  • how good r the beegees

  • great song.

  • God I love these old songs.

  • The last few seconds of this original are never sang this way anywhere but here. The Bee Gees altered the final of the song on later versions

  • @nimitz1943 cierto quisas la voz ya no les alcasava ultimamente.

  • @napsterr99 I don't know the reason why the Bee Gees changed the final seconds on later versions. But I don't think is because their voice couldn't reach it. I've heard a live performance from the beginning of the 70's and the song had already been changed (and at that time they still had a very powerfull voice)

  • @nimitz1943 tienes toda la razon amigo.

  • This was changed from the original single. Apart from the stereo mix, the ending has changed. At the end on the original single, they sing "One more hour and my life will be through" BEFORE "I just gotta get a message to you", which the mixers stuck over the "aaaaaaahhhhs"

  • @cbak12sg To hear the original, go to /watch?v=daEfLfoBKjM

  • Amo voces e essa música que pra mim é inesquecível!!

  • i'm 27 and love this song

  • didnt the guy he killed sleep with his ex or sumthang.....i remember my mom explaining this song to me when i was little

  • How I wish to be born during this time

  • @CallMeDunhill It was an awesome time. Besides great music, theres was a naivety, open heartedness, innocence that is hard to find now.

  • love it

  • just a few words hoping robin gibb recovers from is illness bee gees have been my heroes since 1966 . bought every album, good luck robin

  • @jenbarnesyy123 yes thay are the best am from ireland love them

  • @jenbarnesyy123

    amen too that

  • i bought this record in 1968 and i played it for 2hours non stop.

  • classic bee gee's!

  • from the days when writing songs was an art form,

as opposed to the dogshit they cooky-cutter release today and for the last 25 yrs.

  • @over700songs I agree......

  • This is one of my Dad's favorite songs, and he's sung it many times on the piano.

This is the first time I've heard the original, and truth be told, it's kind of discordant.

  • One more hour and my life will be through ~

  • 17 People are tone deaf.

  • Hold on, Hold onnn!

  • Everything is subject to interpretation. As a writer I know what I am thinking of when I write something but am well aware that my work could be interpreted any way by other's. The Bee Gee's have written and recorded so many lyrics and hundreds of thousands of people listen and take away from their work what they receive from it. I may see it one way while thousnads of you see it another. That is the beauty of the written/and or spoken word!

  • Reminds me of my mom, she's a crazy bee gees fan.

  • VERY GOOD SONG MESSAGE TO ALL RATS ALL RATS ARE LIARS! RELEASE GORILLA FROM PRISON AND OVERTURN SENTENCE BUM RAP! • CLASSIC, It really dont get much better than this if your a bee gee fan, thanx for sharing this tune, its awsome

  • I've got this origanal album. i love the Bee Gees

  • I've got this origanal album. i love the Be Gees

  • 17 people were taunted by the preacher.

  • They were involved in the soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night Fever. Some songs were not disco songs like Fanny, Love So Right and many others--these were out in 1976.

  • @calalilygirl i heard this is a song about a guy on death row. do you know?

  • @m1kewithaone I never looked at this song that way. But getting to death row, it makes perfect sense. Even if it is probably not meant to, I still gotta say "wow"!

  • @m1kewithaone rumor says he wrote it after a quarrel with his wife,

in which a man tries to get the priest to tell his wife he is sorry for killing he r lover.

  • @gtrfurby The Bee Gees were not married at the time this song was written, Robin and Maurice were just 18 and Barry was 20, so that rumour is unfounded.

  • @gtrfurby ok, and if he murdered someone then he's probably on death row, right? he says, " in one more hour, my life will be through".... man, when this first came out, i never had any idea what this song was about. it's pretty shocking to me now....

  • Its interesting to hear your perspective....Thanks for sharing

  • @calalilygirl This song was released in 68.

  • @MrStaghare I believe I did know that. The 76 era songs were Fanny, Love so Right etc before the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. I never said this was from 76 or that it wasn't from 68.

  • They were involved in the soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night Fever. After that some songs were not disco songs like Fanny, Love So Right and many others.

  • I didnt know Pete Best was in the BeeGees too, wow.

  • I loved the 60's and 70's and also the 80's. Now music has turned into scratched records and trash. Music now is awful and if I had my choice I would shoot all the " CRAPPERS !"

  • Love this song. The vocals and insturments are excellent. It is so amazing to me that they can sing like this and then do the great disco they did. I have always felt they were so over looked with awards and such. In my opinion this is probably the best band ever.

