  • Man how did you succeed to get it after that ?

  • This is amazing footage :) Couldn't help but laugh at the noises of the wind rushing past the camera after the balloon pops - just sounded too much like the camera was screaming XD "AAAAAHHHHHhhhhhhhh......"

  • can some 1 tell me why the ballon explod in the spaces ? :o what make it do that ???

    >:D

  • @msms47 The lack of pressure outside of balloon causes an imbalance with the helium inside the balloon which makes the balloon expand and burst.

  • meanwhile, sitting at a desk, an faa employee is absolutely shitting themselves

  • In space, no one can hear your balloon pop.

  • how did You get the camera back

  • do you get FAA approval before you do that?

  • that was very cool ... I'd like to see the pressure calc's on that balloon at its max height 2 the ground....nice vid.... just think Joe Kittinger jumped from 35K above that... & lived with a leaking suit,,, LOL Wicked stuff... and the people that are commenting on the camera moving to much is absolutly hillarious... anyone hear of the jetstream.... biometric pressures...Etc..

  • How far away from the launch site did it land?

  • That camera moved around way too much. If they spent the money to send a balloon up there they should buy a better mount system for the camera...

  • @james87stephen That is the whole balloon moving. The gusts up there can be well over 100 MPH.

  • I love the absolute SILENCE! Amazing!

  • Did I hear a turboprop engine at one time ?You got in the middle of air traffic?

  • there's no way id ever do that lol

  • AWESOME

  • Did someone catch it?

  • That fall was pretty suspenseful.

  • wow!.i didn't know clouds make beeping noises! :D

  • 3:20 ALIENS!!!

  • Good job guys, good to see people doing this! I launched as well on Sept 5th, 2010 with success to 90k. aerialparade..com. All info located their, as well as video and pics.

    Cody

  • How far away did it land from where you set it off?

  • The first minute or so, I was feeling a little dizzy, the Spinning!

  • wow it's amazing...where did you find the balloon??

  • Wow that was really interesting. I bet my grandchildren will have cars that will fly up there and back... for now though hot air balloons will do.

  • that spinning camera makes me feel sick....

  • why is this in the related video's between other 90's dance hits? (:

  • wow thats amazing. perfect silence

  • thats out of this world bro!!!! ...literally

  • the edge of space tho....... this nigga was crazy.

  • How the hell did you get the camera back?

  • You can hear a Tie-Fighter fly by at 3:20

  • when your that high the world look like an ant

  • oh my god how did you have guts to do this so awesome xD you rock

  • what a schit keeant

  • Nice job! go to our profile to see STRATOS I being launched in South Florida! As you know Florida is surrounded by ocean water. It was truly a challenge. You can go to my profile or type STRATOS BALLOON on You Tube.

    Enjoy!

  • that nigga is crazy?

  • lol when the baloon decents its sounds like your cam is screaming but its just the air rushing past the cam obviously

  • Did you fined the camera?

  • @e8mile nice one

  • do you have to file a flight plan or some such? How do you stear clear of aircraft and air routes?

  • @weav8060

You request a permit from the FAA.

  • Hi. if you put a GPS on a high altitude balloon (100,000 feet), keep it warm - it will cut off at some altitude on he ascent?? Our model says 20,000 feet - but will it start working again on the way back down?

  • Question: where did the balloon launch from, and how far from there did it land?

  • @moogyboy6 it didnt land, not that i know of, he jumped out of it with parachute at 102,800 feet

  • yo que sepa al principio del salto

el aire no se debe de escuchar!

solamente cuando llego a la troposfera!?

    me pone en duda esto!

  • 32 Kilometres high?

  • we are all gonna die!

  • thats obvious...

  • Balloons are evil and must be punished.

  • @TheSammy1979,i'm sorry, are you sure? what kind of evil do they do?

  • Fuck you balloon!

  • 0:34 .. Is that a plane propellor I hear? lol

  • thats what it sounds like to me

  • amazing

  • I always wanted to do this. I once threw a beat up camcorder from the top of a pine tree while it was recording. It was ok. Kinda short.

  • when i grow up i am going to go to the edge of the universe

  • to sc-fi to happen

  • I wish you the best of luck! :D

  • thank you

  • yeh, good luck with that

  • thank you. do you want to come?

  • uuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr well, if we can make it back before 5.00 I have to feed the cat

  • no, we will be gone for millennia. you can let your cat die, or if you want you can bring it along

  • Yeh someone should have given that balloon some camera training! Hmmm, there could be some problems with training an inanimate object to use a piece of sophisticated technology...I know, next time tie a midget to the balloon and they can steady the camera. Might be a bit of a problem when they try to breath. Or when they hit the ground. Or when they implode due to atmospheric pressure...still, so long as they keep the camera steady!

  • To see the Earth from above makes u never wanna throw a peice of chewing gum wrapper out the window ever again. It's beautiful. And to think there's wars, pollution, everything. Sad.

  • wars and pollutin i hear you, chewing gum?lol,i went 85000 feet in a mig,i could see space, the curvature of earth and it made me feel like i had almost held gods hand

  • Awesome, I'd love to do that. I wonder how much it costs.

