  • yeah i have a 5970 and i cant run it because ati doesn't have phsyx :(

  • @Natebeats Get nVidia then

  • is it me or does this game advertise physx for gpu yet it only uses cpu

well according to the physx indicator i got 4653xsli tryed all combos, and gpu dedicated dont work at all

  • i. lol 3:56 one minute of video left, I WILL STAB YOU

  • @Kevincat2 sorry its at 3:54

  • @ 3:53 someone says in the background right after the guy says 1 minute of video left, a random guy says "Dammit i will STAB you" pretty loud.

  • @weinerschnitzelboy What the hell with "I will stab you guy"? Maybe its an Nvidia executive.

  • @weinerschnitzelboy

    lol i heard that too

  • @weinerschnitzelboy gentleman?!

  • @1FAQ1 Mentlegen! *duun dundun duuuunn*

    Meet the SuperSonic Spy :O

  • How to get this "game"?

  • @totte1015 nVidia's website...

  • @EliaForce1984ita where on their website?

    Is it free?

  • @totte1015 But of course, check out their "Cool stuff" section under "Demo" subsection!

  • I love the insane aceleration of the car

  • @SanxxLuca ATI sucks...

  • fanboy u suck , try before talking!

  • @jorgecosta95 I have an ATI 4850 and I've seen many videos for ATI video cards! That's what I concluded... ATI sucks! But I like AMD... And I'm not a fan of any company! Intel sucks too... The only good CPUs' it has are Core i5 750 and all the Core i7... The other suck and they 're expensive!

  • ok sorry , but dont u like of ur ati? i love my 4870 1gb , its awesome , everything at maximum!

  • @jorgecosta95 I can play everything at maximum, but the most fps I get are 60... I think the GTS 250 is better... If not, then I don't think ATI sucks!

  • the carts still moves when the rocks goes random thats scripted and crap

  • oh wow thats cool benchmark program, can u downlaod this Supersonic Sledge tetser anywhere?

  • the demo will be released after the launch of the graphic cards.:)

  • the only reason why i want GF100 Fermi to come out is so i can buy a ati 5870 for a lower price.

  • thats so smart :3

  • youtube sucks with uploading vids now these days. I have it at 360p setting and I still have to pause the vid to let it catch up for me to watch it. Sigh =(

  • eh i have it on 720p and its fully uploaded in like 30 secs. so i guess its your pc

  • That's because of your internet connection.

  • poor guy ^.^

  • Looking great, but I guess the environment is 100% optimized for nVidia, while normal games aren't.

  • 4:10 LOL!!!!

    Very nice video and techdemo.

But I think it's AMD time for me again.

imo Nvidia has made themselves a bad image. (PhysX, Nv exclusively working games at release...)

  • Nvidia will miss the connection when they further cook their own soup. Ati stands already behind the finish line and Nvidia still plays with PhysiX.

  • will it also work with dx10?

  • DX11 is backwords compatible with DX10, and every graphics card ships with DX9 support. So it supports everything.

  • no, that's not what I'm talking about. i know that every dx11 card will run dx10 games, I wanna know whether my dx10 card can run this dx11 demo --> is the SOFTWARE backwards compatible?

  • @multimolti no it's not.

  • no its not

  • damn, that sucks. would really like to "play" it, but wont replace my GTX 260 just for this tool... and there arent many dx11 games yet, so its not worth it

  • think you forgot about Aliens versus Preditor, Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2...

  • i'm not going to play one of them. ME2 perhaps, but probably not. crysis 2 and new frostbite engine 2 games will be worth it, so i wait until i upgrade

  • so this can run dx1 games flawlessly? that is, assuming windows 7 can run them?

  • dx1? are you talking about dx10 or 11?

  • no, directx 1.0, as in, windows 95 era. i know it can handle dx9, 10, 11, etc. w/o a problem.

  • No, its the Techdemo called Supersonic Sled.

  • can we download this demo anywhere?

  • is that a game ???

  • 3:51 does he say "i will stab you"??

  • The demo shows that Nvidia's Physx is a very useful tool. Some tessellation and thats it!

It really does not showcase how powerful the card is. IMO, if that demo uses directcompute, it will not only work on any ATI5xxx card but it will run it smoothly as well.

So far, no one is showing Fermi flexing its muscle. Not very interesting if you ask me.

  • Hallo Leute habt Ihr vielleicht lust beim Online Game Magdeburg-City teilzunehmen? Schaut doch mal rein!!

  • What the hell were they thinking when they made this tech demo?

"Oh man we're gonna impress the hell out of gamers and get them excited about GF100" ?

If that's the case than they failed. After watching this it makes me not want a GF100. The PhysX look horrible..

