Amazing footage. The reason why these birds are so rare is pesticide concentration in the fish they eat. Runoff from farms is absorbed by organisms at the bottom of the marine food chain and passed on to the eagles that eat the fish. These chemicals weaken the egg shells of their young, making it difficult for them to reproduce.
You're lucky to have seen this, great job getting it on camera.
@Tardisius I live in Brown County, Indiana and see bald eagles a lot. If you go to Lake Monroe or Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Indiana you will see lots of them.
Hawks and some eagles are making a good comeback in this area too (Birdsboro, pa) I see alot of redtails, coopers but no bald eagles yet. Heading to Hawk Mountain 1st week of Sept to hopefully see one in the wild for the 1st time.
Marvelous video! As you made this video in March, I'm guessing the eagle had a nest with eggs. Eagles and other raptors catch prey with their talons. This eagle is very persistent and I hope he was successful.
I live in Annapolis, Md. and saw my first wild bald eagle about 2 months ago over Stoney Creek in Pasadena, Md. It was FABULOUS. This is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic video. It's amazing that you were able to spot a bald eagle and two red-tailed hawks like that. Those particular redtails are almost as beautiful as the eagle with that classic plumage. It's nice to know that you can still see such things in the modern world.
I saw two on lee highway in fairfax in oct. 2007. Awesome. Had never seen one before in the wild, even though this was in suburbia. They were trying to fly down to the street to grab something. It was amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes. Right by Lee highway and Jermantown road. It was crazy b/c no one else seemed to notice.
Me too but I've always dreamed of seeing one. I remember in elemetary school asking a teacher if there were any Eagles in Maryland and she basically told me they only live in western USA.
Where are good places to go to see some wild Bald Eagles in Maryland?
You're in luck! Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is over on the Eastern Shore near Cambridge, and it is considered the best place to spot bald eagles on the East Coast. On our trip we saw 10-15 bald eagles flying and making their wonderful calls. We even caught a video of one catching a fish, very much like this one.
We also saw two osprey, two American white pelicans, and countless geese, swans, and vultures. The refuge is EXTREMELY accessible for anyone.
Thank you for not flying your RC plane to bother this majestic bird while he was getting his lunch. (Also illegal to disturb and harrass.) This is not to offend anyone. I enjoyed your video. Thank you for posting it.
Holy cow dude, you live in Columbia? I live like, three minutes away from you! I can tell you live in Gaither's Farm; my bus route goes past your house.
Haha yeah, if you see r/c airplanes flying around where this video is you'll see me. (but only for another week or so - moving out of the parents house finally)
omg....thats funny I grew up near where you are....lol but moved from beech creek to owen brown before grad school. Is that broke down harpers choice village center still there?...lol anyway thats so cool, i never saw any eagles, i did see a few hawks back in the day....very cool clip...they are so majestic...makes a brotha wanna put his hand on his heart...peace
Crazy. That village center is still there and it's pretty thriving, but the Wilde Lake one is suffering. The Giant closed down and turned into "The Melting Pot," and I think even that is going out of business.

When the car drives by it sounds like the eagle turns on his jet engines
