I just installed on my HD 4890. Plugged into 12v. My problem is I cannot change the fan speed at all through any software. It says it is changing, but it has no effect on the fans- they just sit at 1980 RPM. any ideas? I have everything hooked up correctly.

Firstly, very nice video and you have done amazing comparison and research here!

But, I'm very dissapointed both in performance and noise...

When comparing my XFX Radeon HD 4870 512mb stock and ACATT temps, ACATT has circa same temps as stock in 20% fan speed, even higher! And the 12v doesn't much help the thing.

Everest: GPU's DispIO and Shader dropped ~10c and ~6c .

The MemIO (the CCC Temperature) is same or even higher as stock. Could still reach 84c in gaming!

Idle temps:

GPU Diode (DispIO)42 °C (108 °F)

GPU Diode (MemIO)60 °C (140 °F)

GPU Diode (Shader)48 °C (118 °F)

7v, and especially 12v, in my opinion, are noisy! Not an option for silent-computer-seekers!

Don't know, how you get that amazing results! :/

You were pretty lucky with the stock cooler. Mine runs at 80°C idle with 50% speed. Furmark (1280x1024, 8xAA) can make it burn at 110°C.

I have a sapphire singe slot one.

what do you mean? I can change the fan speed, but if the driver thinks the card is too hot, it will make the fan go faster regardless of my setting.

reference cooler have a fruad that automatic fan control is not working unless if the bios is modded

Do you mean that it can't change the speed correctly. It was like that when I got the card and you had to manually change the speed, but they've fixed it in some drivers. I can tell, because it gets really loud in some games.

ic, that's good to know, in that case u should look into the dust between the fan and the heatsink fins, it's likely there maybe no air going through the cooler, cause when i was using the reference cooler b4 buying this one, at 60% fan speed i dont' exceed 65-70c on load

You've got very good temp. I installed this on my 9800Gt and with the power adaptor directly connected to psu molex connector 12v I get idle 52C and load 65C. I've tried everything but can't get them down!

I have OC my card and my card runs 40-50C on idle and 60-70C on load + i have stock cooler and its dual slot fansink from sapphire.

yes, Twin Turbo is not a "Quality" cooler, it's meant to be budget cheap cooler, uses cheap alluminium material, but it amazingly performs very well. so to answer ur question, i can have hte card stright because the cooler is not heavy at all.
