They look much slower on video because of the way the frames per second work, kind of like how on car commercials the wheels look like they are spinning backwards. I can gaurantee you, these horses could out run your horse. Also, they aren't going full throttle all the way around the track, they keep up there energy for the long haul.
I can't believe some of the comments under the YT videos where Tom Durkin calls it. Tom is one of the best and racing is lucky to have him. He makes it fun. The people who comment probably can't call, and they've obviously never heard a BAD call!!!! His call of Barbaro's Derby win is the only one I'll listen to, I've heard other people call it and when they do, it just sounds like any other race
There is a very fast track in Phoenix, AZ by the name of Turf Paradise..current 6 furlong track record is 1.06.49...now that's fast!!! And a world record to boot!
A very enthusiastic, concise, and thrilling call that tells ya what it is :) 1:08 & 1!!!! That horse seemed a little 'opposite rank'...it wasn't fighting, but it wasn't really listening either, it got some flicks from the whip but it just kept getting out of hand. Also, Durkin's Derby call was great. MTB was hard to see suddenly coming on the rain and appearing, esp. since he was bay, plus covered in mud.

Um, sorry, but TOM DURKIN is the race caller. He's the best ever, and he is wayyy better than that stiff Californian they have doing the Breeder Cup races.

Yeah, the best ever, Just listen to his call of this year's Derby, when "the best ever" completely missed the winner making his move and didn't call him until he was 5 in front. Durkin sucks.
