Unfortunately the problem of these falsified claims of inventions is now past the internet and on to mainstream media outlets influenced by black groups that insinuate racism if not supported.
@koolcroc1 The first traffic signal appeared in London in 1868. Invented by J.P. Knight, it featured two semaphore arms and two gas lamps. Lester Wire invented a two-color electric traffic light, and it was introduced in Salt Lake City in 1912. William Potts invented a 4-way red-yellow-green traffic light, and it was introduced in Detroit in 1920.
Garrett Morgan's crank-operated semaphore traffic signal was invented in 1922, and it played no part in the evolution of the modern traffic light.
This video demonstrates a very great and real problem with the internet. And that is the ability to spread false information to people who may be too lazy to discover the truth. Mr. Morgan was probably a very industrious man and a hard worker. But he was not responsible for the traffic light- and certainly not the modern traffic light. You serve no purpose in spreading misinformation.

There were already nearly sixty U.S. patents for traffic signal devices before Morgan's was patented in 1923.
And Morgan's was not a traffic light, it was a semaphore - AND - it wasn't even installed anywhere.
Morgan did NOT invent the traffic light, nor was his invention even remotely similar to today's traffic signal device.