They would have been better off showing the performance in Crysis @ 2560x1600 with full settings.

  • Agreed, this is the whole point. They pimp their IP which should be obsolete when DX11 matures.

Don't support closed platforms people, support open ones that are more versatile and easier to develop for! It means more competition where it matters and better products for us!

  • @TehNubinz You obviously haven't seen this in person lol.

  • looks stunnign really the smoke and everything i think it was wourth for me waiting since october SOON

  • The demo is amazing. Can't wait to see its official release.

  • Still PhysX, oh come on, support standards. But the demo looks like fun for a couple of minutes.

  • looks shit

  • is there a demo ?

  • There is a video of FERMI running the Unigine Heaven benchmark and it's not any faster than a 5870.

The smoke effects in this are terrible, the ragdoll is plain horrific, even HL2 is better in this respect. The flame effects look as though they've been lifted from Gary's Mod.

  • lol this doesnt look like the unigine heavens benchmark to me. Are u blind?

  • I said "there is a video"... Learn to read you idiot.

  • @Bobisuruncle54 Nothing you said has ANY truth or validity to it. We don't know how much faster (or if it is faster) than the 5870 running the Unigine Benchmark, there is no FPS counter in any video.

The smoke effects are not terrible, they are realistic, as is the fire. And it's clearly a goofy demo, not a full on serious FPS, you really expect a perfect ragdoll? Not to mention that the quality of the graphics have no bearing on the card and it's performance. Lose the fanboy rage and go FERMI.

  • Neither does anything what you just said. Somehow I'm the fanboy and you're the one telling me to go FERMI? Amazing, I can see you're objective opinion shining through there.

Fact is on the Uingine vids you can tell the FERMI system starts to chug where a 5870 system does. This is painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Obviously you lap up Nvidia's marketing hook, line and sinker. Some of us can make up our own damn minds without having to listen to a Nvidia rep.

  • fuck, ever think that maybe the current driver version isn't working properly when they are showing the benchmark?

I have a friend that has an IDENTICAL system, because I built him the same one I had, and everything was the same, level of defragmentation (0%) and registry errors and whatnot were null.

and he got crappier frame rate using newer drivers, like 20 fps less.

so it's not always the Hardware.

Also Youtube isn't the best video playback program/site.

  • You're right drivers do play a part in how well a set up runs, but Nvidia would no way in hell run a demo on broken drivers.

I agree, average users may run into errors and problems down the line, but this is a tech demo; a best case scenario with a system built by the company itself to show its performance in the best light possible.

  • to me the slow downs look more like a main memory problem, I mean this GPU is not like a crappy $50 GPU, we should at least give it some credit, and the benefit of the doubt.

there's no point in releasing GPU that is considerably (or even a little) worse than your competitors last GPU, that's just not how it works, and wouldn't make sense, due to the fact that they do tests prior to release.

ATI creates a faster card, then Nvidia, then ATI, & round & round we go.

So probably not a GPU issue.

  • The Heaven demo is heavily GPU bound at 1920x1200. Saying it is main memory bound uninformed at best.

FERMI was taped out long before the 5870 came out and Nvidia did not know how the 5000 series cards would perform before it was released. GPU design is not something you can redesign fundamentally in 6 six months in reaction to a rival's product release. It takes about 2 years to design a GPU core from start to finish.

  • I'm not saying the Demo is main memory bound, I'm sure it's GPU bound, but if (for whatever reason) your memory is being used up, or there is some defective memory or something, that could cause problems.

you need to have memory, no matter how little it uses.

I've had my games go horribly slow a while back, and I couldn't figure it out, until one day I switched memory sticks out, instantly my games ran fine again.

  • We'll just have to wait for the card to be officially released, see some benchmarks, and wait for a few driver releases, before we can really comment on how well or how little the card performs.

personally, I'm not too concerned with the performance, mainly because I'm a fan of 3D Vision.

if the card is 10 fps slower than ATI's flagship, that's fine, I'll have DX11, and 3D Vision.

gotta weight the pro's and cons.

  • oh yeah, just realized...

(Cuz I'm using a slow shitty PC right now)

we were talking about why it was going slow the other day...

now I don't know if you have a slow shitty PC right now, BUT it COULD be that your computer (and my gf's shitty PC) can't handle HD content, even when you disable HD.

When it goes slow, notice off the monitor, how it goes slow too (the backdrop off of the monitor), this shows the slowdown is NOT happening on the screen.

  • Well, if I was on my crappy work laptop then I would agree, but I was watching the video on my PC at home with a overclocked Core i7 at 3.78Ghz, and I can see it chugging in just the benchmark.

It's not a bad thing, the Heaven benchmark uses a very very demanding engine, but hoping for earth shattering performance over what ATI has just because of a DELAYED release date is wrong. FERMI's specs were set in stone a long time before the 5000 series was out.

