A great COPY of an original. I have to disagree with you blehman, and I love this song. Don's wine has turned to vinegar. This was an anomaly, the last Dokken effort, with Lynch, Pilson, and Brown, that reflected the "classic" structure was Dysfunctional. I wish I had a lawyer who could knock-off George's riffs.
I can imagine the job interview: "Ok we don't care about how good a guitarist you are, Here's some Lynch tapes. now copy this!" Theres a difference between influence or tribute and down right "trying" to parrot to sell records.
yeah, it seems with Don-that even with his own band Don Dokken was good! He's like Jon Bon Jovi everthing he touches turns gold Comming back its still the same.
Lynch's tone and style are a defining characteristic of the Dokken sound. A guitarist who dramatically departs from that would strip Dokken of a significant aspect of its identity. The other consideration is Don. He is the primary lyricist and has to sing the tracks. He has a vision of what he will do vocally and how it should match the guitar work. While I believe the Lynch /Dokken musical chemistry is irrefutable (see Perry/Tyler or Roth/Van Halen), personally and sadly, they're toxic.
Just got this album a few weeks ago and I am very happy with it! It sounds like the Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key, and the Back for the Attack albums fused together and mutated into this new, and very impressive Dokken album! Its great to see them going back to their classic sound!
Choosing Jon Levin as a guitarist was the most stupid thing. Guy sounds almost like lynch, plays like lynch and personally I hate when someone serves me same riffs coz "they are catchy". George is George - has unique style and sound. True musician. Even with Reb Beach they recorded fu..ing great album. Coz he had great ideas. Rest of the songs are also weak. True story.
Wow, this sounds more like Lynch than Lynch! I've heard of influences, but this guy IS Lynch back in 1985. Oh well, I guess it's cool. Sounds great. I like Lynch Mob when it first came out but wished George kept playing with the Dokken sound. However, I do think Souls of We is particularly good.
John Levin is a great player, but i do think he sounds a bit to much like George Lynch. It would probably be better if he had more of his own style. But still, the guitar playing sounds awesome.
Loudness wars, distroyed this record. People please stop loving ur limiters and compressors..ughhh....Too much exciter on vox, very poor recording. Music kicks ass though, as usual :) thank god goerge is back for the new record! Levin is a twirp..
Levin is great, he does a great Lynch but gets along with Don too. More consistent than Lynch too. When George is on he's great but he can be really bad too. Levin is always "on" and tears it up. Of course George is the original, can't take that away from him.
See Scorpions? This is how you make an 80's sounding album.

Does sound a lot like George...that ain't a bad thing!
This could have fit in nicely on 'Under Lock & Key'
No complaints here!!

This album reminds me of their early ears. Probably their best work of this decade. Very, very nice.

Excellent song! The band is tight as always, and Don's vocals (like a fine wine) just get better with age! DOKKEN RULES!

Jon is an amazing player , and did an incredible job by prevailing "the Lynch Tone" .
But the entire album lacks of "Lynch co writer skills" .....
I really enjoyed the album , but some tracks sounds to me like "Don Dokken´s solo proyect" ..... but with more balls in it ( hahhaahahh )

This is one of the best songs that I ever heard from Dokken, and the Lightning Strikes Again album is great.
They should play at House of Blues Orlando or Destination Daytona or St. Augustine Amphitheatre.
