I love this band. She may not have meant to say it but at 3:27 she says: "You've got the hard on...you've got to hold on." I hope she meant to say it, becasue that would be a great sense of humour.
this is the first song/video I've seen from these guys. unfortunately, it's not often that I get chills from a performance, but her voice did it to me. I saw where they're playing Bonnaroo and decided to check them out, and I'm glad I did.
@chongo94 i suck at life and this song has really grew on me hearing several times on the radio. it's like this song is telling me to hug many people as I can and it doesn't matter who the hell they are and how they have lived so far and how very different they are from me or whether we get along or not. And trust me I won't feel the same way as I did the next day, compared to these very fleeting moments of epiphany. That's the hard part.
@chongo94 And a young man in his teens jumped off from either a roof or balconey of his high school, and yea all that is left of him is a very sad memory and all the events prior to that that hurt him deeply...whether private, semi-private, and perhaps eveuntually exposed that are probably best kept quiet about. And then there was Phoebe Prince, the homosexual college student who jumped off a bridge because of lame friends, and many others we won't be hearing about.
@chongo94 Really I know this is cheesy, but honestly here is a toast or commemeration or whatever to people that are lost, confused, and taking life by the reigns. Oh and good music and food, lol.
Their music blesses my heart and my soul. This is REAL music! I also cannot stop listening to them. I heard them live on KCRW this week and was immediately a fan! Was not able to get tickets to their show at the Troubadour but I will be definitely be there when they come back to Los Angeles .. which I hope is real sooon. Thank you Shakes for the great music and thanks to KCRW for introducing me to this terrific band.
so good. So much passion, but care and restraint in the playing. Lots of space in the arrangement for the great little parts that everyone is playing. And dynamics! wonderful stuff.
@beachballsify2 I too thought it was a male singer when I heard them on kcrw the day before yesterday here in L.A. She is amazing! Adding another band to hear live to my list!
