  • I believe the biggest problem is many self proclaimed Christians merely go through their "religious" motions without ever truly letting Jesus into their heart and making him Lord of their Life.

  • @andysmusic That sounds so creepy. "Lord of their Life" makes it sound like those persons are his slaves.

  • You earned a new subscriber.

  • Eh...it didn't sound as good, but your points were stronger. Also I think that believing that one's sins can be forgiven by sacrificing an innocent (even if he does it willingly) is one of the most wicked things about Christianity.

  • I totally loved the poem as well but I notice it had major flaws. Religion means to practice a moral code. Christians follow and believe in a moral code, a moral code that god gave us. The bible is the word of God and nowhere in the bible does it say Jesus hates religion. The poet really ment that Jesus hated man made religion. The men in the church were corrupt then and still are today. You cannot just believe in Jesus, You have to walk with Jesus and that is religion

  • its funny how people forget that Jesus is a person who loves us, not a religion.

  • @SweetAfrica93 Jesus is a part of religion. Muhammad isn't religion, but Islam is.

  • @mikkwik "I am convinced when I walk down the street that the "Jesus" belief keeps potentially dangerous people in check" - Heres the thing, If you can demonstrate that this is true then it will revolutionise the social science's. Can I ask why you are convinced of this?

I mean if it's true then it's true and I will believe it but evidence suggests that having beliefs reflect reality, ie. actually understand the world around you and how your actions affect others is always a safer option

  • Good job!

  • Not to get off-topic, but Chattiestspike looks like Neil Gaiman with the sunglasses and black jacket

  • I am convinced when I walk down the street that the "Jesus" belief keeps potentially dangerous people in check. as long as they think it is real is all that matters.

  • Nice one

  • where do people learn about jesus? where are people married and buried?

  • :)

  • If it's really not you, then no problem Spike. I just razzed you a bit and one of your fans (or judging from his reaction, maybe stalker would be a bit more appropriate) choose to take it a little too personal.

  • I am a follower of Christ and i dont agree with the religioon thing Religion is not JESUS! Jesus is a relationship! not RELIGION

  • @stewiepraize That's like saying football isn't a sport, or green isn't a color.

EVERY religion is centered around a relationship with a god or gods. Christianity is no different than Islam or Judaism.

In fact, Christians worship the SAME god as Jews and Muslims. The god of Abraham.

    Google: Abrahamic religions.

  • @TylerOmega

I think he must be a troll, because, fuck me

  • ahhh half ass empty attempt. to pose true skill .

  • Brilliant

  • One thing I've learned.

♥ If we are Lazy on the Truth, He will shake us uP.

♥ If we sleep on the Truth He will wake us Up.

♥ If we hide from the Truth, He will find us.

♥ But by then... it may be too late for us.

♥ So by the power of the Holy Spirit,

♥ I choose not to relax, sleep, or Hide.

♥ But rather seek and I shall find.

♥ Knock and it shall be opened.

♥ And ask and it shall be given.

  • @soldierofzion82

Soldier used Quote the Bible to Prove the Bible! It's not very effective...

  • I was thinking the same thing. I mean what do believers tell recruits after tellin em bout jesus? do they say "meet me at the wal mart magazine aisle this Sunday......we will discuss Jesus!..?

saying religion isnt necessary to know jesus is like saying "i would like a glass of water....without the glass."

  • then why follow religion?

  • @niebew Yeah I think that's what he meant but I'm not sure. How someone interpret the poem can really affect someones opinion about it.

  • DUDE!!! IT YOUR TURN FOR THE BONG !!!

  • awwww damnnnnn

  • @TheYipedo Pretty much

  • I think what religion referred to in that poem is the church, the commercializing of the religion, the corrupt structure of their system of manipulation. And that's why I liked that video but if that was not the intention, I agree with you about the apparent hypocrisy here.

  • @niebew actually, religion is a term some Christians toss around frequently. When we say it we are referring to the harsh legalistic dogma that some (often other Christians) expect all Christians to follow in order to be considered acceptable or righteous. In a nutshell, the poem is saying that following all those rules that others put on you (religion) won't make you righteous. Following Jesus' words to change your heart is what will cause you to make great strides.

