You can see the GB player at 0:07, nearest the ref, asking for the flag. Ref called it late because he waited to see where the ball was actually caught. (You can see the hold on video # OhoTOKu4yzU )
You can ordinarily get away with this on a punt, but only if you do it away from the ball. Unfortunately for the Bears, this was on the side where Knox made the return. Sucks for Chicago, I know, but it was a good call.
it is hard to believe this is your quarterback. for real????? hanie? ha ha. we wanted to be challenged for a wildcard. this is some joke. a intentional grounding to end the game? this guy is a clown. and he is your first string quarterback??? HA HA HA
wat was fuked up was Green Bay's punter was the only 1 who knew where the ball was floatin. n Devin Hester played that shit off so wrll lmao thats how u know he has to many returns lol
Whoever contracted Joe Buck as a football announcer needs to be shot on site. Followed by Joe having his larynx removed. There isn't a person in the whole realm of sports as dull and boring to watch as he is.
If people such as Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy up north in a town in Wisconsin want to fool around with each other's buttholes like a bunch of fun boys, then let them have fun.
shows how robotic the packers are. they dont even watch the ball. they just run towards devin hester. in my mind, this is one of the most ingenious fakes in the past decade of football.
I think the best part about this play is that Knox has to start at the LOS....meaning he has to out run the punt to catch it, then turn around and run 88yrds BACK down field.
Greatest fakeout of all time. Holding or not, it even faked out the camera man. And I bet, if the bears did this next week, it'd STILL work. Hester just has that much of an influence on what everyone does on special teams! haha
I don't know...It was a great play and all but I would be pissed if I was kicking for the packers...what the hell are you guys doing the ball is the other way ha
@likeparker what else would you call it? theres no way you design something like that... unless you can tell the other teams punter where to kick it and you have a guy who can willy mays catch punts every time
@isaacTGOD44 its a very genius playcall, I didn't understand it either, but now it makes sense, the Packers special teams players don't see the ball, they just run down the field blindly expecting Devin Hester to return in it, and he acts as if he will (looking up at the ball, calling fair catch, waiting for it to fall in his arms), the only person on the packers that knew what was happening was the punter Mathsay, and he's one guy, plus CHI had a blocker for Knox to take him out
how was tthe first 2 seconds the penalty when the penalty flag came out on the 18 yard line on the opposite side of the kick from the back judge. show me one play that doesnt have unintentional holding...get your facts straight
"It's unfortunate that something we worked so hard on would be called back because of a play by me," he said. "It was maybe 30, 40 yards away from the play. It wasn't blatant but it was just a bad play by me. I should have just let him go, just don't even touch him. He had nothing to do with the play. -graham chicago tribune
@10ffl if you're on the kicking team you cant see the ball. you can only see the players looking to return it. so Devin Hester acted like he was watching the ball come to him but it was really falling on the other side of the field. By the time the punting team realized it, Johnny Knox was halfway to the endzone across the field with only the punter to beat. make sense?
@PimpMasterGary it came in at :02 pay attention at the two players at the top left screen. its best to start it at 0:00 and then you see those two players come into the screen.
the player that was "held" was about 40 yards away from johnny knox when he caught the ball. holding doesnt exist when the player was barely held and had a 0 percent chance of making a play
If the penalty was in the first couple of seconds, why was the flag INSIDE the 20 and placed on the Bears 10 yard line? It was a phantom BS call and the refs F'd up the spread with that call!!!
The holding that was flagged occurs at the the 0:01-0:02 point and is only visible on the shot from behind the punter. At seconds 1-2 in the upper left corner of the frame you can see the Bear player with his right arm grabbing the Packer on shoulder and the Packer's shoulder dips. It's a quick grab and release that qualifies as a hold. It messed up an amazing play - but that's the penalty that was called.
Sorry, but the call was indeed a terrible call. I am not saying the Bears would have won given the return TD. I am just disappointed to see that the punt will not be shown on any highlights. The play was excellent and set up to perfection. Unfortunately the play will not get the recognition it deserves.
@noonie290 at the beginning of the play. 0:02 was where it happened. It was a very fast but still clear play. Just pay attention to the two players who came into the screen at the top left of the screen.
It was great, even though I go for the bears, the packers would win anyday against them
