I have a friend that likes many things that are obscure to her friends (and most don't really care), but I try to understand why she likes them and I think we become better friends because of that. It also helps that everything she likes I usually like (especially music). For example I wouldn't have become a nerdfighter because of her or even have found youtube, or doctor who. Sorry for so many words. X)
@Batmanlikespi I like this idea you bring up of trying to understand why your friend likes certain things. Although perhaps some people decide to "like" Harry Potter or Doctor Who because they are so popular, it's also important to remember that they are so popular because so many people like them, there's likely a reason so many people like them. I always like to read/watch things people recommend, especially people I find interesting or admire.
I believe that Hank made a video recently concerning some of the same ideas you mentioned. He talked about sports specifically and about how they are important because we make them important. I think that it becomes true with many things that people will make themselves like something in order to fit in. I think its more important to like something even though it may not be popular because you can introduce it to others and when someone else likes it-it becomes a really exciting discovery.
@Owltalons I want to watch the original Doctor Who, and I wonder how I will feel about it having already seen the new ones. Do you still watch/enjoy the new Doctor Who?
I don't have a constructive comment this time around. I just want to say that I think it's cool that you sit on the floor. At least, it looks like you sit on the floor.
I have heard of Popular, but when it played on Family Channel it was on at 10, and that was my bedtime. I did sneak a few episodes, though :) It's different from any other "teen" type show I've seen. It was almost surreal, especially that terrifying teacher. I've never actually watched Dr. Who. Except for the Hitler one that started off the new season. But I do have a deep, deep love of Gilmore Girls. It's borderline obsessive.
@DreamerRealist The first couple episodes of season 1 of Popular are like a normal teen show. But then it's like the writers decided, to hell with it, and it gets progressively more and more ridiculous. I never really watched Gilmore Girls but I've known other people who had an intense connection to/love for that show.
@alyiswriting I clearly remember a "Sensitivity Boot Camp" episode. And a glass of poison, a sadistic sister, and hungry cats. And a Christmas Carol episode. I kind of want to watch it all the way through now. It, and "My So-Called Life". Ahh! The writing for Gilmore Girls is so fantastic. I'm getting to the point where I want to memorize the episodes verbatim.

This is a great topic, and it's something I've been thinking about for a while now. I'll be making a video response soon!