  • @niebew from my perspective, this poem was targeted towards Christians who understand his terminology. Its kind of like going to work for a fashion company when you have a different background. We use terms that other people use, but they are confusing or misunderstood to others because we use them in a different way. Certain Christian circles have their own lingo to, as does every group.

  • this video deserves x1000 more views

  • re·li·gion [ri-lij-uhn] Show IPA

    noun

    1.

a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

His Jesus worship fits this definition in EVERY SINGLE WAY. The rhymes were good and all, but the message was just completely absurd and hypocritical.

  • Nice work Spike.

  • Your still misunderstanding the video.

  • salvation is spelled DONE. religion is spelled DO. see the difference? all the religions say DO and you might make it. The Bible says trust Jesus only and its DONE. Heaven is sure but believing Jesus by FAITH. you missed the whole point. you are lost, sir. 2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them...that little 'g' god is the devil until Jesus comes back

  • I looooved this!!!

  • WOW - great Video and you worded it perfectly i appreciate and thank you!!! GOD Bless...

  • Why do Christians want to disassociate there beliefs with religion?

That's a much more interesting question.

I think it must be because they want their beliefs to be special, correct and is different from all the other contradictory beliefs people have.

What's interesting is that I'm sure someone could make a case that the beliefs they have about what God believes is just there own beliefs subconsciously reflected to God. This would explain them wanting to disassociate from religion.

  • @truckcompany So true. I hear all kind of non-sense from Christians nowadays who can't accept the fact that their religion is only one of thousands both living and dead. They make up excuses like "Oh, well Christianity isn't a religion, it is (1) a relationship with God; (2) a way of life; (3) the truth; etc etc etc

  • @TheYipedo

Yeah, meanwhile, other religious people claim that their version of Christianity is not a religion, they would use the same arguments as each other, yet the two have contradictory beliefs...

Their flawed logic is so obvious to people who aren't caught by the religious spell...

  • I believe bball1989 means religion in the sense of our modern perception of the word and what people asscociaye it with rather than a moral code

  • It's the same old PR line every religion has always used. OH THOSE OTHER PEOPLE'S gods are fake, but OUR GODS are real!

  • Roses are red, violets are blue

Both Jesus & religion stink like poo-poo.

  • @420messenger He was not talking about loving Jesus, he was talking about following Jesus. Following the teachings and morals of a divine figure is religion.

  • @chattiestspike2 look at your title.

    "following Jesus"

if you love someone, that's what happens. don't you know what love is?

  • @420messenger Sure I can look at the title, but I also listened to his poem. He was talking about following the teachings of jesus because apparently jesus is the cure to religion. His words, not mine.

  • @chattiestspike2 if you love something, whether that's Jesus or ice scream, you follow it. that's not the same as practicing a religion or following some doctrines.

  • @420messenger Would you agree that christianity is a religion? Of course you would. You would be foolish not to.

He said in his poem "religion is man searching for god, christianity is god searching for man." It was this little poof of endorsement he made in favor of christianity in which he indirectly asserts that christianity is true, and others are not OTHERWISE he would not have said that bit about christianity AT ALL. Do you see the problem now?

  • @chattiestspike2 we are NOT talking about "christianity." we are not talking about any religion. we are talking about LOVE. don't you know that yet?

    "god searching for man"

understand the parable of the lost son AKA The Prodigal Son.

  • @420messenger you still don't get it. This automatically assumes that the God of the Bible, that you believe in, exists. Let's say I believed an alien species called Galadornius who has an intergalactic empire and is on Earth right now in disguise. I could make the same argument you are making right now. Galadornius isn't about man investigating the paranormal, it's about the paranormal investigating man. It doesn't work unless you can actually prove it with evidence.

  • @TheRepublicOfUngeria Using logical analogies won't always work for the stubborn-minded. They won't accept the fact that a supernatural deity's existence is just as likely as a unicorn's.

