I love the Meerkat Manor show and was surprised when I found season 2 and 3 on video at the closing of the Blockbuster near where I live, I scooped them up and watched them as soon as I got home. Sadly season 3 has Flowers death when she was bitten by a Cape Cobra. Another post commented that Zaphod has just died, I was so attached to them and admired all that Flower and Zaphod had accomplished.
I cried when Flower died. I love meerkats. I'm making Flower an AMV, because nobody uses animals in music videos...especially wild animals. Y is that? Oh well. Nice video.

It was up to the meerkat to survive and rocketdog survive but flower was old and there was hope but she could not take it anymore and died.

Sophie was renamed Ella but the current whisker group names, i dont recognize them :P just go on wikipedia and look under the names of meerkats to kmow more info

The real meerkat who played Sophie in season 1, 2 and 3 (who was actually named Tina Sparkle in real life and was Mozart's daughter) went missing after trying to lead her own group for a while. I liked Flower because she was so brave and dedicated to her pups, she died defending her family, to her, that snake was a monster, so big and deadly, yet she went in with no fear, risking and losing her life in battle against the evil that threatened her babies, I would like to be as brave as her when the time comes to be tested.

Zaphod is still alive according to the latest report(March) form the Kalahari Meerkat Project. He is Dominant Male of the Zappa or Aztec(I forget). He is the oldest meerkat and I think he turns 11 this December!
So did I and I do it every time I watch those episodes again, which I do because I just LOVE these little guys. Flower was different from Lola, Punk and other dominant females in other families. She was firm but generous-odd for a wild animal- not only sparing her daughter's illegal pups but taking in little Axel from a warring neighbor family, just before she dies defending her own pups. Tears are choking me now. RIP FLOWER RIP! You were one of a kind!
yesterday i watched the episode she died.. :( she was great he spared the life of a zappa pup(i forgot the name of the pup sadly) and died protecting her family from a king cobra in their home.. she was bitten on the head... may flower always be remembered.

I have talked to someone who has been in the same research station where they filmed it. You have to know: not all the scenes were performed by exactly the same individuals, sometimes a scene was taken from another clan and the names 'changed'...

I liked Flower because she was so brave and dedicated to her pups, she died defending her family, to her, that snake was a monster, so big and deadly, yet she went in with no fear, risking and losing her life in battle against the evil that threatened her babies, I would like to be as brave as her when the time comes to be tested.

They are not Rats they are mammals and rats are rodents(which is a mammal I think but of different species). I don't understand people....the appeal in these animals is that they are totally social...just like humans. They need each other to survive.

what a clever idea. film a bunch of wild merekats for a couple of months and after editing of the footage and appropriately commercially idealistic narration giving the impression the animals possess pallatable human qualities and peddle the resulting dribble to 8 to 14 year olds who are sure to buy lots of KFC.
Even better if one of them dies, then the 'tragedy of the fallen hero' can be spieled out for greater effect and even higher ratings.

You are wrong. If you have really love animals or if you could see that TV show, you wouldn't say that. It's like the real life, when somebody from your family or someone close to you dies. The poor meekats felt this pain when Flower died...But, if you won't understand that the animals are like us, do what you want. I simply don't care. All I wanna say is: "Rest in peace Flower, the Queen of the Kalahari. NOTHING will be the same without you."

Im just watching the Meerkats for the 1st time and didnt even know she had died till just now. And all my other faves like Shakespeare, Zaphod, Mozart, Mitch. There all gone, i cant believe it!

I was broken hearted when I learned they are in Meerkat Heaven. Animal Planet did a fabulous job showing these tiny creatures. I am very sad they are gone, and cried my eyes out!!!!!

When I saw the episode when flower died I was talking to my BFF on the phone and when they said she died... I cried. And cried... and cried.. oh you get the point. I loved Flower!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Okay I like Flower but my hand goes to Shakespeare he survived that snake bite saved I think two lives and eventually saving some pups when he disappeared.He may not been the leader but he sure is the hero of the show.

Zaphod is still alive according to the latest report(March) form the Kalahari Meerkat Project. He is Dominant Male of the Zappa or Aztec(I forget). He is the oldest meerkat and I think he turns 11 this December!

So did I and I do it every time I watch those episodes again, which I do because I just LOVE these little guys. Flower was different from Lola, Punk and other dominant females in other families. She was firm but generous-odd for a wild animal- not only sparing her daughter's illegal pups but taking in little Axel from a warring neighbor family, just before she dies defending her own pups. Tears are choking me now. RIP FLOWER RIP! You were one of a kind!

yesterday i watched the episode she died.. :( she was great he spared the life of a zappa pup(i forgot the name of the pup sadly) and died protecting her family from a king cobra in their home.. she was bitten on the head... may flower always be remembered.

I have talked to someone who has been in the same research station where they filmed it. You have to know: not all the scenes were performed by exactly the same individuals, sometimes a scene was taken from another clan and the names 'changed'...
