  • you moved to ny! thats great! you should come visit flushing in queens! everythings korean here. alot of korean restaurants and markets!

  • I always eat my avacado with soy sauce!! Everyone thinks im gross but its soo addicting. I sometimes sprinkle cayenne pepper and black pepper for more spice :D

  • yeh, it tastes good with cayenne pepper dont really like black pepper, because it has a bitter taste

  • I love you Maangchi!!! Thank you for this awesome recipe :D

  • What a creative combination! I will have to pay a visit to Chinatown.

  • i cant wait to make this!

  • wow, you are creative. I love Avacado, but i heard it's very fatty, so i dont eat them much. I would love to try other things.

  • Avacados are a good fat, like nuts. Just don't eat a lot, but once a week or every other week wont make you fat. The fat you have to stay away from is in cookies, cakes-sugary items like that. So try this recipe! LOL!!

  • laramis is right. avocados contatin monounsaturated fats and tons of great nutrients. i think they have omega-3/6 fatty acids as well. anyways, they're nothing but goodness for you!

  • noo you can eat avocado's without fear of weight gain. They have VERY good fats and contain nutrients which fight off cancer, and they have the most fiber of any fruit. You can easily eat an avocado every day and not worry about gaining weight. and as laramis said, the fats you need to be avoiding are in baked and packaged goods, and fatty meats.. not avocado's lol.

  • it looks DELICIOUS!!! I feel that you shoud have your own korean resturant.

  • hello maangchi! cracking the shells of gingko is tedious. anyway, there is something in the ginko nut which is bitter tasting. did you remove it? my mother usually removed them with a toothpick by poking and pushing it out before cooking it in the chinese dessert soup :D

  • im just cirious how do you know all this? and buy a new camera :P

  • watch it in HD, it's less pixelated

  • looks tasty!

  • That looked so good Maangchi! Great video!

  • omg im so happy... i saw ur metal chopsticks and wanted some so bad.. i went to Los Angels and got some for a good price.. hehe

  • You look adorable Maangchi in your avocado outfit! My mom loves avocados too. Once her coworkers made her an avocado bday cake.

I like how you prepared the gingko nuts. They looked glistening, like jewelry to eat! My guests would not even have to shell the nuts & destroy their manicure.

I once went to a Japanese homestyle restaurant here in L.A. on Hillhurst Ave. The unshelled gingko nuts were presented in sea salt. Had to search for the buried treasured nuts!

  • you are right. They look like jewels! You saw the bag of shelled ginkgo nuts in the video? I paid only $5.00 in Chinatown.

  • what is ginko nuts?? english term???

  • I'll try this soon :)

  • Ginkgo nuts are very delicious! They have like a soft gelatinous like texture. It is slightly bitter but not too bitter.

  • :D Mouth watering goodness again!!!

  • Maangchi is the best...I love Avocados and this sounds so yummy!

  • we love you, Maangchi!

  • Yummy as usual! Love the Avocado outfit!

  • Amazing, Maangchi. As usually ;-)

  • I will try this :-)

I want to learn to make Pat Bin su!

  • I think Pat Bin Su is pretty much shaved ice with sweet beans and fruits and this rice cake thingy.

  • That looks great! Wish avocado wasn't so expensive here. Will have to try it when I am home in May.

  • I used to eat the avocado with sugar instead of soy sauce the way you did.. Lol

  • Maangchi you are so creative..You look like a french lady with that hat on your head =]

  • That looked tasty and easy. I'm so glad I found you.:)

  • i love you maangchi... always giving me ideas for surprising my friends... have a beautifull 2009 :)

  • the ginkgo skewers look like the dumpling skewers from Naruto :)

  • I have GOT to try that, I LOVE avocado pear, my uncle has a tree, and every pear season all i'm thinking about are those pears. I just love em with salt and pepper on em :D. But I've never thought of frying them, I didnt even know you could fry avocado :o, so shocking, but it looks soo interesting. :)

Btw, your dish looked great, lovely presentation.

Also, what do ginkgo nuts taste like? I've never even heard of them. :s

  • for dessert, try avocado with condensed milk in the hole where the pit used to be. YUM

  • oh, yeah? That's a very good tip. I have some leftover condensed milk from my cheesecake making. I should try it out. Thanks

  • looks tasty

  • i love the ramones at the start and your videos are ace

Could you please recommend a vegetarian alternative to the egg? I'm vegetarian and this looks far too good- I wanna try this out tonight :)

Love how you just pour some soysauce into the cavity.. that's really cute :)

  • oh, I thought about it, too. Just skip the egg. Dip the avocado pieces into the batter and cook it on the pan. Check my written recipe on my website.

  • Will do.

  • omg i lovee advocado <3

  • just wondering, who films these videos for you?

  • Thank you! It is so simple and easy to make!

I like avocado, can't wait to try this recipe.

By the way, i'm taking your word for making Shikhye! I haven't forgotten haha, but i'll wait with patience :)

  • i love the HD quality! nice.. also great recipes! ill try them one day!

  • Nice recipe, I may try it out one day.

  • wow...i might just try that someday, but gingko....i bet i wont find it here in Ottawa, and avacado n soysauce ???? wow!

  • if you think about it, there are avocado in sushi and you eat that with soy sauce! =D

  • @joyjoyooO: You can find them there, and for free sometimes. There are lots of ginko trees, and when they drop their nuts, you can find them by the smell!! They stink. But, if you're brave, you can take them home and dry them, the aroma mostly goes away. Google how to fix them, you'll find it's not too hard. Or, you can probably find an auntie in Chinatown to show you. She might even show you where to find some.

  • my goodness....another wonderful dish!!! thanks maangchi!

  • it looks delicious

  • Great recipe :). How do you whack the knife into the avocado seed? Last time I tried to do it I almost chopped my hand off LOL.

  • Yummy, that looks so good. I love avacados. I must be doing my cooking good because we have the same measuring cups and spatula. xD

  • I love avacado !! This recipe is awesome !! I dont know what ginko nuts taste like ! I will try them if Korean store has them ! I hope so !! Great Video !!

  • I like eating avacado with sugar or condense milk..but soy sauce?

I heard if you eat a lot of Ginko nuts, it's bad for you =x

  • is that how you make tempura batter?

  • no, it's different. I posted how to make batter

"Beat 1 egg white until it foams and add ½ cup of starch powder, ½ cup of flour, 1 ts of salt, and ½ cup of cold water and mix it to make batter"

  • that looks soooo goood! i'll make it tomorrow and i'll tell you how it went1 thanks again maangchi! you're my new mother for korean cookin

  • oooo that looks yummy!!!!

    Ur a great cook =)

  • first! I wanna be sedated! yum!
