How can one not love Merry and Pipen? I wish I could like beam myself into the movie, the actual movie just so I could hang around them (even if it meant I would die the next day to the sword of an ork) but it would be worth it!
I like merry and pippin they are funny hobbits with lots of spirit but my all time favorite hobbit in Sam without him Frodo would never have made it he was the one that saw that smegul cared only for the ring he saved Frodo from being eaten by Shelob (look it up) Saved Frodo from Barad Dur and he was never corrupted by the ring as other people (like Faramir) where hypnotized from looking at it for like 5 seconds. so ya Sam is without a doubt the best hobbit if not character in the whole movie
@lamak8 Ale runs the gamut of all strengths. I'm drinking one right now at 10% that's big, but the English ales especially post-war in most respects are commonly found under 4%. Go to London, a cask pint of ordinary bitter or mild will run around 3.5%. Wish we could get that in the States. I've had ales as low in alcohol as 3.1% and as high as 27% (Sam Adams Utopias) though the common 'ceiling' is around 12-13% especially in Belgium land of the strong ale.
@lamak8 The archaic definition of ale is an unhopped malt based alcoholic beverage, traditional one would use a mixture of herbs called gruit to balance the sweetness of the malt. Beer was a term for a hopped alcoholic malt beverage. I'm assuming that;s what they mean here since there's quite a medieval feel to Middle-Earth. The current definition is they're all beer, split into ales and lagers by the type of yeast used. I'm currently drinking a tasty Belgian Christmas ale. Cheers!
i came up with a kind of shortened version it goes " you can drink'em by the pint, you can drink'em by the flagon, but the only brew for the brave and true is at the green dragon"
you can search far an wide you can drink the whole town dry but you'll never find a beer so brown but you'll never find a beer so brown as the one we drink in our home town as the one we drink in our home town you can drink your fancy ales you can drink em by the flagon but the only brew for the brave and true..... - Pippin! But the only brew for the brave and true.. comes form the green dragon Looove it!!
I don't think Pippin looking at Gandalf was in the theatrical version, I could be wrong cuz I'm so used to the extended versions, but I know the drinking game was extended only, but Pippin looking at Gandalf was also extended.
yea i have the movie and watched it like 20 mins ago and he doesn't look at gandalf

Awesome song.
And lads, what means "fancy ales"? Is it some kind of beer in Middle Earth?
I'm European so little bit don't understand :P

@lamak8
A fermented alcoholic beverage containing malt and hops, similar to but heavier than beer. Oh my noob :P

Weve got a pub in my neighbourhood called (translated from Sw.) The Green Hunter. Me and friends use to sing this after a few too many.
North Stockholm can drink their fancy ales, but the only brew for the brave (well...) and true, comes from The Green Hunter!

Why did Pippin look at Gandalf? O.O
AnnaS1n 7 months ago
@AnnaS1n He wanted a piece of Sarumans Palantír, which Gandalf held on to, totally ignorant of the FindersKeepers-code.