  • Recuerdos inolvidables con mi hermana Yajaira

  • This is the original single version released in 1968. I know because I bought it in 1968 & I've played my single & it's identical to this version. You can tell by the piano hook in the background. This is a brilliant record.

Some "best of" versions are re-recordings done later and some are done by cover artists. Always go back to the original - originals are the best :)

  • still curious! ...Pls share @ addentini@gmail.com...I'm ADDENTINI...GOOGLE ME...IF only 2 understand...

  • @crimsonabsinthe Not sure what you mean.... the only difference between various appearances of this song was the speed. Same recording, but some run too fast while others run too slow. (The website 'Gibb Songs' explains this in detail.)

  • @crimsonabsinthe So many of their records are brilliant my friend. I don't think people appreciate the talent and rive in this band. Who had that many great hooky hits over so many decades. People so take them for granted.

  • Yes days that were fun and when piece cost a penny, lol I sent the kids to the store and said " get some penny candy" the laughed so hard it was indeed very good even with thngs wrong it was simpler

  • This song.. Nuff said!

  • love that song

  • Man, this really bring back those fond memories of simple, carefree days of an era gone forever. I really treasure those days.......

  • This version sounds a bit different to the "Very Best of the Bee Gees" version. One example is 0:04 where a different guitar chord is playing with a cymbal at the same time, the Very Best version has a piano key playing instead of guitar. Also, this version is a key lower than the Very Best version. Were they recorded at seperate times?

  • @avalanchesuperstar I believe that this version is the actual single that came out in 1968, when they released the Best Of Bee Gees I noticed how different the versions were, I personally prefer this one.

  • @Orky210 So, where did the "Very Best" version come from? Is it an outtake? Is it the album version? Or was it just edited?

  • @avalanchesuperstar Its not unusual for bands to do a few versions of a particular song and to have various opinions abot which one should be released, I think the producer will have an input too, so the copy onthe best of the Bee Gees was available to use for the album. Having purchased all of the remastered albums , I was suprised at just how many different versions of songs were done. Completely different lead vocals and harmony and use of instruments on so many songs, it was a joy to behold.

  • I define my tastes as punk and I LOVE the Bee Gees.

  • the bee gees will never have any dislikes..so dont mind the piss takers and dont fall for it...

  • good song...before my time but ive always liked it

  • A great song from one of pop's best bands. Although i prefer their 60's incarnation to their 70's disco era that stuff is incredibly well done & pre Saturday Night fever songs like 'Nights on Broadway' are pop masterpieces. They wrote , sang & played which is what used to be the norm. These guys were master craftsmen.

  • The Bee Gees had a combination of vocals and talent that other bands could only dream about, they had something about them that made them different from other groups, just pure genius really.

  • I Love These Guys and God Blessed Them before He Blessed Me Thank You

  • The Bee Gees were always a great quality group and then when Saturday Night Fever was released a lot of non-informed people discovered them and saw how talented they were. This album was an overused staple in my collection.

  • nice song great somg writers

  • The lyrics are great, the lead is excellent, but the magic in this song is the falsetto background vocals. Listen to the song again and pay attention to all that is going on back there. It is what really adds to the feeling of the song.

  • @anakina1 I always found that distracting.

  • good music

  • i love the Bee Gees

  • I think I wore this album out in 1970.

  • At least this was predisco days when they were doing songs with meaning istead of just having a good dance beat!

  • @frizdizzielizzie1959 So How Deep Is Your Love, Nights On Broadway, More Than A Woman have no meaning, you TWAT!

  • @17DJLOVER wow who pissed in your cornflakes this morning, all I meant was I liked their earlier music better. By the way I saw Saturday Night Fever in the theater when it came out!

  • @frizdizzielizzie1959 I was merely being facetious lol

  • @17DJLOVER No meaning to you, but alot of meaning to others, I'm sure the Bee Gees touched alot of people with their music

  • @sunny56763 That is what I was saying you fucking simpleton!

  • damn it i listen to this song like 100X broke my headset and my speaker!

  • 13 people didn't get the message he was tryin' to give.

  • listening to this song makes me more PRO CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.

  • @MissDANELDA mmm one of the most ridiculous statements I've heard. They have been 'together' courting for I think it's 6 years or it could be more. That's an awful long time to 'fake it'. Grow up and quit the jealousy

  • @MissDANELDA green eyed monster......

  • @MissDANELDA Is there any way I can kill you without going to jail for it, because it would be very fun to do so.

  • This version is a note lower than the album version, which is availble on "The Very Best Of the Bee Gees".