  • @420messenger i can't help but ask, do you really follow ice cream?

  • @420messenger

The few times I was in love with a girl and in a relationship with them. I didnot blindly follow them. We had rows, just like any couple in the world has fights.

But loving eachother means you listen to eachother. not one party lording it over the other and always one party being the one that gets to decide.

    That's not love.

And if you think that's love... I pity you for never having experienced true love.

  • @420messenger i love lady gaga and marilyn manson but i dont follow them or do what they do or say....i dont think you know what love is....go to a dictionary and look up 'love' then look up 'follow' they are not the same thing nor are they necessarity connected....

  • @chattiestspike2 Are we to discount every last thing that Jesus said just because he said it? The beatitudes? The golden rule? Here is a small list of people who could separate Jesus from religion and admired Rabbi Jesus' teachings for what they were: Einstein, Thomas Paine, Jefferson, Hitchens, Gould, Franklin, David Hume . . . . this list could be long indeed!! --but then these guys are all dumb compared to a marketing major I suppose.

  • @hatemorethanyou999

Oh shit! The golden rule?! That Jesus is some revolutionary there. That's some real fricken original advice.

"Hey everyone don't murder children for fun!" Do I now get to be a moral paragon with thousands of people who follow my ingenious teachings?

Did I mention that if you don't listen to me I'll set you on fire? Clearly I am to be admired by thousands of people the world over for being the legendary thinker and moral guardian that I am.

  • @blackplatypus Yes Confucius said nearly the same thing in 400 bce, and I submit that there is no tribe hidden in the deepest jungles of Borneo, undiscovered by civilization to this day, if such a people exist, that would not have an analog to the golden rule. You missed my point entirely--perhaps you should read a little more carefully before: a) becoming angree, and b) firing back a senseless response.

  • @hatemorethanyou999

I'm not angry, I'm mocking you. Anybody can throw out obvious feel-good nonsense sprinkled with "or you burn in hell." That hardly makes them good people to be admired or followed.

Also, it's funny to me how you called my mockery senseless whilst your original comment was comprised entirely to a fallacious appeal to authority.

  • @blackplatypus What the Hell are you talking about! I am not even a Christian. Where you see a kid who has written some bad poetry (along with Chattiestspike) I see a young person who is at least thinking and questioning. And what is it that you call an argument that rejects everything coming from a source simply because of the source? Ah yes an ad hominem. The Bible is a collection of writings written over a thousand years by humans that ranges from utter nonsense to sublime wisdom.

  • @hatemorethanyou999

Still yet to hear any of this "sublime wisdom." Hence the sarcasm in my first post

  • @blackplatypus The skill and power of the writer of Job is unquestioned by anyone who is not prejudiced. Most literary critics place him or her right up there with Shakespeare. Ecclesiasticus is also of unquestioned literary merit. And the prose in the morally questionable Judges, is nearly flawless--undoubtedly superior to Aesop."There are none so blind as those who will not see." I feel sorry for you, you have let Atheism, like so many have let religion destroy great literature for no reason.

  • @hatemorethanyou999

I'm sorry, you said the bible contained "sublime wisdom" not "literary merit." Also, it's entertaining to me that you didn't actually provide any justification for your claims you simply *asserted* things and appealed to the opinions of literary critics. Here, I'll start you off.

"The writer of Job is skilled because..."

  • @blackplatypus "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?--gird up now thy loins like a man." Yes I have "asserted things" but I am not going to write you an assay for free--go read Job, and see if you can find fault with the poetry. Shakespeare, Blake, Wordsworth, Frost, Paine, Whitman, Swift . . . .this would be a tiny fraction of the writers who praise the poet of job, and were influenced by him or her.

  • fuck jesus

  • Unless you're high, take off the glasses.

  • @ggrp2 It's a little bit difficult to do that since the video is already uploaded.

  • @chattiestspike2 You're a bit socially awkward aren't you?

  • @ggrp2 bitch!!! leave the spike alone....he's one of the most eloquent, interesting intelligent men in the world...

