N.........Balls - I remember this from my childhood - just shows hows fucked-up Colonialism and Apartheid are - no-one gave it a second thought - pure evil at work on the un-suspecting dumb masses.
I said that very simply because Jeremy Taylor is not a South African. He was born and brought up in Berkshire, England and went to South Africa as an adult to teach English in schools. He also wrote and sang folk songs and became famous in the stage show "Wait A Minim" around 1962 in which he sang his song Ag Pleeze Deddy. He later went back to the UK.
Any recording of "De bleck peopole wanna go waait an de waait people wanna go bleck"? Same bloke, same era, same happy (?) memories from teenage school of these songs.
This is so funny! Lee sung this when she was a child and taken to the drive-in to watch movies in Kwazulu Natal. It is a persiflage on Afrikaans. You are not allowed to say nigger balls anymore as it is not done after Apartheid days. Nowadays, you call them black balls.
@ChrisJBrady because the last line of that verse is: But go on out and moere all the oukies next door. Can't have a kiddies song finishing about killing people now can we?!
Great song.I remember listening to it on LM radio at the base near Vic Falls, after weeks of floppey slotting.Great song to sing along to with a few cold Castles.
Floppy slotting, two words I haven't heard in a long, long time. You could have said "popping niggers" but that would have gotten your post reported.......
@heywoodejerblowme if floppey slotting means to you what it does in Zim then you should be taken outside and beaten till you lose your fucking head then tossed into vic falls racist idiot piks like you is why there is this stereotype for all white africans and if you don't mean floppey slotting in the same way then sorry but choose a different fucking term
As my dad would say: Shut Up!

Love this song. Reminds me of my teenage years. Drive ins where we could watch 3 movies for R5.00 per car. Making me homesick.

I was based in Simonstown in the 60s on HMS Jaguar. This was played over the ships loudspeakers every time we entered or left harbour.
