I love this song. I can't even imagine what Mary was feeling when the angel told her she would be pregnant. She lived in a time when unwed mothers were stoned in the street. Then traveling - while pregnant - a great distance to Bethlehem. I just can't even imagine.
This is beautiful and heartfelt. And I don't hear any "straining" for the high notes...but if you do, it could be that emotion that you're hearing in the singing. But either way, I'd rather an "imperfect" singing from the gut than a "perfect" "Performance" without any emotion.(Amy's said she's not great with the high notes anyway...that was one reason she chose Vince for House of Love - for the high notes ;-)
For those complaining about the high notes, it's called singing with feelings and emotions. Can you imagine the actual Magnificat being sung by Mary as unemotional. This talented performer feels what her music shares.
