After thirty-four years, and after having grown into a dirty middle-aged lecher it is still embarrassing listening to Donna Summer make a complete ass of herself!!
Love the churning electronic background, the way she forces out the word "And" and tries to sing slightly flat before the word "Romance", the horror movie strings... Aaaaand of course her lascivious moaning. Classic.
I had just moved from Honolulu to NYC in the summer of 1977 and remember seeing this movie, I think it was at the ZEGFIELD theater on the westside. I actually had just come to NYC for a visit, fell in love and decided to stay. This changed my life totally and all the while Donna Summer and DISCO was with me. Memories I will have with me forever and ever.
Her Sexual Magical Voice and the Beautiful arrangement along with the beat of Disco. I never understood the Whole B G's It sure wasn't Disco I know their sound became so over played that people hated Disco when really they just got tired of the whole Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack. Funny as it really wasn't Disco That Sucked, it was the B G's Sound that Sucked Their Music was more Pop because their music was never fast enough
Just listening to the opening intro',those strings & I'm instantly transported back to the disco era of my teens! I get older,(51 in 3 weeks, yikes),but the music of Summer & all the other great vocalists will never age. It's how it should be.
@popazz1 same age here...yes you're right....I remember watching the Deep in the theater in the afternoon when I got home I got news my grandpa died....Funny the stuff you remember.
When I was a child the part when she starts to moaning sounded strange for me! I had no idea why she was doing that. Now that as adult I can say she was very happy moaning! HAHAHA

This song is from the CD "Live And More", but it replaced the 17-minute version of "MacArthur Park Suite" to "Down Deep Inside" due to the 78-minute length for the CD release. It was originally included on the soundtrack to "The Deep".

Not in vain she is considered along with Streisand, Ross, Midler & Minnelli the best 5 pop singers of the 20th century. Please note I said POP(ular) Music. Do not compare them with Callas, Tebaldi, Sutherland, Callabé and all those opera divas.
@RAFAAMARILLAS Not that opera divas are more gifted. I think some pop singers could sing opera, and vice versa. There are those in the world who don't like opera. To each his own. We are not all European or Westerners.
@breezykewl I understand your reply but I made my remark based on the fact that a lot of people here insist on comparing both types of of singers and I agree with you when you say that pop singers can sing opera and viceversa, opera stars can sing pop....some of the best pop singers in the world are actually conservatory trained opera singers and most people do not know this and I also agree when you say that a lot of people and I mean a lot dislike opera

And this is what I get for having a trip down memory lane, lol! Gonna be 50 next month so I was a teenager way back when she was the diva of 'em all! I recall this being banned on some radio staions siply cos the erotic groaning she uses on the track! Christ, nowadays she'd be applauded if she stood on stage with her baps out, lol! 'Live and More' was my all-time favourite album of hers, and this is a classic! Good god,I've actually got a ruddy tear in me eye, lol!

I remember my days as a dj in Puerto rico top clubs at the lions disco, this was one of the night opening song. Eric Garcia forme dj. 70 80 and some 90s
In the 70s when I first heard this song I thought that, never, had I heard such a sensuous woman and I still haven't!! although Donna wished we hadn't though, bless her!
Did I tell you, this is the only reason I went to see the movie. Damn it was awfu.l No one could beleive that after the success of probably one of the greatest horror movies of all time(Jaws) that Robert Benchley could come up with such a stinker.
Donna was so big back in the day, that the film's claim to fame was that she teamed up with John Barry and sang the title theme song. That and Jacqueline Bisset in a wet T-shirt. Yes, that movie was a definite clunker. I think I saw it on cable once a few years ago. I don't think Benchley ever recovered.
The title music was instrumental. But i like this version best. One of many of John Barry's greatest hits including the black hole, out of africa, we have all the time in the world, you only live twice, walkabout, the knack and many more.
Donna Summer, anything you sings I loveit you are one of best diva I always play all your beautifull songs I' plays until my last days of my life....................
I still have my MINT Blue LP of this Movie Soundtrack from way back when the movie first came out. Loved the song then and just saw the movie on TV again, and it was just as engaging now as it was then.
Anything she sings, INCREDIBLE! This girl outshines any newcomer! I love her new stuff just as much as her old. I have so many favorites recorded by her. I'd love to hear Donna sing some modern jazz some day!
This song is what Music used to be, unlike some of the Bad Music there is around nowadays. Long live great Quality Music like this. Its takes me back to when I was Younger. What be good if there was Music like this now.
Just remember that each generation likes their own music, doesnt mean what comes along later is bad, its just not to your taste. I was born 1960, so I am qualified to make this statement me thinks.
jeez this song god theres someone i would like to explore me deep inside and he knows who it is love you gorgeous want you more than anything xxxxxxxxxxx
I have the soundtrack album for "The Deep". It is an incredible aqua blue see-through. Does anyone else in here have it or seen it? It is an awesome looking album.
