  • A great song glad to hear it again. Great wisdom back then and now.

The quality was greatly neglected compared to commercial bands, especially in this 1st rate song and performance.

  • @makthing220 awesome!

  • wish we could see a revival of this great kind of music.........

  • rock on Sweet Comfort!

  • Sweet Comfort truely reached thousands of people in the 70s, and I feel honoured to know them. God has used their ministry to reach out to people and my God continue to use them for his purpose. Kevin the founder is now with his saviour, playing bass in heaven.

  • My Son owns that Bass guitar now...I got o play it when they opened up for the Becky Fender Band in Dallas at Reunion Arena in Dallas. I still love these guys. Pray for them them when you think about them.

  • We will miss you Kevin! Ricky B

  • These guys were all my closets friends and they all got along great. Of course there were some issues as in any band..

  • thank whoever for Petra then. Lift Him Up. Higher and Higher

  • Sweet Comfort Band, the CCM's answer to Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire. I love this group!!!! Excellent 70s rock!

  • CAME TO CHRIST OUT OF THE PUNK SCENE IN 1980 AND I WAS FACED WITH LOADS OF ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE 'CHRISTIAN' MUSIC, BUT THESE GUYS REZ, KEITH AND LARRY HELPED ME THRU. Still serving Him.

  • thank you so very much for uploading this! It totally made my day! I was very fortunate a few years back to meet Bryan Duncan....he is the nicest, most genuine guy you'll ever meet. A true believer and saint....you can see the light of God reflecting in him.

Thanks so much, and God bless!

  • I was at this concert! Oh my gosh, Jimmy Kempner too! I feel old now........... I graduated in 77!

  • He was a little young... jajaja... Cool... Good singer... My favorite!! God bless you!

  • Good singer

  • Just digitized a bunch of their music from old cassettes, sweet!

  • Oh my gosh - I remember this song when they played it @ Calvary Chapel of Downey, CA. - 1977 I saw them for the first time!!

    Wow!

  • Scott Brooklyn played in a christian band called RUSHING WIND at Calvary CM back in 80-81. I will pay anyone $300 for a video copy of that concert (maranatha concert at calvary costa mesa) Rushing Wind/ jazz/funk/with horns.

  • I was at this concert,i love Brian Duncan. But there was a real young 8 piece christian band that mainly played prisons,It was Rushing Wind ,one of the first christian horn bands. The singer and songwriter of the band was Scott Brooklyn(ruvolo)4 octive beautful voice.People would get healed when he sang.Churches back then were not into jazz/funk so they didnt stay together. I just found him on myspace great music!!

  • They played at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa the night I came to the Lord, Feb 12, 1977! Thank you Jesus for using the Gospel as sung by Sweet Comfort to speak to my lost soul. -Annie

  • SWEET SWEET

  • WOW! I was on Sweet Comfort, Imperials, Andrae Crouch...love this stuff...brings back a flood of memories.

  • I WAS AT TTHIS CONCERT

  • SWEET COMFORT!! Right on! This brings back such great memories... I keep hoping they'll do a reunion tour, but I mentioned it to Duncan after one of his solo shows in the late 90's, and he said he had no desire. I still hope!

  • I discovered "Contemporary Christian Music" around 1979. Being a guitar player, the first two bands I went to see where Phil Keaggy and Sweet Comfort Band... SWC in a small college auditorium and Phill Keaggy in a high school auditorium. I was up close for both. I haven't seen any bands since top those two groups. What incredible musicians... The fact that they were doing it for God's glory changed my whole view of making music. Thanks for posting.

  • Boy, does that bring back memories. Thanks.

  • Randy has always been in my opinion one of the best guitarists in music. He's still a saught after musician having toured with the likes of Shania Twain and doing studio work for many acts as well. Best of all, he still loves the Lord.

  • I always loved this song. It's always been my favorite SCB song. I haven't heard it for years. Thanks for posting.

  • I never saw them live, I was pretty young back in that day but my dad had all their albums on vinyl. This is probably my 2nd favorite song by them, behind Love You With My Life. From their albums I became a huge Bryan Duncan fan - I saw him three times in the 80's. I had his first four solo albums. Classic stuff.

  • I miss those days !many lives was touched good seed was planted...

  • For me too, a good seed indeed! This band was introduced to me by my babysitter when I was about 9 years old and I have always liked them.

  • I was able to meet the band when we opened for them for a concert at Wayland Baptist University in the early 80's. They were a great bunch of guys, very Godly and down to earth.

  • wow,,,i know it it old but i love it...brings me back. I used to attend Calvery Chapel In Riverside with the band, met Bryan a few times. I never heard of any trouble with the band either, nothing serious anyway... Just because people are Christians dont mean that tey are perfect and dont have issues with people.

  • Gosh this old but i loved this band;-)

  • Hmm... love the band, but... I really tire of all the false piety among so many Christian bands. Despite what Randy was saying at the end here, these guys NEVER got along. It was always Randy and Bryan against the two brothers. And as I recall they battled it out in court as well as on stage. They sure made some great music though.

  • They reunited in 2001 - maybe the relationships improved by then. I never heard of trouble in the band.

  • CCM ran an article years ago on Thomas and Duncan where they talked opening about the falling out that led to the band's breakup. Apparently the drummer and bass player (brothers) had control over the group financially and did all the bookings as well, while Randy and Bryan (who were the main writers and talent) had virtually no say in anything. There was a lot more bickering behind the scenes in CCM music than most people know (unfortunately). Greg Voltz and Pat Terry had similar problems.

  • Hey, not to mention the famous Larry Norman/Randy Stonehill/Daniel Amos feud. I know musicians are temperamental, but I really do think Keith Green called it right when he said the Spirit was going out of Christian Music back in 1978. Everyone got along pretty well before that and then overnight all this fighting erupted. That's about when Lonnie Frisbee got into trouble too. But recently the Pat Terry Group got back together for a benefit as well, so I think time has healed things quite a bit.

  • Thanks for the comments and the insight!

  • Randy is my dad. They never went to court. They got along great for about 9 years -- but all good things come to an end :-)

  • @phantastes My sister dated Bryan before he got married, and he was kind of a jerk offstage. Randy had a superstar complex. The brothers were mellow and cool, especially Rick.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • In 2006 Kevin Thomson the bass player suffered a crippling spinal injury in Idaho and is now a quadraplegic. Pray for him and his wife Robin that God will continue to use them in ministry.

  • Ah...my one regret. Never seeing the SCB reunited on tour several years ago. Defiunitely on of my fave SCB songs! Great video.

  • Amazing! What a blast! Did Bryan's voice ever sound better? (I dont' think so!) :-)

  • Easy there, SCB is one of my favorites, Bryan Duncan's voice is amazing but Pink Floyd still holds 'Best Band Ever':)

  • I love em...best Christian Band ever...and possibly best band ever.

  • wow this band is discovery 4 me

    singer voices like grand funk

    god bless you all

    tanks kshavo

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! Been looking for some of the early songs.

  • He has a 4 octave range with his voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow...Gotta love SCB. Thamks for posting this!

  • More SCB please, thanks.

Thanks for posting my fav band of all time here. Wow, made my week.

  • What a sweet band.

  • Brain Duncan is a scream to look at way back then. And please remember to pray for Kevin Thomson who is partially parallelized.

  • Thanks for sharing this walk down memory lane. Jimmy Kempner looks great here too. Great interview with Randy.