  • That was a baloon, not a person. A manned baloon jump from 90K feet was done once by a man named Joe Kittinger though. There is a guy trying to do it again now but he can't find the funding for it. The biggest expense he's grappling with is the space suit.

  • I know it was unmanned, I meant that I was wondering about how much the balloon, camera, etc is for an unmanned flight. There is no way I would actually go up there, lol. It would be interesting to join a project with a college or start a similar project.

  • DrkRonin03:

Actually, Joe Kittinger's record jump was from 102,800 ft. And, as for the guy trying to break his record, he actually did have the funding, but his balloon somehow lifted off without him.

  • Joe kittinger jumped from 30 kilometers. or 102,800 feet

  • Around 135 dollars!

  • man what a trip now thats a high i would like a lot

  • Sounds like Aliens chasing it down to earth, this is magnificent!

  • Will someone please tell me , did you have to speak with the FAA before the project and how did you manage to release the parachute ?

  • i wanna be a ballon too and see how wonderful and amazing the space is

  • how did they track it?

  • using a gps

the best way is to use a GPS cellular phone with internet connection or an application to send location via sms

  • way cool

  • Thats just simply amazing

  • there are nobody aboard

  • This is something i have always dreamed of doing ...Sending my cam into space but was waiting for technology to come up with much lighter recording equipment ... Is there a web i can go to that will tell me the logistics invovled in this ?

  • We need to find out what kind of equip they used. You need at least a pretty big balloon thats like not fully filled or it will explode because of the difference in air pressure up there. Then you could put in a gps beacon (to find where it landed) and a camera. Make sure it can handle a temperature of below 50. Should be doable with some good preperation!

  • Look up CU-spaceflight.

  • great video. thanks so much for posting this.

  • Grow up kid

  • I'm grown up just fine. I just figured that one stupid comment deserved another , but I guess 2 wrongs don't = a right.

  • Wow I could imagine the sound of RE-ENTRY

I would love to feel the acceleration

  • Is Thad a real name?

  • tehlulorz:

Um, yeah it was. The atmosphere doesn't terminate at a certain altitude.

The balloon was well into in a region known as Near Space. This region lies between 65,000 ft (12 mi) and 330,000 ft (62 mi). In this region, the atmopshere is more similar to space than it is to Earth's atmosphere.

Balloons are frequently sent up to the edge of space, often reaching 130,000 ft, to do experiments in a near-vacuum environment.

  • @norman4lyf Joseph Kittinger rode a balloon up to that region and jumped out at about 102,000 ft as well.

  • It's a wonder someone hasn't turned something like that into a roller coaster or some other amusement park ride.

  • There is little air up there Its very hard to breathe

  • Ummmmm ... not talking about full scale structure. Talking about using the footage shot by the balloon camera. An amusement ride that "tricks" the brain, ie. platform spins riders as camera footage shows spinning, etc. blah blah blah

    You get the idea.

  • Incredible.

It was so amazing how alone you suddenly felt when the balloon reached space.

Im just in awe of seeing the curviture of the world appear.

  • Did it pop on its own or was it by command?

  • Is that a latex balloon?

  • Beautiful view from 107'000 ft ! Thanks for posting !

  • So that's were all those new year balloons go!

  • so kool when it reaches in space u dont hear much wind anymore

  • you can hear a space alien chewing on the camera and pushing buttons!!!!!

  • Awesome. Now imagine doing that with airships.

  • how come these things go up so fast??

  • LouisMusic2007: Because it has lots of helium in it, making it much lighter than air. Normal party balloons still go up pretty fast, and usually pop at an altitude of 28,000 feet above sea level (for comparison, jet airliners usually fly at around 35,000 feet above sea level). High grade large and strong weather/upper atmosphere balloons travel upwards much faster because of the higher amount of helium. I'm guessing that a lightweight, unmanned one could hit 30 mph in the lower atmosphere.

  • So how high did it go?

  • was that outer space? if it was, how come it keep it is moving so much

  • Nope, space starts at 100km. This probably only went up 30/40 km.

  • lol at 0:33. is that a turbo prop i hear?

  • 1.) Nice video! Isn't it wild that the average joe can now do what nobody could do 100 years ago? 2.) How did you keep the payload from spinning as they usually do so much? (Or did you just edit out the parts with wild spinning?) 3.) At 107,000 ft., the gravity was down to ~99% of surface force. Sweet! 4.) Did you have an onboard modem or was it completely passive (with gps for recovery)? 5.) How far from launch did the ballon travel, geographically?

  • You can see the curve of the earth

It would be cool to that at night

  • from 1:16 to 1:17 it looked like it jumped about 20,000 ft.

  • how fast was that..

  • This video is making me dizzy...

  • umm why wud he need the camera back? the video transmission is sent back to earth

  • actually it was described in the credits as a digital camera, and they don't usually have live video feed capability. I kinda did wish though that we had gotten to see it plow into the ground. The getting stuck in a tree was a bit anti-climactic.

  • how the ! did you get the camera back?