  • ok, fair enough.

personally, it's really personal preference. if the 5870 ends up being faster than the GF100, then I'll still buy the GF100, because frankly I couldn't care less about framerate, I understand the limits of how many fps my brain can compute, I don't kid myself.

I'll buy the GF100 for 3D Vision, because adding an extra dimension to my gaming is more important than an unrecognizable increase in frame rate.

and more important that Eyefinity (tho it's still a cool feature too)

  • Well, when DX11 games start coming out in earnest it will be interesting to see if the GF100 manages to keep up while doing 3D at the same time. You may have to buy two of them, which is why Nvidia introduced 3D Vision in the first place after all - to sell more cards.

DX11 is enough for me. Bring on the games!

  • lol, just because they can sell more cards doesn't mean that's what they introduced it. sure it's a bonus.

you could say that EVERYTHING was introduced to make money, and you would be right. Let's not put the spot light on Nvidia.

but I know someone that has a single GTX 260, and he maxes everything out, in 3D, and it runs fine.

    it's really underrated.

I can't tell you how good 3D Vision is, you would have to try it, believe me just try it, lol

and why settle for just enough?, like DX11.

  • I don't support a company that hurts the industry with closed standards. It will come to bite consumers in the arse if it's successful.

  • oh yeah, and check this out, instead of buying $200 shutter glasses, and a $300 monitor, you can use Polarized Glasses, which cost next to nothing.

    watch?v=GMdeA59A9WA

my friend watched Avatar with them, and said it was amazing.

so really, it's a better deal than we thought.

  • You must know that ATI also have Stereoscopic 3D. Don`t talk if don`t know !

  • hey, ATI doesn't have Stereoscopic Persay, but yeah, I agree, a while back I researched it, and at the time, the solution for ATI.. "IZ3D" didn't appeal to me, because the monitor that you could use for it that requires Polarized glasses, seemed like it had a lot of glare, and so I started looking into 3D Vision, but I looked back into IZ3D, a day ago, and apparently it's not a huge issue.

so NOW I have decided to go with ATI, because they have the most powerful card now.

  • it's still not an ATI feature tho, but since IZ3D supports both video cards, I've decided to just see if the glare isn't that bad with the monitor, and then I can do Eyefinity as well

I don't have a problem with either ATI or Nvidia, sometimes I like Nvidia, sometimes I like ATI

and if I do go with ATI, I can use multiple GPU's for the 3D.

  • know that if you want 3 monitors 3d then you basically have to go gf100 since eyefinity doesn't support cf

  • yeah, I did end up deciding to go with the GF100 when it comes out, because I DID find out that Crossfire is not supported, so that's a major downfall.

  • @jfrydom

you will need 2 cards in SLI to use 3 monitors. And when nVidia Surround comes out, you can use it with the GT200 cards. The demos they used this year were running with two GTX285 cards in SLi.

  • more important than*

  • i agree!

  • 1.7 Q2-2010 20% Clock miss whirring noises.

  • You forgot the woodscrews...

  • fuck the fan boy talk =| it's good to have multiple manufacturers of GPU's otherwise there wouldn't be any inovations anymore and sky high prices.

  • ATI is way better!

  • lol, this is more funner then ATI's. i love the way nvidia makes their demo''s

  • nice

  • well... as long as we don't see real benchmarks this means nothing...

I wonder, if they have samples (cards) ready and if they're as confident about the performance as they claim they are, WHY don't they go and crush a 5870 in some in-game benchmark?

    it just doesn't smell right

  • so AMD/ATi doesn't prepare and release a new OC card or change prices. Genius

  • @ieldra

ehm you are the genius. If the card was performing that well there would be nothing ATI/AMD could do. Second, Nvidia could bridge the long wait for the release and keep potential AMD buyers from doing to.

They already lowered theoretical performance by 15% when reducing the shader count from 512 to 448. I won't buy until i see something from Nivida but things surely aren't looking so great for them now!

  • It's a type of marketing campaign. Create (negative) hype around a product so that when it is released, people can only say positive things.

  • Cheaper than bribery.

  • nothing special

  • sieht langeilig aus

  • I don't think the demo is anything special... but nice :)

  • Not bad :)

  • very nice !

  • impressive!

  • WOW NICE!!

  • is this for real?

  • youtube muss das video erst noch verarbeiten !

  • no error problem for me, no 720p HD!

  • @kotsarikos13 HD is only a resolution

  • wie geil! :D

  • ohhh mennnn you never learn....-.-

  • same problem

  • thats not an 720p HD video o.O!

  • same problem here

  • damn! "An error occurred, please try again later."
