  • i fuckin lost it at the scream singing

  • KPFA

  • This guy is too funny. But I actually like the stuff they play on NPR =]

  • XD AHAHAHAHA this is totally true. Ohh hahaha it huuurts.

This is why I just skip it and go to their website. You still get some small clips, but it's not near as bad.

  • "This afternoon on 'Mediocrity Now', we speak to Lithuanian cape manufacturers who defected and after that we interview a New Jersey man that is keeping alive the tradition of custom made vacuum tube powered telephones. Only on NPR." Naturally.

  • I think NPR finally heard this bit. LOL Has anyone noticed that NPR is now playing current music (rock and hip hop) between segments? They started it recently... like a month or two ago.

  • @angelbeta Wouldn't surprise me, they are more on the ball then people give them credit for.

  • Also, you shouldn't use music that rebels against the establishment. if you are the establishment.

  • @Mxlsptlk Case in point, Reagan using "Born in the USA" as his campaign slogan.

  • NPR had a thing about domesticating foxes awhile ago. I'm sure 5 other people and me found it interesting.

  • @Mxlsptlk the other 2 must not know about the youtubes yet.

  • ya, it's somewhat true, but NPR is still in a class by itself, it rules. gotta' take the good with the bad...

  • pantick pan tickpa ticka ticka pan pan

  • does anyone think his instrument imitations sound like jack blacks?

  • fuck NPR

  • what's really sad is that the music he mentioned that npr plays is actually the good music.

  • Pahn! Pahn! Pahn! KakkiPankiPahn! Pahn! Pahn! KakkiPankiPah Pahn! PAHNNN! :D :D :D

  • @richmonksgtr

    That wasn't even close.

  • Funny bit. To answer his question, though, Republicans and right-of-centers have more, and far less repressed/unembarrassed fun (trust me, I’ve swam in both sides’ waters). Sammy Hagar and Ted Nugent are our rotating headliners and Dennis Miller’s the Masters of Ceremony, too.

P.S. No matter how the left wants to paint him, just because he’s on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly is not a Republican.

  • @MitsahE1970

    SQUIDDLY BLADDLY BLOO

  • Haha I haven't laughed so hard in my life. The thing at the end about the two burkley trust fund students reviving the ol scream song had me waking up my neighbors. Now I remember why patton oswalt is my favorite comedian.

  • I love NPR, but ... he's right.

  • NPR called me one time (not Ira GLass himself) to ask why I never donated (my GF wrote them about me) I just told them "Well, as long as you play a guy playing Frank Sinatra through a conch shell, I don't feel the need to pay for that" Needless to say, the did not air our conversation

  • I can't get enough of that sad lonely saxophone.

  • @texjoy86 What's even worse is the saxophone quartets. Saxophone quartets weren't even WRITTEN to be listened to. They're meant to be played at music educators' conferences. They don't even make good bumper music.

  • I respect NPR...but that is soo true!

  • N.P.R. has it's heart in the right place, but holy hell does it suck.

  • With NPR you gotta pick and choose your shows or else you do end up with those odd unlistenable segments but there good shows...best thing out there.

  • @Hopeful71

this guys completely right, I have heard some REALLY cool shit on NPR before, like some of my favorite bands and stuff. but half the time you're listening to ridic shit, patton nails it honestly.

  • This American Life pretty much lives up to what he's saying =D

  • next on bill o'riley, why black people smell different. maaaaa naaaaa squwiban naaaaaa

  • I love the sound he makes for the tumlucu (or however you spell that made up instrument).

    "Wa-ple-ple-pleni-plenti-plen-plen!"

    It's oddly addictive.

  • Irony: all the bands that conservatives play as bumper music are liberal. E. g: Rush Limbaugh playing The Pretender's "My City Is Gone."

  • Patton speaks the truth once again.

  • I listen to WXPN (all music) every day, but you could perform surgery on someone listening to NPR's All Things Considered...

  • We Conservative Radio listeners just know what music is good. Still Love Patton, though!

  • AHHH AHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • I usually agree with Patton Oswald but this time I don't

  • @Anontalkwarrior Are you a fan of scream singing?

  • Ahh, Auhh, AHHHH.

  • HAHAHAHA

  • On Sundays they used to have Harry Shearer.

  • Here's a better fucking idea: GIVE PATTON OSWALT A SHOW on NPR!!! Problem solved.

  • Our car radio antenna broke one time and the only station that came in was NPR. Needless to say, it was hell.

  • one of my favorite oswalt bits

  • this needs more views

  • WORD!

  • Scream singing?! Classic.

  • This bit used to make me guffaw until I was breathless. AWESOME.

  • I like NPR, but can't listen to it while driving because I'll fucking fall asleep.

  • @oontgrad especialy the phrase: from the NPR news room in Washington im.......

  • I listen to NPR every day, and this is SO fucking true.

  • Killer bit.

  • lol Two Berkley trust fund students

  • OMG, so true, Patton!

    Thanks for posting! xD