  • oh hey man haha

  • thanks jojo!

check out our a Capella arrangement arranged by bluevale's martin lacoste!

  • @GrandeSizeIt

    Hey Grande ;)

  • IM 16 AND IN LOVE WITH THE BEE GEES!!!

  • I bet you this is how Prince WIlliam felt before marrying that gold digger...one more hour and my life will be through....and he was praying to Di singing this!

  • A man should NOT ever executed for killing his wife's lover. The lover should be.

  • Live or in studio ur voice are the same..

  • I also love this) i listen to it NON stop on my MP3 player

  • This Was My Sisters Favorite Song 40+Years Ago Heres for You Janet

  • wow thanks again) very good detail;; GREAt SONG

  • @jamesfrance94

    OH;;;;;; i see thanks

  • @purselady2 i found this info too, The song is about a man who, awaiting his execution in the electric chair, begs the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife. Robin Gibb, who wrote the lyrics, said that the man's crime was the murder of his wife's lover. He came up with the idea following a quarrel with his wife and originally conceived the song with Percy Sledge in mind to record it.

  • BCI knight caps did this song and did amazingly!!!

  • what is this song about?

  • @purselady2 the girl he loves is about to marry someone else, but he still loves hers

  • WTF r u talkin about a DOG on this VIDEO?

  • BOYCOTT TUCSON AZ THEY KILLED MY DOG SUKI ON 1/5/2011

  • MUSIC will NEVER be the SAME

  • like what year ?

  • Awesome sound. I loved the early Bee Gees - so much talent in one family

  • Seriously, the 11 people who don't like this song should have their heads/ears examined.

  • great memories

  • beautiful

  • this is my aunts greatest album...and i love it too

  • A classic number one hit from 1968 - almost a decade before the Bee Gees achieved their greatest success commercially, when they wrote the soundtrack to the motion picture "Saturday Night Fever".

As Simon Bates once said, with more than a hint of irony: "Back in 1968, the world was full of cheerful songs like that."

"Batesy" was referring, of course, to the dark and maudlin lyrics of "I've Gotta Get A Message To You". Beautiful song ...... although its subject matter is very grim.

  • 11 people need to get a message to them!

  • hmmm, such a very nice song,i like it so much:)

  • Reminds me of when Colleen moved away after 5th grade and it broke my heart,

  • You can kill the messenger but you can't kill the message.Te Tino Rangatiratanga.

  • Combine this song with Indiana Wants Me by R. Dean Taylor, Sing Me Back Home by Merle Haggard, and Green Green Grass of Home by Tom Jones for a well-rounded listening experience.

  • @Majjohnson123

Not to mention "I Did What I Did For Maria" by Tony Christie [1971] and the somewhat lesser known "Scarred And Scared" by Rod Stewart [1978].

  • the best part about this song..is the painful emotion in their voice really makes you connect to the guy in this song..dying because he killed his wifes lover..sad really.

  • @gimmeurchipz mornin', me born '58, never heard that take on the tune. if you do not mind me asking, where did you get that take on the song?

  • @toymay24 thats what ther song is about..a man killed his wifes lover. and now he's on death row..he's simply wanting the preacher to tell his wife he's sorry and he lovesh er

  • 1968 was full of sad songs --this one, "Honey," "Abraham, Martin, and John--centering on death.

  • How did they pick the subject matter for their songs? So many of them are depressing but they make beautiful music out of them?

  • I bought this album in the early 70's and I still have it along with so many Bee Gee others..They were the group from England who sent us LOVE in all of their songs. My all time favorites

  • have a listen to " IN YOUR MIND " by andrew gerbasi. Also a good tune!

  • I loved the BeeGees as a kid and I still enjoy their music even now. This song was one of the very first songs that I ever slow danced to as a teenager and I can remember thinking, "DAMN, I NEVER KNEW SLOW DANCING COULD FEEL SO GOOOOOOOOD!" Hee-hee-hee. :)

  • Thank you GOD for the music from this group...

  • im only 15 and this song is so touching.. i love it.

  • Great, but I think, the original mix on the 45 sounds a bit different (and better?) , isn't it ?

  • OMG !!!! The memories......ayaaa

  • This song was number 1 in the uk charts on the day i was born 29/8/68...

  • Comment removed

  • I bought this album when I was a kid(over 40 years ago) and I must have played it hundreds of times. I've still got the album and its still GREAT!

  • this is WAY better than the disco crap they did in the '70s.

  • muito bom!!
