Nice sprite edit! Only thing that gives it away (other than the description) is the sprite doesn't do anything special when it spins around (eg. Yoshi's tongue, DKJr's hands in air).

But that goes for any character IMO. even Wario and Dasiy would of been cool if they were in it.

But Donkey Kong Country released in 1994. But Wario and Daisy could have made it into Mario kart.