  • @ezmereldagreen Judging from his fan base (you), you wouldn't think it. BTW...chattiestspike2, if you're gonna have multiple accounts you might consider not making it so obvious.

  • @ggrp2 I have two accounts. Chattiestpike2 and silentspike2. What's the problem?

  • @ggrp2 Believe me Im not the only one....us yt girls just love him...im a real person with a 2 year old yt channel...the spike doesnt need sock accounts...

  • not too many rebuttals to this poem, glad to see I'm not the only sane person here.

  • at first i thought you were right but i thought about it and realized that christianity isnt a religion its a mutral belief that many religions share. there are many different types of christianity like methodest or catholic but if its nondenominational its a belief not a religion

  • This is christian hatespeech through careful spindoctoring. The word implied in the poem is "I hate (other) religions, but I love Jesus"

  • I hate vampires but i love Dracula.

  • hmm good points in here. Everyone seems to have good thoughts. All we have to do is put them together and throw out the bs

  • /watch?v=MS10q54D3Io&feature=related

you need to watch this dude. and your poem sucked

  • That was really good and spot on!

  • If someone, without proof, claimed that the long dead Koratu was the son of God then nobody would believe him.

Similarly, since there's no proof Jesus was the son of God it is only through religion that people believe in him, which is why he's only considered the son of God by Christians (e.g. not Buddhists, Jews or Muslims).

If you don't believe in the Matrix then you can't believe Neo actually existed. Do you have evidence Neo or Jesus existed?

  • Religion to me just isn't as big a topic for me right now as politics and economics is. After the Austrians fix everything that the Keynesians fucked up, then we can get back to religion vs atheism.

  • The irony of his message is that his belief in Jesus wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Christianity surviving as a religion. Nor does claiming a relationship make Christianity any more special or true.

  • @JDFatalist : Not to mention Christianity as it is today is a hodge podge of stolen traditions. The neo pagans should sue for copyright.

  • If I hear any more poet/rap shit on youtube I'M LEAVING!

  • @smartarse001

sorry man, there's nothing you can do

the poem/rap shit what it's coming down to

you can't escape it, you can't get away

sorry for your intolerance, enjoy your stay

  • @chattiestspike2 I will hunt you down and make you listen to good music!

  • @chattiestspike2

I'm going to eat your face,

    In ma place.

I'm gonna chew on ya liver.

Then throw ya in the river.

    Awww yeah, Nigeria!

  • that`s right on...there one and the same...The End

  • Elloquent, and unequivocally correct.

  • I can't stand all the praise that video is getting. Most people are like "Derp derp soooo trueee1!!"

  • Religion is only the other guy's faith.

  • Thank you so much for making this! Oh my god. I was so sick of seeing the original video being called "fantastic"

  • Good video. It's pretty dumb to say that worshiping Jesus is not a religion. It's like saying communism isn't a kind of governmental system because it's completely egalitarian. In reality nothing's perfect and Communist countries just like churches will not even distribute the wealth, holding a little extra for themselves just like how churches find it necessary to spend millions of dollars on flashier churches rather than actual charity.

  • Nice I was thinking pretty much the same thing as I was watching the original video.

  • I was hoping you would work in that he's selling watches. From the vid description "Wanna start helping and serving Jesus in a practical way? checkout the company of the watch I am wearing in the video!"

  • @IndulgingExistence To be fair, I can't really bash on him for having a sponsor. Some youtubers or entrepreneurs have sponsors which give them money if the company feels that they have a substantial amount of traction and if he was indeed sponsored by the watch company, he's only doing his job by promoting them in the description. So no harm no foul in that department.

  • @chattiestspike2 Ah touche, I hadn't thought of it that way.

  • The only way that Why I hate Religion, but Love Jesus makes sense if he meant that he hates other religion, but loves Christianity.

  • uhh, I think the phrase is one 'and' the same... anyway great vid as always :)

  • RE UPLOAD THE VIDEO WITH THE HUGE PINECONE

  • sweet.

  • Well done!

  • better than TAA's response.great rebuttal
